Out with the old - In with the bold

Boldstar's ear twitched as the lightning flashed in the night sky, followed by thunder on a short delay. Rain was filtering weakly through the thick foliage of the Twinwillow, leaving him only slightly more than damp sitting where he was in the freshkill hollow. It was the biggest of the hollows and the hardest to keep fully waterproofed. Once the storm let up he would have to send warriors climbing to ensure the foliage was as thick as possible and the branches fully intertwined.
Another flash, and another crack. It wasn't as bad as the storm that much have raged at StarClan's calling in the story he'd told the kits a few days ago, but if the center blew over them they were in for a loud night. No one liked a thunderstorm. Except maybe those mousebrained ThunderClanners.
After a careful scan of the area Boldstar gave himself a firm shake and then used a paw to smooth the fur on the top of his head back down. He made careful point to take part in all the duties of a warrior, including sentry duty. It made his days busy, but the tasks only a leader could do were not so numerous that he couldn't also pull patrols and other duties. It was important to him to make sure he worked as hard, if not harder, than everyone else for the good of RiverClan.

SplashPelt looked out from the camp to see the rain pounding down on the now muddy ground, He closed his eyes thinking back to the stories he remembered and the one with him sneaking out with his litter-mate he should tell the kits that story and warn them about sneaking out.
He opened his eyes and looked at the rain and then he looked back up to see BoldStar standing there to him it looked like he was questing life, He stretched and got on to his paws and paced over to BoldStar.
"BoldStar it seems like the ground will be so muddy to walk around after the rainstorm."He looked at BoldStar and raised a paw as he spoke and he waited for a reply.

Boldstar watched as Splashpelt entered the Freshkill Hollow. One of the reasons he liked to perch on the roots over the hollow was the view, especially when he was on sentry duty. "There's no keeping all the rain outside in a thunderstorm, Splashpelt. Don't worry, I'll have cats up here once the weather has passed." He spoke loudly enough to be heard over the pound of the rain and the occasional clap of thunder. As for the mud... Well... "The mud will dry in a day or so. New-leaf brings many gifts, constant mud is one of them."

Spashpelt nodded to Boldstar and added "I'm going to check on the kits to make sure they don't sneak out." he raised his voice to talk over the rain and thunder, But he did wonder could some cat drown in the mud? maybe if it's deep so he needed to make sure no kit gets out during the thunderstorm, Oh starclan if something did happen to Mintkit or Nettlekit he would never forgive himself. But he walked out over to the tunnel and wiped his paws before walking in stepping into the nursery.

"Allright..." Boldstar's voice trailed off at the worried decision Splashpelt made. The kits mother, Duckfeather, would be supervising them at any given time. Unless she was out hunting, in which she would have left someone else in charge of them. Not only was the rabbit warren that made up camp warm and dry, it was secure. Even older kits like Mintkit and Nettlekit wouldn't be managing much sneaking anywhere unless whoever was in charge of them was asleep. And even then, the camp was safe.
