Tonight was a night like any other, although this night marked a slightly different occassion. Again would be the ancestral summoning to Fourtrees to exchange news of the past moon. With the relative calm of the previous couple moons, she was hoping that tonight would be no different. With a rallying cry from her usual position, the she-cat's bushy tail flicked pointedly.
"Let all cats old enough to catch thier own prey join here in the shelter of the briar patch for a clan meeting!"

The old ginger tabby was still curled in his nest, only slightly dozing. A shudder tore through his pelt as he heard Palestar's call, and made to gingerly step out of his nest. He sat nearby the den's entrance, blinking calmly up at Palestar.

Today had been a day of daily tasks. He worked his paws off trying to gather moss for the elder's den earlier and even tore through the fluffy remnants of prey to make sure the elders would be comfortable come the approaching cold of Leafbare. His face had been soured in a grimace the whole time, and was glad to leave the den behind for some light exercise outside of camp. Gone where the days of frog and lizard hunting. Duskpaw had to think more creatively when it came down to prey... He nearly missed a chickadee earlier, but made up for it by snatching a thin lemming by the marsh. What he wouldn't give to snack on a bird right about now.

With a yawn, Emberdust emerged from the warrior's den, having spent some time napping before the Gathering meeting just in case she would be called to join them. Her stubby tail shuddered with excitement at the thought, wondering if anything exciting had been happening between the clans. She searched the camp area for Specklenose, meandering lightly as she did so as she awkwardly considered where she would listen to Palestar.

Sootbounce:
The gathering night was here again, and Sootbounce hadn't gotten over how exciting visiting the other clans were. Especially since there were a few Thunderclan cats he wanted to see! He hoped they would be there, anyways.
Hopping to sit near the front of the crowd, he grinned at Palestar. Even if she didn't pick him, he would have a grand old time at camp. His newfound freedom had served him well with his wanderings all over the territory and he had brought back some choice prey - at least in his mind - because for ONCE his pelt actually blended in with his surroundings. It saved him from having to freeze everytime he wanted to stalk a single mouse.
'Erdu! Come sit here!" He waved his tail at the (slightly) older she-cat, waiting for the orange cat to come sit. She seemed preoccupied but maybe she was just looking for the perfect spot. And in his mind it was the front so Palestar remembered he was here!
Redpaw:
The gathering! Redpaw had watched his brother grimace through his elder's duties all day. In his defence they hadn't been the most fun or exciting. But he enjoyed listening to the older cats talk to one another and it gave him an excuse to hang out with Hickorystorm. Plus, while the elders did complain sometimes if you read between the lines there was some real advice and information to be had. He wasn't even sure if the elder's knew about it!
Either way, he should probably get the mouse bile and such off his paws if was gonna be chosen. Redpaw made sure to bump into Duskpaw playfully, trying to knock him off balance before continuing his way to a snowdrift to clean off.

Heronsong flexed her paws as Palestar called cats together for the Gathering. Like her apprentice, she had also spent the day doing daily chores, mostly changing out damp bedding with fresher, dryer moss. As hard as that was when snow was falling more frequently. She could use some excitement to end her day. If I don't end up going, she thought as she sat with the group, I'll try to share some prey with someone. Maybe Emberdust or Sootbounce. Some energy would be nice.
Even in the darkest shadows, there is always a glimmer of light. We just have to look for it.

Clovershine moved valiantly despite her lop sided gait into the main clearing as her littermate's call. She knew that the gathering was today, and she knew that she could actually go now that she was back to her warrior duties, one of which was training her son, Dazzlepaw, she gave her other kits, Redpaw and Duskpaw a sideward glanced and a smile as she limped into the main clearing, eager to hear about which cat would be going to the gathering.
The thoughts of who might go to the gathering lingered in her head, she knew who she would pick this moon, but she was not the leader, Palestar was and she was a fine leader at that. The cream lynx point she-cat glanced up at her sister, her eyes filled with affection and pride, despite not being in charge of her position, Palestar was doing quite well as leader and she couldn't be more prouder of her dear sister.

Specklenose hurried out of the warrior's den after hearing the familiar call of Palestar, their silvery pelt a shiny gleam amidst the dull frosted ground. Standing tall, he eyed around the group hoping to spot Emberdust, or any of their friends really. Within the small crowd he could see the wiggling, stumpy tail of his cinnamon friend and made their way towards her, paws stepping lightly as if to not make a ruckus despite his tumbling entrance from the warriors den. He cozied up to Emberdust, shivering slightly, 'I almost don't wanna be picked. Too. Cold.'

Emerging from the depths of the elders den where Pebbleshine spent most of her time, the silver spotted she-cat sat tentatively outside the entrance. She was perfectly capable of making her way to the gathering, and while she always liked them, part of her was scared to go, to be surrounded by warriors who might just be older than her while she hid within the safety of retirement. An outing would be good nonetheless.
-
Dazzlepaw had been with Redpaw that afternoon. He had been looking for a bit of company, plus wanted to spend some time with his brother too. He grinned as Redpaw aimed a nudge at his other brother, Duskpaw, hoping to see him fall flat on his face.

Flutterdream had been counting her herb stores, making sure she had what she needed properly prepared for the already arrived cold. She had a decent amount of dried herbs, but with the unpredictability of the season, it was always better to overstock, especially when some herbs she wouldn't see grow again until Greenleaf. Her gaze drifted over to the elders den. She had brought up taking some of the elders, Hickorystorm in particular to this gathering to Palestar. It was both on outing they deserved, along with some stimulation that would do them good. Tasking the apprentices to guiding Hickorystorm would be a good exercise for the younger ones. Pebbleshine, her sister, could come along for the journey too. It had been a while since she saw her sister go out.

Walking up to the talking spot, their eyes lay on the gathered area, hoping to see a seat for themselves. So they landed on being in the back of the crowd. Brackenwing does not have in mind to go to the gathering, but that will backfire if they were selected, otherwise having no choice to oblige. For the moment, they have their long tail wrapped around their body and have their attention steady to the leader.

Hickorystorm had been sleeping in his nest, warm enough and comfy after the apprentices replaced the moss and even added some critter fluff to the nests. He started lightly, ears giving a twitch as he heard Palestar's call to gather.
Even after all this time since he lost his sight, he couldn't keep track of the rise and fall of the sun so he had trouble tracking the days between Gatherings. It might be another ceremony of sorts, but he knew it wasn't an apprentice or warrior ceremony- there weren't any other kits to be made apprentice, it was only been recently that they had been made apprentices and he knew it hadn't been that long. So must be a Gathering.
Yawning widely and allowing himself a luxurious stretch with an appreciative groan, the blind chocolate tabby easily made his way to the entrance of the den by following the scent of cooler air until he found himself coming up on Honeyglow. "Think you'll get to go this time?" He asked conversationally, though his voice was still a little gruff from sleep.
Shaking her pelt out as she left slumped out of the warriors den, Echobright blinked heavily while gazing around at all the cats gathering around her leader. She was still crestfallen over the choice of Duskpaws mentor but at the same time she saw the wisdom in the choice. She stalked forward and sat next to Hickorystorm. Her ears twitching as she heard his question to Honeyglow. She remained silent as her gaze fell upon her leader. Who would Palestar pick to go to the gathering?

Palestar waited patiently as her clan gathered underneath the guiding light of the moon. Once she believed the time was right, the pale she-cat continued. "As well as myself, Dawnflurry, and Flutterdream, Redpaw, Echobright, Hickorystorm, and Pebbleshine will be joining us tonight. Hersonsong and Duskpaw will be in charge of keeping watch tonight. Let's go." She mewed, a pointed flick of her luxorious tail the only indication of her motion as she dipped down into the crowd and began to lead those called towards the eastern entrance of camp.

Hickorystorm was going? That was a nice surprise. "Have fun," Hollyclaw meowed warmly as she brushed past her brother and the others.
She didn't mind staying in tonight. The camp walls weren't going to check themselves for drafts, as she was sure Hawkfeather'd soon remind her from her spot by the elders' den, especially since someone had mentioned cold...
Dawnflurry currently bore little grudge against the cold, but sometimes it made him wonder how WindClan cats could stand the moors. Then again, it wasn't as if he'd toured any mouse-length of their territory. He'd only seen what could be seen from where he was allowed to tread.
Well, he thought as Palestar summoned the Gathering group to the entrance, I suppose I could ask.

Hickorystorm would have blinked in surprise if he could have. As is, his ears twitched instead as he slipped past Honeyglow. "Didn't think I'd actually ever go again." He murmured, his tone holding only a hint of uncertainty. After the disaster of trying to leave camp several days before, he wasn't too confident about making the long trek to the Gathering. But he supposed at least Redpaw was going and perhaps even Pebbleshine going might help his anxiety of leaving the camp without the confidence he yearned to once again have. The chocolate tabby tom made his way to the entrance of the camp before waiting uneasily for the rest of the cats announced to gather.
