Orchidflame was still feeling a dull ache after birthing her litter, it had been a grueling experience but it was one that she didn’t regret. After all, it was what gave life to her son, two tiny balls of fur tucked into her belly and suckling… or were they sleeping? Robinpaw had come in to check on her not long before and said that all three were healthy and doing well, and had given Orchidflame something for the pain, but the ease she felt in the moment made her not truly concentrate on what it was.
The calico queen looked down at the balls of fur, one mostly black with small white patches, she purred at his resemblance to Bravesong; she had previously given him the name Skunkkit. And Weaselkit, the second kit, was a ginger tom with dappled red spots with similar little red patches. She adored both, and she had known she would, regardless of what they came out looking like, these were her kits, Bravesong’s kits, and they were perfect.
"Morning little ones." She stated, purring deeply to make sure her kits could feel the vibrations from her belly and leaned down to clean up their kitten dander and hopefully keep them settled. "You both will be fine warriors of ThunderClan. That’s a promise."

Skunkkit squirmed against his mother’s warm body. Blind and deaf, his world was one full of scent and touch. At this point he was too young to formulate much thought, words were a completely foreign concept, but instinct was strong. As such, when he had awoken from a much needed sleep, the feeling of his belly clawing at itself, demanding food, had the tiny ball of black and white fur, squirming toward the scent of milk. As he moved, tiny legs clawing and pushing, he opened his mouth and let out a tiny, wordless squeak. His jaw didn’t even contain his milk teeth yet and was shockingly pink in contrast with his dark fur. Slowly, taking an eternity for the newborn tom, Skunkkit wriggled his way to his dam’s teat and latched on, enthusiastically bringing his tiny paws up to her flank to knead it, helping her milk flow. Thankfully his claws had yet to harden and wouldn’t yet prick her sides.
