Out with the old - In with the bold

Boldstar had been waiting in the abandoned rabbit warren rather than out amongst the roots of the Twinwillow as the sun set. He poked his head out of the tunnel on and off while he avoided the freezing temperatures and sleeting that were going on outside.
He well knew it would be a miserable night, evening avoiding the rain by only joining the clan at the speaking spot for the meeting, but it was a rare moment where Boldstar was not excited to be able to stand before his clanmates. Leaf-bare’s brutality was upon them. The cold ached in his bones. Extra lives gave an advantage in survival, but not in avoiding one’s own age.
Finally, with one last glance up at the moon’s full face, he trotted quickly across the fresh-kill hollow to make his leap up onto the speaking spot. The bark was worn smooth from generations of paws treading on it and the day’s wet weather had left a sheen of ice. Not careening off the far side of the branch took claws, but it certainly wasn’t graceful.
After a moment to get his paws properly under him, Boldstar gave the call: ”All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here in the shade of the Twinwillow!” Then, in a quieter voice. ”Where it is very cold, and very damp.”

Goosesong's hefty paws led him to the clearing of their camp once again, his aqua eyes lay fixed on Boldstar as his voice rang out across the clearing. He had just returned from training with Stormpaw, glancing back every few moments to make sure the she-cat was still behind him. "Your sire is holding a clan meeting, silence is a virtue Stormpaw" he murmured before taking a seat where there was one available.
The large silver tabby began absently grooming his fur and every so often, flicking his gaze up to Boldstar and around the camp whilst waiting for the other clanmates to gather around the twin willows, with a flick of one of his tufted ears, his attention was brought back to Boldstar. Another gathering, another meeting, that is how it was.
I am shaped by the trials I refuse to surrender to.

Lilyriver's good eye scanned the camp as the cats gradually gathered, for once, she wasn't snug around the elder's den, in fact, she was closer to the nursery than anything else. glancing over at the nursery and letting a disgruntled huff slip out of her throat as she placed her head on her paws. Lively yet still missing something... though Lilyriver felt like it wasn't her time to mention it, it was the night of the gathering and it wasn't her place to speak.
Lilyriver glanced at the other elders, Otterwhisker, Cinderwhisper and Ebonyflare as they all watched the meeting, she flicked her tail in greeting but showed them no attention otherwise... although, her gaze lingered onto Ebonyflare a little longer than usual, her mind filled with thoughts she couldn't bring herself to say out loud

Otterwhisker let out a long, weary sigh as Boldstar’s voice cut through the muffled sounds of sleet pelting the camp. She lay curled near the back of the medicine cat’s den, her body pressed against the moss padded wall where it was slightly warmer. The elder’s joints ached fiercely, a dull reminder of her seasons spent weathering RiverClan’s harsh leafbares.
"Another cold night, and freezing rain no less." Otterwhisker muttered, teal eyes flicking toward her daughter, Merrypaw, who had brought her a small morsel and kept her company in the den. "Go on - you need to sit where Boldstar can see you."
She shifted on her nest, the movements slow and deliberate, as though testing her body’s limits. The warmth of the herbs Nettleplume had given her earlier lingered faintly in her throat, though it had done little to shake the deep-set lethargy that hung over her like fog but she managed to follow Merrypaw out towards the warren entrance where she could at least see Boldstar.
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa. Pressure that'll tip, tip tip 'till you just go pop, whoa.

Trying to stave off the feeling of misery that clung to her pelt, the large white she-cat wasn't in the best of moods to go to a Gathering. A part of her knew worried that she would be called to accompany the group tonight - but she was more concerned about others that could go. She was a large she-cat and had a thick pelt of fur, though short as it was, she had the girth to withstand the elements. A cat like Alderfly might not on a night like this. Hopefully he wouldn't be called to go.

Nettleplume had been pacing in the medicine den for what felt like ages, the rhythmic tapping of sleet on the roots setting a maddening tempo. He’d have to brave it soon enough, but for now, he found comfort in the familiar scents surrounding him.
With a small sigh, he leaned down to where a sprig of lavender lay neatly bundled among the other herbs he’d been organizing earlier. The sharp, calming fragrance filled his nose as he inhaled deeply, letting the soothing aroma settle his nerves. StarClan knew he’d need it tonight.
Boldstar’s call echoed faintly from beyond the den, and Nettleplume’s ears twitched in response. He rolled his shoulders to release some of the tension that had built up during the day. "Otterwhisker. Let me know if the cold gets to be too much.I’ll bring something to ease your throat once this meeting is through.”
Pushing passed Merrypaw, Nettleplume padded toward the Twinwillow, the weight of the coming night already pressing on his shoulders. As he stepped into the icy sleet, his thoughts returned to Boldstar’s worn voice and the unspoken concerns woven into his call. StarClan, grant me patience tonight.

Merrypaw had been sitting quietly beside Otterwhisker, her teal gaze flickering with concern as the elder shifted in her nest. Despite Otterwhisker’s encouragement to join the gathering, Merrypaw hesitated, her paws kneading the ground. "You should stay here where it's warm. Boldstar's announcement can reach the medicine cat's den."
But as Otterwhisker began moving toward the warren’s entrance, Merrypaw let out a small sigh and padded to her side. She was no medicine cat, but she knew better than to argue with her mother when she set her mind to something.
The cold hit her like a wave as they emerged, the sleet clinging to her whiskers. "I'll go." She went to a spot that wasn't completely exposed to the weather and sat up straight. She was determined to show the attentiveness her mother had insisted on, even as her mind lingered on Otterwhisker’s frailty. Leafbare was harsh on everyone... but it didn't have to be cruel.

Leafbare's biting frost brought peace to the ruddy elder, at least a mild sort of peace. He was fundamentally the opposite of Otterwhisker, for the weather brought pain for her joints, but to him it was relieving to breathe in. Dust and pollen were long gone, and the air felt clean and fresh. Ebonyflare's ear flicked in contentment as he pushed him self up from the branch he had been resting against. He felt his chest tighten, but he brushed it off, holding in the cough. Either way the sounds of his breathing were still clearly wheezy. He considered moving closer to the meeting, but he knew he could hear Boldstar from here, so instead of moving forward her just leant back down on the branch, letting his amber eyes follow the movements of clanmates around him.

To Bloomfire, Boldstar seemed quieter today, weaker in some ways. It seemed as though leafbare could even bring down great cats such as Boldstar himself. She shot him a quizzical look when she knew he wouldn't be able to see her before she weaved her way through a few cats, making her way towards the outside of the middle. She sat down, neatly curling her tail around her paws before letting out a loud, obvious yawn.

The ground she felt her paw set on was cold as usual. Coldness still gives her the shivers as much as swimming in the river stream. But that wouldn't stop the cinnamon warrior from going over the gathered crowd, her eyes shining with the excitement of what is going on. Ambersmudge adjusted her seating comfortably once the warrior would make it to the Twin Willows spot. It makes her grin with how many familiar faces from where she is at. Ambersmudge would feel as much warmth, just being around her clanmates, even if there are those who don't know her fully. "Ohh, I do wonder who'll be going to the gathering this time?" the feline would question with a content smile.

Sturgeonpaw:
Sturgeonpaw has been making his way over to the Medicine Cat den, planning on switching out with Merrypaw in watching their dame - but it seemed his sister couldn't convince their mother to stay still for even a second.
"Otterwhisker." He sent a silent glance to his sister - a mutual understanding - before settling down to listen to their sire. Seems everyone was tired, moody or downright... well... weak this moon. He didn't like it. Not one bit. Nettleplume had warned him about how the cold might be too much for his dame the moment she had started showing times of fatigue and he had started asking questions. But he hadn't expected his sire to also be so beaten down.
"You think you'll get to go tonight?" He tried to make small talk with his sister as the clan meeting was called. "I. Hope I get to go." That was a partial lie. More like, he hoped he got to go instead of her.
Coldgaze:
The weather was like a vice, squeezing the clan. Good. It was about time he was proven right.
Coldgaze scrambled up on the root, his claws digging into the frozen wood well enough and he hunched down, overlooking his clanmates with a sort of fiery rage that had been burning in him since his encounter with the loner. His healing scar on his head had mercifully been reduced by the cold weather - the swelling of the injured area no longer a problem. But the missing fur would be an issue in the winter. Or an asset for his image. Either way he quite liked the look of it.
He was tired of inaction and useless excuses. He was tired of waiting to watch his clanmates starve, sending them on patrols that would never yield enough despite their best efforts. Or worse, would get them into fights they couldn't win.
Boldstar's lackluster call brought him a side eye, which Coldgaze no longer cared if other cats saw. He was too cold, hungry and angry for that.

Stormpaw’s ears were laid back firmly against her skull as she trailed after Goosesong. She turned her eyes up to the speaking spot, watching her sire nearly fall flat on his face as he took his place.
She heard her siblings fussing over Otterwhisker inside. They didn’t need her to add to the chaos of the Medicine den. Stormpaw was fairly certain if they kept fussing one of the Medicine Cats was going to run them out of the place.
Briarfang's tail lashed as they tried to shake off a clump of wet snow. They glanced at Coldgaze as Boldstar called the meeting, the anger on the tom's face clear from his place up the tree. Briarfang narrowed their eyes, feeling frustration prick at their fur as well. Leaf-bare was difficult enough without an aging, increasingly incompetent leader.
