Fawnstar's tail twitched as she felt the familiar knot of anxiety in her belly as she prepared to call a meeting for the Gathering this moon. WindClan's luck hadn't held and wasn't spared by the wayward Rogue's attacks, unlike last moon. She wondered what would the other clans would say when they find out the murderer had been able to dispatch not one but two warriors in a single fight. She worried for her warriors, and especially for the two new apprentices in training. Shaking her head for a moment, she told herself that she chose and trusts the cats chosen as mentors and trsuted her warriors to defend their clan fiercely and completely if that's what it came down to.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she called out to her clan in a strong voice. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet beneath the Talking Cliff for a clan meeting!"
Boulderdash looked up from where she sat, her mouthful of vole that she was enjoying. Blinking up at Fawnstar, she wondered would get to go to the Gathering tonight. Chewing a few times and swallowing before taking another mouthful, she didn't expect to get to go again this moon, but thought that no doubt the new apprentices, her sister and Bayflower would be going. Hmmm, would anyone else be joining them?
Brightmaple had been loafing beside the elder's den, letting the apprentices clean it out as she had enjoyed the brief warmth of the sun and fallen asleep. The breeze filtered through her fur and at Fawnstar's call, she opened her eyes and listened curiously to who might be going to the gathering tonight. As much as she wanted to see her youngest kits' first time, she felt that she'd much rather stay behind and just rest.
Oatpaw looked up from the elder's den where he was making fresh nests for the sleepy lumps. He had been an apprentice for almost a week and, at the moment, his mentor seemed to only want him to fetch moss, clean out old bedding and make new nests. He had only really been out in the territory for the tour of the borders the day he was apprenticed and when he was actually fetching the moss. Granted, even this nest cleaning business had been wearing him out! It was a lot harder than it looked! Though, since it was his first gathering since being made an apprentice, shouldn't he and Heatherpaw be going to get introduced? That should be fun, right? Would he have time to grab a bite from the freshkill pile first before they left?

Barleyswipe was taking her sweet time hauling her ragged pelt across camp from finishing a tucked in meal. She had made her way into camp when the apprentices took over cleaning the beds and desired a bit more space to herself. Didn't help that the whole clan was now congregating in the usual meeting place - so she decided to stay where she was to at least hear what Fawnstar had to say.

A yawn pitched the maw of the red and white warrior as he blinked blearily out from his nest. Ears flicked forward at the sound of his leader's call, and lifted himself with a shuddering stretch. Before he left the den he gave himself a few straightening licks, and emerged with a confident splay of his gaze up towards Fawnstar before taking his place near the nursery.

Heatherpaw was happy to join her brother in cleaning out bedding nests. Both of their dams were elders themselves, so in a way, it was returning the favor. Everyone in the clan needed to be cared for, and it started with the most vunerable of them. She couldn't help but chatter on about their first gathering - Who knew how many cats they'd meet!

Beewhisker watched from the nursery with Berrykit and Cedarkit as the meeting call rang out throughout the clan. They had one eye cracked open and the other was closed as they had just woken up and noticed Basilflame slipping away from her visit to the nursery, not that Beewhisker minded the visit. It turned out that they had become quite the light sleeper and was woken by pretty much anything. So the meeting was more than likely the thing that had woken them.
But that didn't matter to them, they were just happy that their kits were growing healthy and strong, that is what really matters and soon enough, they'd be apprentices themselves, and what a day that would be.

Fallpaw padded out to the clearing, happy to have gotten some time away from the eager new apprentices. While they were cleaning out the elders' bedding, he'd been able to stay busy fixing some weak spots he'd noticed in the warriors' den structure. As he took his seat by the talking cliff, he wondered if he'd be afforded the same space tonight with the gathering selections.

At Fawnstar's call, Bayflower stepped out of the nursery, the molly finding a nice spot where she could hear and see the leader clearly before tucking Cedarkit close to her. She'd become an apprentice soon as well and Bayflower couldn't wait for that day. She was sure that Fawnstar would choose the best mentor for Cedarkit.

Cedarkit wiggled out of their nest, the feline bounding after Bayflower. The kitten, much like their sire, loved to feed their curiosity. Once they tucked themselves under their sire, they looked up at Fawnstar with bright eyes. Sure they weren't going to the gathering buyt listening in was still fun.
