Artificial Intellegence Policy

CoSC  believes it is possible to use AI responsibly and transparently.

A crucial step to understanding this view is to recognize that AI generated art is created through a training process that involves millions of art pieces (Example: Dali from Open AI used 400 million sets of images and text to create its algorithm).[1] In the Warriors Role Play Community theft of photographs is incredibly common and CoSC feels that an AI generated image using a fraction of someone’s work as inspiration is preferable to the outright theft of someone else’s entire work.

We respect intellectual property rights and believe this is consistent with our AI stance under the fact that each AI work is made under copyright’s fair use provisions for a transformative work because none of the source works are recognizable in the resultant image.[2]

As commissioning artwork from actual artists can be prohibitively expensive or unrealistically priced for many individuals. AI-generated art offers a more affordable and accessible alternative, allowing a wider audience to benefit from high-quality visual content in an increasingly financially demanding world. AI technology has the potential to streamline the creative process, and give players the freedom to imagine their characters in a casual, RP setting.

In an effort to protect the integrity of works produced by humans, CoSC has implemented the following rules:

  1. AI images attached to character sheets must be attributed to the AI model that generated it. Any user found to be presenting AI images as original artworks will be banned from this site.
  2. All AI images presented on the site are for personal use only. Any user found selling AI images will be banned from this site.
  3. Any AI model found to be using recognizable sections of artworks in images will be prohibited from use for failing to comply with the transformative work permitted by US copyright laws.
