Wolfpaw nodded in response to his mentor, then his gaze snapped to the small bundle of blooms with a similar hue of his own eyes. He recalled the name, from little 'talks' with Muddypaw, which was mostly just Wolfpaw listen to Muddypaw speak about how it was to be a medicine apprentice. Which was interesting enough to listen to. He thought to himself to see if a name came to his mind when he saw the herb's appearance.

Wolfpaw gave the herbs a sniff, flicking his bushy tail in curiosity before nodding to her. He assumed she expected proof of his knowledge and thought for a moment, words tempting his teeth. The dark smoke tom gave a singular nod. "Marigold. Muddypaw said it looked like that." He murmured, hardly above whispering level as he tried to think of what the herb did, but his mind came up empty. His sister did tell him a lot of herbs are once...

Finally, Wolfpaw's eyes landed back curiously on Heronsong, wondering if he had gotten the herb right by communicated that to the best he could with the expression in his eyes. However... he had a feeling that all this could require a bit more than just one sentence eventually... hopefully he didn't need to chat a lot. Heronsong seemed to be fine with that at least.

Wolfpaw listened and nodded as he, in turn, took a sniff at the marigold, taking a moment to remember the smell in the case that he would need it, if he could smell it before he saw it in a dire matter, he would be able to get it to an injured warrior quicker. Hopefully. But hopefully something like that didn't happen anymore, with that rogue gone, he would be able to train safely. At least that is what he hoped.

Heronsong's words didn't go unheard by the tom, hardly anything did, as much as some cats may have thought they did, that he might not be paying attention, he was, he just spoke less, only when he had no other choice, or only when it mattered most. He hoped his clanmates were eventually able to understand that... He glanced up at his mentor with curious orange eyes.

His stare dragged, as if waiting for the silence to be filled, it was something he tended to do to his clanmates, he wanted to know more about them, he was the youngest of them and he wanted to know about them. Since they knew all about his sisters' and his own tale. Short as it was. He tilted his head to the pale she-cat, that same curious look as if he was trying to ask a question that didn't quite reach his lips.

Wolfpaw's eyes caught the borage as his mentor's had, the blue flowers were not as stark as the orange petals of the marigold, but the flowers were still noticeable enough to be eye-catching. But then Heronsong spoke of the leaves, the color of the flower didn't matter here, the leaves mattered more than the petals... so it seemed.

However a question still hung in his mouth, his words seemed struggle for an escape as he tried to figured out the wording of what he would say, still nodding to show his understanding at the bristly leaves meaning more than the flowers when it mattered. But then, like a crack of lightening in a quiet sky, he spoke. "What about bleeding? Can the poultices stop that?" h finally asked. If he was expected to heal an injured warrior, the blood would play just as big of a factor as the wound itself... he could imagine. Not like he hoped for the experience himself, but preparation seemed smart enough to pay attention to.

Wolfpaw shuffled closer to his mentor, but kept a safe distance, misplaced worry of crowding her lingered in his mind, however, he just wanted to make sure that she was safe, even if there was no threat to heed, he didn't know what was out there... lurking. If he was expected to know these herbs, he just hoped they did their job when he needed them... if he needed them. With enough hope, he didn't need anyone to get hurt at all. Though the young apprentice doubted that he would be devoid of battles in his lifetime, he just didn't need any now. Especially with the dire need of herbs likes these.
