The oak remembers the storms as warriors remember their battles.

Three weeks had passed since the battle at Stream Clearing and Oaktall was beginning to feel more like himself again. His wounds had closed considerably, though the healing skin still pulled uncomfortably whenever he stretched or moved too quickly and his limp had only just begun to fade. Light duty was better than doing nothing, though, of which he felt like he did enough to last him a lifetime.
So he distracted himself with the small things even though it wasn't the work he would have chosen. Still good to have any work at all. More than that he was grateful to the cats who had kept him alive both during and after the battle. That still on his mind he went looking for one of those cats - Coyotebloom.
So he started to do just that, searching for those familiar orange eyes.

The new camp felt wrong to Coyotebloom, it just felt... so, so wrong. ThunderClan's territory was gone, their camp was gone, their livelihood was gone. Her heart ached for ThunderClan's old camp and all because some lousy bunch of rogues had taken it from them by force. She had found herself resting safely outside of what had come to be the makeshift warriors' den. Her bright orange eyes scanning the cap as she watched over what was left of ThunderClan.
Guilt still bit at her like the fangs of an adder, she couldn't forget about how Gingerthrash died, what he had said to her before he went in fangs first at the cat that looked so much like her mentor. But she still couldn't imagine it as anyone else's fault but her own. She could have been a little more harsher on him, forcing him deeper into camp, being more firm with him. But she wasn't she couldn't really be as firm as she wanted to be, it felt like a strike to the belly when she hurt another cats' feelings.
She let out a sigh, the words that Gingerthrash had said to her felt so genuine, so genuine to the point that she had felt it in her heart. Was she really just pretending to be a clan cat? It felt like she was. But it also didn't she truly didn't know what to feel.
The lilac she-cat was so deep within her own thoughts, she hardly heard a clanmate approach her.

Oaktall's search eventually led him to the makeshift warriors' den, where he spotted a familiar lilac pelt resting just outside. Those bright orange eyes were unmistakable, though they seemed rather far away at the moment. He hadn't quite thought about what he would say once he found her and he paused a foxlength away. "Hey, Coyotebloom."
The greeting came out a little awkwardly, and he cleared his throat. It still felt wrong seeing their Clan gathered in a place that wasn't truly theirs. "Was wondering if you wanted to help me with something." He hoped she woudln't try and disuade him from working a bit.
He paused, looking as though he were trying to think of some worthwhile task to propose. Really...there wasn't much of a plan despite thinking he seemed like the cat to always have one. Maybe he was a little tired of keeping himself company. "How have you been holding up?"
