Padding away from the camp exit after finding out that she'd been replaced by some other cat on the dawn patrol, Skyblossom looked around the mostly empty and quiet camp, enjoying the cool stillness that came with the weather. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled slowly, feeling strangely relieved. To whichever cat had taken her place on the dawn patrol, she thanked them silently, looking forward to spending some time alone in her small relaxation area between the elder's den and the nursery.
Lying down in the small pile of leaves that she had gathered into a small nest and looking up at the clouds, Skyblossom felt a small leap of pleasure burst through her. If she were to ever have kits, maybe she'd ask her leader to name one Cloudkit. It was a name that she had always liked, even when she was a young kit. Looking back, she seemed to remember having an imaginary friend that she called Cloudkit. Maybe that was why the name was so precious to her?
Coming back to the current time, she listened to the contented and tired mewls coming from the nursery. She hoped she hadn't woken the kits, especially since she tended to say her thoughts aloud. Thinking they had only awakened half-way, she grew as silent as she could.
Suddenly feeling cold, both inside and out, she shifted in her temporary make-shift nest, trying to remember the last time she had felt another cat's pelt against her own. Trying to distract herself from any negative thoughts, she brushed the thought off, crushing it with the assumption that it had only been a few sunrises and that she just had a terrible memory. Of course, that failed, so she began thinking much more deeply about it. It was probably between the time she became an apprentice and the time she received her warrior name...
Before she could stop herself, she began to drift off, and soon, she found herself in a misty and dark clearing, the scent of water close by. Looking around, she was suddenly plunged into a blurry dream.
"Mama? Why are you so tired all the time?" The young Skykit asked, looking up at her mother's tired and blurred face in confusion. Touching her nose to her mother's shoulder, she shook her, trying to get her to answer her question.
"Oh." She thought, her throat tightening.
"Huh?" Her mother said, pausing for a moment and staring down at her with confusion. "Wh-who are you?" She finally asked, her voice but a raspy whisper.
"I'm your daughter, Skykit! D-don't you remember me, Mama?" She asked, shaking her mother with her forepaws in desperation, her mewing going unanswered.
Suddenly, a flash of recognition showed in her mother's hazy eyes. "Skykit! Oh yes, I remember now. Ah, silly me! How could I forget my one and only daughter?" She let out a mrrow of laughter, but it seemed quite half-hearted, as though she knew something that she didn't.
"Why don't you go out to play, dear?" She said, her voice cheerful. Tilting her head and narrowing her eyes with concern, worry filled her.
"But Mama! Can't you see? It's too late for me to be out right now!" She mewed, causing her mother to give her another look of confusion.
"O-Oh. W-well I say! It seems that I've lost track of time! Why don't I tell you a story instead?" She meowed, only causing her concern to deepen.
After a long time, her mother's story ended, and the two curled up next to each other, the warmth so comforting... and yet, a split of pain went through her. Why did this night seem so much more... cold? Scary? Lonely?
As she closed her eyes, she suddenly felt her mother's warmth fading, and her breathing became shallow. Leaping to her feet in fear, she shook her mother over and over, hoping that she was simply falling into a deep slumber, but no matter what she did, her mother wouldn't open her eyes. As her mother's breathing faded, she heard a small whisper, one that felt so, so very heart-chilling. "I love you, Skykit... I love you so, so, so much..."
Opening her eyes, an odd heaviness weighing on her chest, she wondered if that was really just a dream. It felt so real, so painful. Just watching made her want to wait out in anguish, but she hadn't been able to. Shivering, she stood, wanting to go on a hunt to distract her from the weight in her chest.

Coyotebloom had just been enjoying a piece of prey in camp, her usual dark spot where the shade was calmest when she heard subtle mewing in the distance, Skyblossom was sleeping, dreaming probably. However the dreaming, from Coyotebloom's view, had begun to darken. The young warrior's ears pinned for a moment, she walked over, intent on waking Skyblossom from he dream. However, by the time she was able to get close enough, Skyblossom had already begun to walk away. And then she took a deep breath, her heart feeling just about ready to leap from her chest when she let out a soft sigh.
"Skyblossom!" She called politely, a twitch in her tail offering a friendly greeting, from the little cats that didn't seem to hate her, she had spoken to Skyblossom the least, and from what Coyotebloom had seen, it was something that was bothering her. "Sorry to interrupt, but I could join you on a hunt if you like... if that's... where you were heading off too." Coyotebloom stammered when she had begun to think that she was assuming, she hated to assume something of a cat, but what else would a warrior be doing leaving the camp on a day like today?
She finally took a few hesitant steps forward with a warm smile, as warm as she could make it without making her anxiety so awkwardly known. "But... if you're after a solo hunt... I leave you be." Coyotebloom answered with a softer tone, she had felt immediately like she had soiled the interaction before it properly started. But truly, her own mind just took to wondering to the worst outcomings, that was her downfall.

Looking at Coyotebloom with a stunned expression on her face, she wondered how long she'd been watching her. Managing a small smile, she nodded, her throat too tight for her to speak. Clearing her throat, she spoke, her voice cracking. "Th-that's fine. I was going to see if I could catch a few pieces of prey since the prey pile is looking a little s-small." She said, glancing over at the pile only to be dismayed to find that it was full since an early hunting patrol had went out a while after the dawn patrol.
Embarrassed by her terrible lie, she swished her tail, a confused and desperate expression on her face for a moment. Giving Coyotebloom an awkward smile she spoke again, this time barely managing the first few words. "O-Oh. I guess the h-hunting patrol came back while I was asleep..." continuing awkwardly, she tried to seem cheerful, but it probably looked like she was a kit lying about getting into the medicine cats' herbs. "No matter, I'm sure that we could use the prey either way."
Beckoning Coyotebloom to follow her with a swish of her tail, she stepped forward, pausing to look up at the sky first. It looked almost as though it were going to rain, but by the scent in the air, she knew it wouldn't. Looking back down and shaking her head, she continued on, smelling a thrush close by.

Coyotebloom let out a well humored sign at the mistake, she could say with embarrassment that she had made that mistake once as well, but she didn't think that would help with the situation. Not when there could be more hunting to be done.
She followed Skyblossom out of camp with a soft trill, hoping that it would make her company more pleasant to the clanmate, however, there was not true way of knowing that. Not really, not when she had spent so long just trying to have her clanmates accept her for who she was and yet, some still snapped at her for having different blood from them. But she knew at least one cat felt the same... maybe time will pass long enough for ThunderClan to make peace with it.
When Skyblossom eyed the thrush, Coyotebloom didn't even consider it as an option, she glanced over to her blue-furred clanmate and gave a gentle nod. "I'll hunt a little further, to not disturb the progress." Coyotebloom whispered her pale lilac tinted fur making her stick out in the underbrush like a thorn in the paw, but she had learned what to do to get progress in hunting. And with the prey still here, she had a good chance hunting nearby.
Coyotebloom lifted her nose, the mauve leathery organ twitched as she took in the scents around her, then one seemed to curl her ears, a squirrel, and the scent didn't travel upward to any tree, it was grounded. And it didn't take long before Coyotebloom saw the greyish brown body and advanced in a hunter's crouch.

Straightening with the thrush in her jaws, she glanced over at Coyotebloom, excitement bursting through her when she saw the squirrel in her jaws. Hiding her thrush underneath of a bush, she trotted over, all thoughts of the dream she'd had blown away. "Nice catch!" She said cheerfully, tilting her head with a smile as she pointed Coyotebloom in the direction of the small stash she had made for when they came back that way to get to camp.
Letting her gaze soften, she stood, swishing her tail and taking in the scent of the forest, ignoring the stale scents and focusing on the fresh ones. Finding a more recent one, she headed towards the scent of a vole, determining that it must have been a plump one by how large the scent trail was and the quite obvious indentations in the mud.
Stalking towards the creature, she leapt forward, landing squarely on top of it and slitting its throat. Holding the vole in her jaws, she trotted back over to the "prey bush" slipping her catch underneath it with the rest of the prey. Smiling despite no cat being in sight, she wondered how long it would be until the first frost. Though leaf-bare was considered hard times, she rather enjoyed it, the fresh air unlike any other she had felt before.
Shaking herself out of her small trance, she dropped into the hunter's crouch, spotting a mouse scuttling around in the leaf-litter. Following it for a small amount of time, she watched it slip into a hollowed out fallen tree, where, on closer inspection, multiple mice lived, huddled together and occasionally nibbling at seeds that were scattered around inside.
Creeping silently away, Skyblossom decided that it would be more productive to get Coyotebloom to help. If she went in for the kill alone, she'd get less prey. Besides, it had been a little while since she'd hunted with somecat as a team. Following Coyotebloom's scent, excitement pulsing through her, she wondered how many mice they would be able to catch.
When she finally found her, she barely had time to breathe before excitedly and uncontrolably telling Coyotebloom about the mice. "I found multiple mice inside of a fallen tree. Do you want to come and catch them with me?" She asked, pausing a couple of times to catch her breath.

With the squirrel successfully caught and dangling her her jaws, Coyotebloom let out a purr of pride, part of her was certain that it'd go running up the tree and she would have lost a piece of prey for the day, but she caught it, and it rose a purr in her throat. Almost making her forget she was out here with a partner. She nudged the squirrel beneath a bushel of bracken before glancing up just in time to meet Skyblossom as she padded over.
"Multiple mice? How many do you think there is?" The lilac she-cat enquired, while a lot of prey was good, overhunting could be greedy. It sounded like Skyblossom had found a mouse nest, which can have quite a lot of mice in it or have as much as just a few. "Do you think they've go reason enough to come out so we can catch them?" She asked, flicking her tail, the act of trying to slip into a mouse den would waste time that could be better spent elsewhere, waiting for the mice to leave the den was a better option, at least to Coyotebloom. And they did have prey in the pile, as Skyblossom had pointed out prior.
Coyotebloom stetched out her limbs her tail curling behind her as she shook out her coat. Regardless of the amount of prey or their activity, she supposed it was still prey for the two to bring back. And any is much better than none. "Where is it? You can lead me there." Coyotebloom replied, getting her paws ready to follow her clanmate towards the stash of prey ready for the taking.

As she pointed with her tail towards where she had found the mice, Skyblossom spoke, the excitement of a young hunter bursting through her. "There are at least five or six of them. The tree is hollowed out on both sides, and the bark right next to where they're nesting looks flimsy, but I don't know that it would be a good option. Too much risk of injury." She said, walking towards the fallen tree as she spoke, looking back to make sure Coyotebloom was following.
Thinking of strategies while she walked, Skyblossom almost forgot to look where she was going, turning to left just before she ran into an oak tree. Hoping that Coyotebloom hadn't seen her distracted mistake, she swished her tail, signaling for Coyotebloom to drop into the hunter's crouch. "It's that one with the moss growing on it." She said, pointing at it with her tail before continuing. "I think if one of us scares the mice on the other side, they'll try to get away and run into the other cat's paws." She finished, looking at Coyotebloom to see if she approved of the plan.
Pausing for a moment, she continued, remembering something that Coyotebloom had said earlier. "This way, we're bound to lose some of them." She said, continuing sarcastically with a small afterthought. "Unless they run out one at a time for one of us to snatch with our claws."

Coyotebloom nodded at the plan, it was solid, and if there were that many mice in the den, then the wouldn't need more than say... two or three. As long as they left some to reproduce and continue the species for future prey. "I'll chase them out, you could catch as many as you can. But they will likely avoid their nest when some escape. So if you're happy with going back to camp after that, I think we would have made a good haul for the two of us." She suggested, it was meant to be light, an offer to share tongues at camp if not anything else. "Maybe we could share a squirrel or a bird. After Orchidflame and the elders have been fed of course."
When they arrived at the mouse den, Coyotebloom's ears twitched, not only could she smell them, it was potent, she could hear them too. The chittering and shuffling of the mice crawling about in the den, unaware they were being targetted. "I'll wait for your signal." she whispered before slipping into the shade of the tree above and hey orange eyes locking onto the entrance of the little den, she saw the light on the other side, hoping it would soon be blocked by Skyblossom.
And so, the pale she-cat waited, letting her muscles loosen for easy movement. She would wait for Skyblossom, after all, this was a team effort, they wouldn't be able to catch any of these mice without the other, after all.

After receiving Coyotebloom's approval of the plan, Skyblossom crept towards the log, lashing her tail silently after shuffling quietly into a perfect hunter's crouch. Laying her ears back to block out some of the annoying chattering, she tensed her hindlegs, ready to leap forward at the first mouse she could.
When the first couple of mice sped out of the log, she dashed into their path, her claws ripping at the mouse's gray pelt. Leaving her fresh catch, she killed a second one with her fangs, going after a third out of instinct. Chasing the mouse, she led it towards where Coyotebloom was, knowing that she'd most likely catch it in between her paws.
Her green eyes glowing, she blocked the mouse's escape, watching as it ran towards Coyotebloom. Excitement making her fur stand on end, she watched the mouse, the anticipation being refreshing. Staying ready in case the mouse ran a different way, she wondered why she felt like a different cat when she was hunting or practicing her fighting moves. No matter. She'd just accept it.

Coyotebloom didn't hesitated when the startled mouse came barreling toward her. Her teeth quickly sank into the small body and gripped until there was only stillness and the scent of fresh kill in her nose. A purr of triumph rose in her throat, it may just be a mouse to others, but to Coyotebloom, every piece of caught prey was a blessing, something deserving of praise. Not matter how big or small. "Well caught, Skyblossom!" The pale warrior cheered, twitching her tail with enthusiasm.
Then she turned back to the direction of camp and smiled, this was a good haul to bring back, and she worried if they had caught any more, the load would have been too heavy. So she turned back to the fellow warrior and smiled, a crooked and nervous smile, maybe Skyblossom wanted to hunt more with her... would she be disapointing the she-cat with her suggestion to go back to camp? There was only one way to find out.
"We could take this haul back to camp now. If you want to!" Coyotebloom began a little softer then her body perked up with a nervous jitter that didn't do more than bristle her fur slightly before she promptly flattened it again. "I'm sure we'll have a lot of prey to bring home for the elders and queens." She purred, defending her previous statement. Just in case Skyblossom was angry at her for even asking.

Brightening when she heard Coyotebloom's words of praise, she instinctually spoke out, her words a whisper, possibly unheard by her hunting companion. "It's your catch too, Coyotebloom. You did well catching it when I didn't warn you."
Walking with Coyotebloom to their small stash of prey, Skyblossom wondered why Coyotebloom had seemed so jumpy and worried during their hunt. Maybe she wasn't quite used to interacting with the others, like her? Or maybe it was her? She was a little hard to approach, wasn't she?
As she pondered upon these things, a patch of flowers caught her eye, their light pink petals standing out among the vivid colors of the forest. Walking over to them, she picked a couple, their colors simply to wonderful for her to ignore. Maybe the kits would like to mess around with them? And if not, maybe the elders would like to see them.
Running ahead of Coyotebloom, two mice and a few flowers dangling in her jaws, she stopped by the "prey bush", managing to grip the vole in her jaws despite how full they were. Waiting by the camp entrance for Coyotebloom, she began day-dreaming about eating the squirrel that Coyotebloom had caught, slowly drifting into a daze.

"I suppose so, but it was your idea." Coyotebloom answered, giving credit where credit was due, she didn't deny that it was the obvious thing to do like she would have done as an apprentice, but instead, she simply acknowledged that the two both did swimmingly, and followed her to the bush that they had hidden the prey under while holding the mice by their tails. "I think if we make a couple of trips we could get these back in no time." She suggested with a soft smile however it was slightly muffled by the mouse tails clasped in her mouth and in addition, the fat mice hanging from them.
For starters, she would take the prey she had caught back to camp so they wouldn't get old. She nodded to herself before dropping the mice down in place of the much heavier squirrel by the fluffy tail before making pace back to camp and dropping it swiftly in the pile. She hoped she wasn't overthinking the interaction, but maybe, just maybe she could get closer to Skyblossom, perhaps she could have a real friend in the clan that wasn't her mentor and her adoptive father.
When she got back, she hoped that Skyblossom had made good with her idea and come to collect the prey she had hunted as well as she picked the bunch of mice up by their tails and made her way back to camp, she nodded her head, this was a good hunt, maybe she would be able to spend some more time with Skyblossom another time. Yeah, that sounded nice.

Padding back into camp, Skyblossom noticed that she and Coyotebloom had spent a lot more time in the forest than she'd expected. Looking around she noticed that Coyotebloom had gone back into camp while she'd been day-dreaming. Ruffling her pelt, she told herself that it was fine, acknowledging that the warrior had probably wanted to let her be.
Walking to the prey pile and carefully dropping a mouse and her vole onto the already large pile, she held the flowers she had picked losely in her jaws, leaving the first in her make-shift napping nest, leaving another by the nursery, and leaving the third in the warriors den by the nest she believed to be Coyotebloom's. Putting the last flower in her fur, she wondered when she'd seen Coyotebloom again.
Skyblossom was normally spending her free time in a secluded spot either in-between the nursery and the elders' den or having a calming venture to her favorite spot in the woods, the unused clearing that was just small enough for eight cats to sleep in at once. It was an area covered by bushes, so it was normally not a good place to hunt.
Mind wandering, Skyblossom, walked out of the warriors den, heading over to her napping nest and looking at her reflection in a small pool of water that was hidden there. Smiling when she saw the flower nestled in her fur, she curled up, ready to take another nap. She knew that this time, everything would be fine. No dreams would come upon her while she slept. She normally only had one a day anyways.
