Cloudflare ducked from the Elder's den. Since becoming deputy he felt that he had to keep tabs on the well fare of his clan, which includes the most vulnerable of them. He had just deposited a vole for Barleyswipe who had a particular craving for one.

On his way across camp he spotted a black classic and white coat that caught his eye, and his head swerved dramatically. Making a show to retrace his steps, backwards, to stare at the kit in the nursery entrance with a plastered grin on his face. "Is that Ashkit?" He mewed out loud as he padded towards the nursery.

Once he was a paw swipe away, he flopped himself on his side and reached out with both paws to try and grab the kit into an awkward cat embrace.

"I'm a big boy now! I don't need protection!"

"Cloudflare!" Ashkit cheered, purring and nuzzling his sire's chest. "Yes! It's me!" The little tomcat cheered. "I... Um... I'm sorry I've been so lazy and not inviting you to play." the tomkit began. "I feel super duper bad about it!"

The kit was pretty sure that Cloudflare was the coolest individual… Like… Ever! He wanted to be just like him when he grew up… Well… Not just like him. But somebody who helped WindClan in the best way that they could! And Cloudflare seemed super good at this stuff. Whatever Ashkit’s best skills were in the future hopefully he could use them to his full advantage too!

Cloudflare let the apology roll right over him, ears flicking in an easy dismissal as he tightened the embrace just enough to ruffle Ashkit’s fur. "Lazy?" He started, tone flatly incredulous. "I certainly don't think so."

He shifted, rolling onto his belly so he was eye level with the smaller cat. The grin softened, the bravado slipping just a little at the edges. "I like when you come find me. But you don’t have to earn my time."

His tail flicked once, sighing from his lopsided view. "I need a break anyway. Are you hungry?" He purred into the air, smiling at his kin.

"I'm a big boy now! I don't need protection!"

Ashkit's little body let out a sigh of relief at his sire's response, the tomcat nodding as a smile of his own blossomed on the young tom's face.

"Mhm. Very much so. But I don't mind what we eat." The kitten responded, well aware that he couldn't finish an entire rabbit on his own.

Cloudflare rose to his paws and gave Ashkit's ear a gentle tap with his tail tip as he tried to steer him toward the fresh kill pile. This was Ashkit's time and Cloudflare wore it like a more comfortable pelt.

At the pile he nosed through the prey before hooking out something small and narrow with a claw. The limp little lizard dangled from his paw as he held it up for Ashkit to inspect.

"Look at what I caught earlier at Snakerocks..." A boiterious purr left his mouth, placing it on the ground between them. "Lizard!"

He licked his lips in a show of enthusiasm before he meowed again. "You ever tried one before? I like how you don't have to get rid of any fluff or feathers - but it's tougher, not quite ideal for an Elder with missing teeth."
