Robinpaw had been doing small checks among the cats in the makeshift camp. They had lost... so so many and Robinpaw couldn't do a single thing about it. It wasn't fair, she was supposed to be getting her full name soon and it wouldn't even be in her own camp... But it wasn't time to wallow in her own sadness. The clan still needed her.
It was then that she spotted Sunstrike at the edge of the faux camp and lowered her good ear. Oh StarClan... she would hate to see her mother so upset. She recalled some faint memory in the back of her mind from when she was a kit, that her mother liked a flower that she had brought her. Robinpaw nodded to herself, moving to pluck a non herbal flower growing from underneath a twoleg fence and then returning just as swiftly towards her mother.
"Sunstrike?" Robinpaw hummed gently, laying down beside her and placing the little yellow flower at her paws. "You're the last cat that needs to be checked today. How are you feeling?" She asked, nudging the flower with her paw. Sure, it would wilt, but the last time she had given a flower to her mother it ended well. So hopefully this time would be similar.

Sunstrike had her eyes closed, resting off her paws for the briefest of moments before she picked up another patrol - another hunting run - another anything to keep her mind off of everything that had happened. She'd never considered herself to be the type to feel anger, but here she was, boiling from the inside out while staring holes in the inside of her eyelids. At least she hadn't slipped into despair yet. At rage kept her going.
She took a deep breath, readying herself to get back to work and caught Robinpaw's scent before her daughter spoke up.
Sunstrike blinked her eyes open, squinting against the light before following the movement of Robinpaw's gift. Her furrowed brow softened ever so slightly and she pulled herself into a sitting position, gently pulling the flower closer to herself. "Thank you." Her voice was hoarse. From a lack of use, or overuse, when she knew she was alone in the back alleys of the twoleg place. "I'm-" She didn't even have an excuse or affirmation to give. Sunstrike flattened her ears as she stared down at the flower.
