Private Thread Plot Thread Current Caught

Spawn of flame, Thunder-struck, from the ashes I rise

The river had seized her the moment she and Briarfang disappeared beneath its surface, tumbling her downstream. She fought desperately to keep her head above the water as the current dragged her farther from the battle.

Every impact left another abrasion across her body as she slammed into stones and slid across the bottom. The moments that she managed to break the surface every breath came like a gasp. Then she struck the side of something flat and unyeilding and she felt pain shoot through her body.

Leopardrose screamed beneath the water, her back legs spasming uselessly as agony radiated from the limb. For one terrifying moment she thought the river would simply take her...but then her claws caught branches near the shore.

She hooked her claws into them with everything she had and pulled herslef up inch by inch until her chest slid onto the bank of Sunningrocks where she lay there for a moment. She couldn't tell what had happened to the others...but she made it.

Even though her injured leg shifted beneath her weight she managed to stand a get a glance at her surroundings before her pelt prickled at the sight of the RiverClanner on the opposite bank. It was one she had seen before. She glared at him without making it seem too obvious she was injured. The abrasions stung and there were patches of her pelt that look like they'd been rubbed off. Hopefully Briarfang had been swept away to suffer a worse fate, the likely fate shared by the Clanmates they couldn't save...

And the disturbed river water had a cause. Goosesong's eyes moved to Leopardrose, a cat who he had met before, it wasn't a meeting held in negativity, and he had nothing against her. He would have saved Leopardrose from the whipping water if she hadn't found her footing, but her leg didn't look well...

Goosesong gave the rosetted she-cat an apologetic look for a fleeting moment, he knew what his clanmates were doing and there was no excused or words that he could mutter that would make it any better. What he did say would probably make it worse for him than he impended. But he had already predicted some kind of punishment regardless.

At her glare, he planted his paws on the opposite side of the river. He had no intent on taking Sunningrocks from under her paws, nor did he have intention to step on that land, even if RiverClan did steal such a thing successfully. But then his gaze moved rather quickly to the river again.

Something was still coming.

Leopardrose’s eyes narrowed as Briarfang finally dragged themself onto the bank fox lengths from Goosesong. For a fleeting moment her aqua eyes drifted between the two RiverClanners, her furrowed expression showing her frustration.

She had no interest in testing her injured leg against either of them and she didn't have the strength left to involve herself in another fight. And once the immediate danger had passed the pain was eager to set in...

She didn't hear the tortie tom's mutter from that distance and as efficiantly as she could, Leopardrose turned from them. Moving carefully, she made her way towards ThunderClan camp, refusing to look back at the two toms. She wasn't sticking around longer than necessary when ThunderClan needed her.

Goosesong watched at Leopardrose walked off, not paying much attention to the obviously irritated Briarfang that was much closer to his space than the she-cat was. Briarfang was the closest thing that Coldstar had to a deputy beneath Cinderwisp. Part of Goosesong believed that they were only still a senior warrior because closeness would have been considered favoritism. But maybe Coldstar didn't want a yes-cat.

The silver tabby's aqua eyes shifted to the tortie tom after Leopardrose had limp out of his line of sight. "Are you going to go back?" He asked. Part of him didn't want to say anything to Briarfang, they would try and twist it against him to the high and mighty regardless of how he worded himself. But it might have been worse to say nothing.

Briarfang didn't look a roughed up as he imagined, and every scent of ThunderClan and partially their own had been forgotten in the river. It might have tossed Briarfang around just as much if it weren't for being RiverClan-born. But remembering his sister, it made all the difference that his clanmates were able to keep themselves afloat. But that wasn't his place to say, nor was it his position to teach, if that were the case anyway.

Goosesong didn't wait eagerly for an answer, but just sat at the river, ear twitching at distant sounds of battle, new voices, muffled as they were, he had certainly been replaced by then. "Coldstar would be pleased that you're fine at least."

Goosesong rose a brow at Briarfang's... honestly childish one sided bickering. The large silver tom gave his paws a few licked and didn't look at Briarfang, hopefully it would shut them up long enough for them to figure out what they wanted to do. Hopefully. "You don't have to stand here arguing with me." He added, curling his tail around his paws as his gaze moved to the rippling water.

"You either go back to camp or go back to the fight, either way I won't be following you." Goosesong answered as he stared down at his rippling reflection. "Let Coldstar give me whatever punishment he wants." He added as his gaze never left the water, he spoke with an almost eerie sort of calm, as if nothing really affected him, because the sputterings of a cranky warrior didn't affect him.

And in silence, Goosesong sat, until he would either hear a huff or growl from Briarfang, or a petty one sided argument that Goosesong wouldn't retaliate. Both seemed to be valid options, knowing Briarfang.
