Beneath the Twinwillows

Boldstar:
The night was young but still cold and growing colder by the moment. Boldstar was glad to get moving for the evening as his joints, although graced with youth beyond his years, were feeling the stiff claws of leafbare. Unlike the last gatherings the temperature drop had made it worse, and the bark of the tree felt like a sheet of ice as he made his way to the boughs.
The moon stared unblinking down at the clan as he called out to the cats milling around the Twinwillows, his breath escaping as clouded puffs.
“All cats old enough to catch their own prey should gather here in the shade of the Twinwillow!”
(OOC: I have received permission from Kit to post in their stead, see Discord)

Coldgaze:
Perched above his clan, Coldgaze was restless. The year hadn't been harsh - yet. But he has encountered loners on the borders and there was division amongst the leadership about what should be done.
Cracks were beginning to form. It was only a matter of time before things would have to change, or risk breaking.
______
Sturgeonpaw:
Puffing out his chest, Sturgeonpaw made certain that he was in the front of the clan as Boldstar called for a meeting. This was the first time any of them could go! He didn't know if the clan wanted to bring everyone. But he wasn't about to get left behind... unless it was between him and his sisters. Then they could go instead.

Ambersmudge arrives and sits down a spot where she isn't in the front row, but seated at a bigger space where she could view up the leader afar. Her tails wrap up to her paws, adjusting her seat comfortably. She wonders if this is about the gathering? If so it is...great!
The warrior does look forward to going for the gathering, hoping to see what will be new over there. Curious how'd any of the other clans have handled this cold condition of the weather.

Briarfang gave their dark coat a shake, hoping the movement would warm them up. They didn't love the idea of staying out all night in the cold. It would be far preferable to curl up inside and share warmth. In the back of their mind, they couldn't help but wonder what their young apprentice was thinking, as they gave a subtle, sideways glance toward Hailpaw.
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa. Pressure that'll tip, tip tip 'till you just go pop, whoa.

Cottonbright had to stop herself from startling herself as she returned back into camp from a quick trip. A regretful looking expression decorated her face as she returned without anything to show for it, but she was hopeful that maybe she'd be able to attend the Gathering. Maybe she'd catch another glimpse of that dark pelted cat from Windclan... What was their name again, Barkflower?

A kitty brow raised as Nettleplume heard the distinguished cry of Boldstar stretch through the grove. With a sigh, he pushed a pile of molded herbs to the side to be disposed of when he returned - perhaps - once he returned to the Gathering. With a aloof sort of stride, his cream ticked pelt stalked from the warren where his blue eyes quickly found the huge grey tom.
What I dream, the day might send. Just around the riverbend.

Otterwhisker's tongue rasped along the back of Merrypaw's head as they waited by the fresh kill pile, pleased she had managed to get her chores done before the exciting announcement. Merrypaw and her siblings would surely go to Fourtrees tonight. She'd be there in spirit through all of her children, although she certainly enjoyed the closeness that her and Merrypaw still shared.

After a tough day of cleaning out bedding and replacing their nests with fresh moss, Merrypaw felt a bit tired. Yet she couldn't head to her nest just yet - even if her mother's tongue made her buzz with coziness - the Gathering was going to be announced! And she'd be there! Her wide eyes blinked up at Boldstar, waiting for the announcement.

Goosesong slipped out of the warrior's den and glanced around at the sound of Boldstar's call. With a twitch of his nose, the clan was already gathering at a reasonable pace, as he walked past all the warriors, he gave a noteable twitch of his tail to each as a subtle greeting. Goosesong then glanced over at his apprentice, Stormpaw. Shaping up well he thought to himself before sitting down beside Briarfang, no particular reason beside him being there really.
I am shaped by the trials I refuse to surrender to.

A single, icy blue eye landed on Boldstar as he called out to the clan from the twinwillows. Lilyriver twitched her ear but then gave it a dismissive flick, it wasn't like she got to go to gatherings very often anymore anyway, so it was hardly in her interest to listen to any meetings regarding them anymore. and there was no more announcements in regards to promotions anyway, so the white she-cat felt no need to dwell on the meeting unless she heard her own name.

Mintwhisker came into camp, a little chickadee dangling from his jaws. His step was a little weary- he had been out most of the late afternoon, but he was pleased to have caught at least one piece of prey, he was still rather disappointed in his lack of a proper catch. When he heard Boldstar's call, his ears perked and he moved to deposit the mouse on the freshkill pile. As he the joined his clanmates to see what his leader wanted, a quick glance up at the full moon showed that it was a Gathering night. His hazel eyes sparkled as he imagined the gaggle of apprentices going to their first Gathering, though surely, Riverclan wouldn't bring them all? They were such a large litter, after all.
Mistypaw emerged from the apprentice's den, having taken a short nap. She had been throwing herself at her training the best she could, but she still felt she wasn't developing the endurance she should be as fast as she felt she needed. It left her feeling frustrated and she hoped she might be able to go to the Gathering tonight to prove that she could keep up and that she had what it took to be a proper apprentice. Who knows, she might even get to see how her siblings were after three months separation. Had the other clans been willing to make them apprentices as well?
Hearing Boldstar's irritating call snapped Bloomfire awake from her light nap. She had been curled up in her nest, sleeping, or at least trying too. Instead of sleeping, her thoughts had been trained on the sounds of the outside as her ears eagerly listened. Sadly, nothing of interest had been said. She made her way over to Briarfang and Goosesong, giving the apprentices a brief glance, wondering if any of them would go. They were shaping up... well enough. She didn't pay much attention to them, but they hadn't been bothering her and that was good enough for now. She sat down beside Briarfang, her fur pressing ever so slightly against her sibling's as if to warm them up a little.

Ebonyflare followed not long after Lilyriver, the dark ruddy tom's gaze assessing each member of his clan. It was habit really, he had no need to focus on how each member was going, but it was hard to let go of old duties, even all these moons later. A chesty cough racked his body as he gazed up at Coldgaze and Boldstar, noticing just the slightest hint of tension. It was not his place to intervene, but he would still be there to watch and mediate if ever needed.

For once, Thornstrike was not returning to camp late with prey. Instead, they emerged from the warriors' den, tail flicking as Boldstar had interrupted their respite. It was a Gathering night, so of course that would happen, but still, it always annoyed them. Apprentices and mentors would likely go to Fourtrees that night, and as Thornstrike settled near her siblings, she wondered if he'd actually call of them to attend or just some.
Unlike Thornstrike, Nettlesky was both not annoyed and not bothering to leave the den entirely. Boldstar had plenty of cats to choose from. She would not expect her name among them.

Hailpaw rose her head with interest as she noticed her father's call- as loud as ever, fill the camp. She had been previously been working on the warrior code.. trying to remember each of the tenants. It was a poem- so it was easier to recall then a stack of rules.. but it was still a difficult one. Harder than she'd expected- considering how easily her clanmates seemed to have it memorized. Well, she supposed warrior life was going to be hard, but not exactly hard in the form of words.
Well, she also ought to get moving, rather than just standing here thinking!
So, she came up from the ground, where she had been making little shapes with her claws as she studied, and came into the crowd of cats that gathered. She settled down, looking up at her father with a light, prideful smile, and a curious demeanor.
