Stormfall was nearly out of breath by the time he reached camp. He half-stumbled in, shredded ear a mess of blood, and looked around immediately for Moosestar, Kestrelswipe, any one of the senior warriors.
"Riverclan is attacking at the border!" he barked out. "They attacked our patrol at the stream. Thunderclan needs reinforcements, now." He remembered the ferocity with which the Riverclanners had fought--for whatever reason, they meant harm.
Hearing Stormfall's call, Spidertongue leapt from where he was resting, orange eyes glowing with ferocity and excitement. It had been a long time since he'd been able to fight to protect the territory, and he was itching to be one of the cats to launch a counterattack. He wasn't sure where he was needed, but wherever he was placed, he'd be proud to protect his Clan.
Lashing his tail and bounding over to where Stormfall was, he could only hope that no cat was seriously injured in the fight. So long as every cat came out of it relatively safe, he'd be fine with not being on the front line.
"I'm ready!" He called out, a small growl resonating in his throat. "Wherever I'm needed, I'll do my best!" He continued, the commotion that Stormfall's calls had caused already spreading through the camp.

Moosestar's head snapped up the instant Stormfall burst into camp from where it had ducked in his den. He was already on his paws before the tom finished speaking. Blood streaked from his torn ear, looking battle weary and tolled. RiverClan was attacking...and his stomach tightened. They might be actually making a move against their territory.
"ThunderClan! To me!" For a heartbeat, he scanned the clearing, instinctively searching for familiar pelts and remembered that Leopardrose, Oaktall, and Sunstrike were out on a hunting patrol near the Orchards. He wasn't sure where Smallbird was either...
"Greypebbles! Wrentalon! Brindlespice! Shadefrost!" He counted the forms he spotted as they emerged. "We're reinforcing them immediately..."
Then he turned towards more faces. "Coyotebloom, Savagefox, Dovethorn, and Mistyleaf! I want all of you on sentry duty. Guard the camp entrances. Skyblossom...you are to run to the Orchards to bring back Oaktall, Leopardrose, and Sunstrike and have you all follow us to the Stream Clearing! Rimepaw, Finchpaw, and Spidertongue will guard the nursery! Kestralswipe...you're in charge until I return." Moosestar was giving orders as if his own life depended on it.
"Tigerrush! Robinpaw! Prepare to treat the wounded...Stormfall, you've done enough. Seek treatment." Without another moment to waste, Moosestar bounded toward the camp entrance, nodding sharply to Greypebbles, Wrentalon, and Brindlespice. If RiverClan wanted a battleThunderClan would meet them head-on.
Bloodlines of strength ignite fierce souls

Wildcry had been resting only moments before the alarm split the camp and Stormfalls bloodied scent reached her nostrils. Her amber eyes narrowed sharply as Moosestar began ordering the Clan to action and she rose without hesitation as if she would be called to join Moosestar.
By the time Moosestar mustered up the Clan, Wildcry had already crossed to the elders' den, planting herself squarely at its entrance, head held high as she addressed Greenfang and Gingerthrash. "I don't care how many seasons sit on your shoulders. I don't care if your joints ache or your teeth are worn smooth. Every one of us has spilled blood for this Clan before. And I will happily do so again. We start by barricading the nursery." She hissed as her one eye shifted towards the nursery.
"If it comes to it...We exchange our lives for those kits. Even better to take those foxhearted fools with us." Only cold, hard certainy filled her maw. Even retired warriors had a duty and she rushed to move any shrubs or sticks out of the log and towards the nursery to reenforce it.

Rimepaw's head whipped toward the entrance just in time to see her sire stagger in, blood dripping from his shredded ear. He was hurt, but he was standing. Whatever relief she had was swallowed whole by a surge of excitement that followed Moosestar's announcement.
A battle!
Yet her grin faltered when she wasn't picked to join in the patrol...or even sentry duty! But a look from her mother made her stomp over to the nursery without 'verbal' complaint. Her chin sharply nodded over towards Spidertongue and Finchpaw. "I've got this side."
Every muscle begged to run after the warriors who were called to chase RiverClan all the way back across the stream. When Wildcry began dragging branches toward the nursery, Rimepaw darted forward to help, seizing a fallen limb in her jaws and wedging it against the entrance alongside the elder's makeshift barricade.

Skyblossom:
Hearing her name called, she listened carefully to Moosestar's instructions, muscles twitching with anticipation. Meeting eyes with Spidertongue, she noticed the ferocity in his orange eyes. He looked almost as though he was willing to kill all of RiverClan if it meant he could protect the kits. Protect anycat, honestly.
Darting away from where all the other cats were, she was determined to bring back Leopardrose, Oaktall, and Sunstrike. If she wasn't fast enough, how much would the Clan suffer? If she failed, would they blame her for everything? What if some cats didn't make it because of her?
Heart pounding, the pain in her chest made her push of the ground even harder, green eyes wavering as her paws pounded against the ground. Even when sticks and stones dug into her paw pads, she kept going. No physical pain would hurt more than the pain of being the one responsible for a cat's death. She knew that all to well.
As she grew close to the Orchard, she let out a piercing screech, her paws still pounding against the ground. She would be heard. All her fear, all her pain, all of her anticipation, everything in one earsplitting yowl. "RiverClan is attacking! Come with me to the Stream Clearing as fast as you can!" She continuously screeched, silently adding: Please. Please come. Please hear me. Please, please, please...!
Spidertongue:
Eyes lighting up at being given the important task of protecting the nursery, Spidertongue speedily darted over to the barricade that was being built, acknowledging the nearby Rimepaw and turning around to look at Finchpaw before speaking. "I'll take the middle. Do your best, Rimepaw, Finchpaw. Protecting the nursery is just as great an honor as being on the front lines. I am confident that you both will do well." He said, swallowing the excitement welling up inside him and acting calmly, just as a warrior should.
Ready to help build the barricade, he headed towards some relatively thick branches, knowing that they would be good for the job. Grabbing the first one, he pointed at them with his tail, telling the others that he'd found some good materials.
Hopefully Skyblossom was doing well with her task. He knew that she had a tendency to be very sensitive about things such as this. Oh well. He should focus on the task he was given. Skyblossom wasn't an apprentice anymore, and should be fine. Besides, if anything came up, he was sure that both she and the other warriors she was sent to fetch were capable enough to handle anything hurled at them.

Tigerrush's head poked from her den and she quickly hurried the rest of the way out as she heard Stormcall burst into camp. Her gaze sharped and focused on Stormfall, covered in blood and stumbling before trotting forward to start nosing him. "Where are you injured?" Were the first words from her mouth as she circled the warrior and began the process of treating him. "Is it just your ear?"
Over her shoulder, she called to her apprentice. "Robinpaw! Bring the comfrey roots, goldenrod leaves and some wet moss! Once we get Stormfall patched up, we'll finish organizing what we'll need."

Greypebbles was sitting in silent worry at the edge of camp, when he had woken up, Smallbird was completely absent from camp, he had been worried about her all day but when Stormfall burst into the camp, blood trailing behind him, Greypebbles stood immediately. Moosestar's came quick and his name was one of the first said. Oh StarClan... He took a glace at Spidertongue, his brother moving straight to the nursery. He was sure that their positions should be swapped, but he didn't question anything, not out loud anyway, he just followed orders.
He hesitated for just a moment, glancing down at his paws before nodding at Wrentalon and Brindlespice, he was the first to dart out of camp, following the trail where Stormfall had came from and taking a glance back to see if the warriors had been following them. Perhaps if he helped in the driving force to drive off RiverClan, then he would be recognized for something other than 'just a regular warrior'. Maybe something would come of it, but perhaps not, he wasn't sure. But he was sure of one thing.
He wasn't letting ThunderClan lose so easily.
Don’t compromise yourself - you’re all you have.

"On it!" Robinpaw answered before darting towards the medicine den at Tigerrush's command. It was Stormfall that needed tending to first out of all the cats there, then preparations would be made. But now, she was needed for herbs, what she lacked in experience, she had in speed and efficiency in her paws.
She snapped the Comfrey roots and goldenrod leaves in her jaws, darting back over to the scene and placing them beside her mentor, then darting back into the medicine den for the moss, she couldn't move to the stream to soak up water into it, but she would find a way.
She left the camp with the clump of moss, but it didn't take very long to return with it soaked. There wasn't a lot of time and the camp was already moving to make battle preparations. Greypebbles and the main cats on the brunt of battle had already left the camp for the battle. Robinpaw held the moss carefully in her teeth as she rushed over to the bleeding Stormfall. "We should take him to the den, we don't need to block paths of other cats." She spoke firmly through the water soaked moss. "The extra stress from being out here won't help."
I’m surrounded by idiots...

Gingerthrash nodded at Wildcry's words, he hadn't intended on making any complaints about it, about his joints and paws, he was needed as much as any other cat. And he had no reservations about it. "Will do, Wildcry." He spoke in that gruff way that he did, but there was nothing but determination and respect there. Battle ready as he wanted to be, his body wasn't as it used to be, the nursery was fine for now, but if it came to it, he'd have his pelt shredded for ThunderClan, even in his old age.
He then followed Wildcry, Greenfang trailing behind him as he moved to reinforce the nursery with sturdy sticks. He cast a sidelong glance at his former apprentice, Spidertongue and gave a nod to him, a bit of respect in the heat of the moment, more than he would do any other time. "Defend the nursery like you've been told to Spidertongue, we have this handled." he growled at his former apprentice sternly while moving to reinforce weaker patches of the nursery.

Coyotebloom had little time to react when everything broke into chaos at once, Stormfall barging in, Moosestar barking orders, Skyblossom and her patrol racing off to grab the cats that were out of their own patrol, cats leaving camp to reinforce the battling warriors. Everything was happening at first and she cast a few sidelong glances at the cats said to stay on sentry with her, she looked particularly at Savagefox, would they be enraged of the lack of outright battle they were placed on? She wasn't sure.
But regardless, she did her duty as asked, ThunderClan needed her and it was only a matter of time since her warrior ceremony that she needed to put her claws to use. But she hoped that the RiverClan warriors didn't make an advance to their camp.
But if they did... Coyotebloom would be ready!

Kestrelswipe was almost rendered speechless by Stormfall's sudden announcement. Riverclan attack? What was Coldstar thinking? His shut his jaw as Moosestar began making orders, hurrying over to his apprentice. "Remember everything we've covered. Starclan forbid they even think about coming to our camp, but I know you'll have this covered if you do. Listen to Wildcry."
Stormfall let out a relieved breath as the clan rallied around him. Hearing Tigerrush and Robinpaw's words, he gave a nod. "It's just my ear--one of them tore it up bad. Leg hurts too," he grunted, lifting up his right hind leg to show them, "but that's normal." With the apprentice at his side, he started off towards the medicine den. He only hoped no one else would have to join him.
Wrentalon's claws dug into the ground. His fur had bristled at the first sound of Stormfall's announcement, and now his anger boiled beneath his pelt. Whatever Riverclan thought they were doing, they were going to face the consequences. There was no way he was going to let those waterlogged fleabags get away with this.
Tigerrush's eyes narrowed ever so briefly at her apprentice's words, but she didn't pause in her exam of her patient, though it was less insistent than it had been moments before as he responded to her questions. Since Stormfall and Robinpaw seemed to insist to move to her den, instead of using the supplies the apprentice had brought to her, the little brown tabby huffed softly before giving new instructions. "Grab the comfrey and goldenrod and join us in the medicine den." Then she reached to grab the wet moss from Robinpaw and stepped forward to guide Stormfall to the medicine den, offering her shoulder if he needed it.
"Go. I'll be here."

Without missing a beat, the tomcat offered his leader a nod, not waiting even a heartbeat to check whether or not Moosestar was looking in his direction. That didn't matter. What mattered was that the kittens of ThunderClan were safe.
Padding into the nursery, the tom settled close to the kits, being careful not to wake the sleeping kittens.
