The scent of the prey that he had given to the elders that morning still lingered faintly in the smoke tom's speckled nose as he forged on beside his pale grey mentor. He as always, didn't really speak unless to call upon Heronsong for something, nothing else. Whatever else needed would be spoken in the movement of silence. At least for now.
Wolfpaw glanced at his mentor, a question bubbled in his mind, wondering what she had decided to do out here with him today, if it would be hunting or something more battled oriented, whatever it might have been, Wolfpaw was sure he would be able to take it on in order to protect his clanmates, his sisters, his family. Seeing them thrive meant more to him than any personal goals he might be breaking.
A last quick glance at Heronsong came from the orange-eyed apprentice before glancing around at the forestplains. The grasses were rich and deep with the occasional tree casting shadows over the territory as they often did. The shade was probably cooler than the day anyway. But Wolfpaw didn't mind it, even if he did, he didn't intend on saying a word about it.

Heronsong padded alongside her rather new apprentice. Though they had already covered much of the basics in their weeks together, she still couldn't help but compare him to her last--where Duskpaw had been excited and energetic, Wolfpaw was rather quiet, and she felt she had to take guesses as to what he was thinking. In a way, it was a relief. She didn't have to worry so much about reining this one in.
"I'd like to go over something very important today," Heronsong started, rather abruptly. "When we're out in the forest like this, we're obviously a good run away from camp. In certain scenarios, it'll be important for you to know how to treat wounds."
She paused as they came upon a small patch of puffy orange flowers. "Recognize these at all?"

Wolfpaw nodded in response to his mentor, then his gaze snapped to the small bundle of blooms with a similar hue of his own eyes. He recalled the name, from little 'talks' with Muddypaw, which was mostly just Wolfpaw listen to Muddypaw speak about how it was to be a medicine apprentice. Which was interesting enough to listen to. He thought to himself to see if a name came to his mind when he saw the herb's appearance.
Wolfpaw gave the herbs a sniff, flicking his bushy tail in curiosity before nodding to her. He assumed she expected proof of his knowledge and thought for a moment, words tempting his teeth. The dark smoke tom gave a singular nod. "Marigold. Muddypaw said it looked like that." He murmured, hardly above whispering level as he tried to think of what the herb did, but his mind came up empty. His sister did tell him a lot of herbs are once...
Finally, Wolfpaw's eyes landed back curiously on Heronsong, wondering if he had gotten the herb right by communicated that to the best he could with the expression in his eyes. However... he had a feeling that all this could require a bit more than just one sentence eventually... hopefully he didn't need to chat a lot. Heronsong seemed to be fine with that at least.
