Now that a week had passed, it was quickly found what would be consistent about Cheetah's Flight.. being sweltering hot.. and raining heavily. Neither of which was very enjoyable for any ThunderClan cat.
Today was actually the most acceptable of the seven, with a calm breeze to help soften the heated blow that the day plagued the clans with.
Salved by the breeze, and recalling his chat from a couple weeks prior.. Moosestar had finally decided it was time. He stood at the precipice of High Rock, overlooking the clan with a soft smile- which was a newfound rarity on the dark brown tom's summer moods. Perhaps today, something would spring anew?
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join me beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting."

Only Moosestar and Kestrelswipe have to, but all of ThunderClan is welcome.
Kestrelswipe will be appointed as ThunderClan's deputy.
ThunderClan Camp; High Rock
KESTRELSWIPE
Nervousness was bundled in Kestrelswipe's long limbs as he sat in front of the High Rock. So many fears were going through his head. How could he be sure Moosestar was making the right choice? How would the clan react? He was young to attain rank, and Thunderclan had been without a deputy for...much longer than any clan would probably prefer. But there was no time for nervousness now. He straightened his shoulders up as he waited, like he had seen his sire do so many times when he was a kit. Goldenstar had been a good leader, surely Kestrelswipe had inherited something like that?
WRENTALON
Dropping a couple of mice on the fresh-kill pile, Wrentalon looked up at Moosestar's call. This was odd. There were still a few days before the next gathering, and he hadn't heard anything about any of the apprentices finishing up their training yet. So...a problem? Frowning, he walked over to the High Rock, and noticed the small smile on the tom's face. His suspicion grew as he saw the way Kestrelswipe was waiting expectantly, pale tabby pelt neatly groomed and looking presentable. Wrentalon kept his own face and body language neutral, waiting for the meeting to begin.
Bloodlines of strength ignite fierce souls

Wildcry's single amber orb glittered with a set of conflicting emotions. On one paw their was immense pride; one of her own brood was ascending into Moosestar's good graces to become a Starclan ordained deputy to one day lead the clan. Kestralstar had a good sounding ring to it. On the other paw their was disappointment, a lingering itch that despite all of her good intensions, lessons, guidance, Kestralswipe was less family than Savagefox. There was no question to who he took after - Goldenstar was a prime example of that. Strength of a different flavor, strength that was tolerated and desireable to pass onto her offspring, but the flavor was without kick. Goldenstar was a bore of a cat and seeing Kestralswipe's shoulders square just as his did left the she-cat dour. Hopefully she didn't let it show as her lilac hued body crouched next to her son. He needed to look his best. "Your chest fur is sticking out." She remarked with casual sharpness that he no doubt expected from her, but at least she didn't try to cuff him for it.

Kestrelswipe glanced at his mother as she crouched beside him. His muscles tensed just slightly as he expected one of her usual cutting remarks. Some comment on his inexperience, perhaps, or maybe even accuse him of ineptitude. There weren't any cats she seemed to spare from her tongue as of late, at least none who she openly praised rather than insulted. His ear flicked in slight surprise as she merely commented on his fur. "Oh--thank you," he replied, smoothing down the wayward patch. Sure, there was some sting to her words, but he knew she could have done much worse.
Part of him wondered what she was actually thinking as she settled for the ceremony. Somewhere inside her there had to be some pride in one of her kits, right? He gave a small shake of his head. Now wasn't the time for dwelling on that. He turned his golden eyes up toward Moosestar.
Sunstrike:
The air was heavy. Or maybe that was just the promise of rain that always seemed to hang over the clans these days. Sunstrike padded back into the camp - trying to keep herself from drawing the ire of any of her relatives. For some reason, Wildcry was actually in the camp.... and so was Gingerthrash....and... so was Kestrelswipe. Alright - something was going on.
Despite the threat to her ears which as of today remained unswiped or un-chastised, she set down her collection of rodents that she had grabbed while on patrol, and padded over to Kestrelswipe.
Sunstrike deliberately tried to avoid eyecontact with Wildcry while addressing the brown tom. "What's going on Kes?" Her cousin looked... preened was a good word for it. "Did Moosestar call a gathering?" It was good she wasn't late if so!
"... Why does Gingerthrash look so.... happy?" She wasn't familiar with the expression on her grandfather's face.
Gingerthrash:
His kin! A deputy! Gingerthrash could almost burst with pride. He sat, practically beaming at the entrance of the elder's den. He would go congratulate Kestrelswipe with words of advice once he had been named. While it was obvious to him - having seem Shalefury have a slightly different ceremony for the time he was deputy - there was no doubt in his mind.
He flexed his claws into his moss bed as his niece padded away from her son. She should be proud! Raising such a token Fieceblood.. well. Token enough anyways.

Larchpaw had been, well, sleeping before she heard the all familiar call of her leader. She was typically a hardworking cat, eager to prove herself to the clan but the consistent heat was starting to take its toll on the cream tabby apprentice. With her eyes still half shut she dragged herself out of the apprentices den to see what was up. She honestly had no clue what the meeting could be about, but the excited and proud glances at Kestrelswipe gave her a good idea as to what was happening. She sat just outside the apprentice's den with a content smile on her face, just happy to see her clan in a good mood.

Tigerrush had been in her den, checking and double checking her stores and making notes on what to check for next herb outting when her ears perked at Moosestar's call. A clan meeting? What kind of meeting was it this time? Did that rogue return to the borders or maybe another fox encounter of note? His voice didn't sound too worried or upset so perhaps not. Getting to her paws, she padded out of her den and over to the High Rock to sit and wait for the clan's leader to reveal the reason behind the meeting.
Dovepaw had been out on the same hunting patrol as Wrentalon and had been following him back with a mouthful of prey- two mice and a sparrow- when Moosestar gave the call for a clan meeting. Green eyes glanced at the tabby tom she had been hunting with before glancing up at the High Rock. Giving a slight shrug, she went to drop her prey on the fresh-kill pile, procuring one of the mice for herself, before making her way over to sit behind Wildcry and Gingerthrash. That way, she was in the very front and she could enjoy a quick bite as the meeting progressed.

With the moon shining at his back, Moosestar was edged in it's looming white light. His own fur had been briskly groomed, smooth and straight against his spine. Despite the conflicting views of the clan, he looked upon them with a confidence that only a cat approved by StarClan could withhold.
"Cats of ThunderClan, listen, and I will announce your new Deputy."
The tom strided to the edge of high rock, then leaped down, standing before the cats at their own level. His head was high as he looked upon the cat in question; golden eyes warm and welcoming, yet fiercely expectant.
"I say these words before Starclan, so that the spirits of our ancestors may look upon and approve my choice.
The new deputy of ThunderClan will be Kestrelswipe!"
