The Animal Omens are almost done, but we have a handful more that still need 2-3 words assigned to each that they represent as an omen. You can view the existing omens (and cannot duplicate ones we've already used) HERE.
What we're going to do is discuss them one at a time in this thread, and slowly build the list.
First animal up for an omen word list is Lemming. In game the Lemming's human species is Southern Bog Lemming. In accordance I suggest the word Bog be one of the 2-3 we select for lemming. Any other thoughts and suggestions?
Completed Items
- Lemming: Bog, Patrol
In addition to "Bog", I'd like to suggest "Patrol" based on the way they travel in little groups and live in colonies (camp was already claimed).
I'll give this 3 days or 24 hours no comments before I move it on to the next animal that needs words.
Finalizing Lemming with Bog and Patrol as it's words. Next up is Shrew. I'd like to propose "Angry" as one of the words.
I would suggest "sharp" for Shrew!
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan
Siofra- Domestic of Whiteheart
Finalizing shrew with Angry and Sharp. Great suggestion Rin!
Next animal up is Skunk. Smell is an obvious choice.
I'm going to also suggest stripe for skunk.
"Pungent" could be a great word to help enhance "smell"
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan
Siofra- Domestic of Whiteheart
How about using "pungent" instead of "smell", in case we want to save smell for something else?
PCs:
Hollyclaw, Warrior of ShadowClan
Dawnflurry, Deputy of ShadowClan
Mistyleaf, Warrior of ThunderClan
Thornstrike, Warrior of RiverClan
Shadesleek, Warrior of WindClan
Morgan, Royal Scion of Camelot
Duke, Rogue
NPCs:
Hawkfeather, Elder of ShadowClan
Nettlesky, Warrior of RiverClan
Ceridwen, Princess of Camelot

I think that's a very good idea.
I think we can finalize skunk as stripe and pungent.
Next up is Snow Sparrow. It's made up of the Snow Bunting and Black & White Warbler. Basically any small, sparrow-sized bird that's black and white instead of brown is a Snow Sparrow (When we were sorting birds they failed to fit anywhere else so got this classification).
My first suggestion is snow, which is painfully obvious but it's late and my creativity already checked in for the night.
I think snow is excellent. Another word that came to mind was "flurry" (a small swirling mass of something, especially snow or leaves, moved by sudden gusts of wind) as I can imagine a little bird's wings flapping quickly like snowflakes in the wind.
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan

I like flurry for these little flock dwellers! Based off that, I'd also propose Storm since we haven't used it yet and it would be useful for omens.
Ooh yes, love it!
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan
Siofra- Domestic of Whiteheart
Finalizing Snow Sparrow with Snow, Flurry, and Storm.
Next up is Sparrow. Sparrow has a HUGE list of small brown birds to pick from for inspiration.
- + American Tree Sparrow
- - Chipping Sparrow
- - Vesper Sparrow
- + Fox Sparrow
- - Song Sparrow
- - Lincoln's Sparrow
- - Swamp Sparrow
- Dark-eyed Junco
- House Sparrow
- - Tennessee Warbler
- - Ovenbird
- - Northern Waterthrush
- - Yellow-bellied Flycatcher
- - Alder Flycatcher
- - Least Flycatcher
- - Eastern Phoebe
- - Red-eyed Vireo
- - Savannah Sparrow
- - Le Conte's Sparrow
- - Yellow-rumped Warbler
I'm going to make Crowd as the first suggestion, since there are so many sparrows and tons of the species travel in flocks.
I like "crowd", but how about "quarrel"? It's another word for a flock of sparrows, but it also shows how aggressive some of them can be.
PCs:
Hollyclaw, Warrior of ShadowClan
Dawnflurry, Deputy of ShadowClan
Mistyleaf, Warrior of ThunderClan
Thornstrike, Warrior of RiverClan
Shadesleek, Warrior of WindClan
Morgan, Royal Scion of Camelot
Duke, Rogue

Nettlesky, Warrior of RiverClan
Ceridwen, Princess of Camelot

I love that!
Then lets finalize Sparrow as Crowd and Quarrel.
Next up is Squirrel. My first proposed word is climb. Because what else are squirrels famous for being the best at?
Since it's been quiet, I'm also going to propose tail since squirrel tails are so distinctive.
Perhaps "preparation" as well for Squirrels?
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan
Siofra- Domestic of Whiteheart
Preparation is a great squirrel suggestion!
I think we can finalize Squirrel as Climb, Tail, and Preparation.
This means the next up is Swallow. There's a whole lot of birds in this one, and it includes a lot of slightly larger than sparrow birds who are not solid brown. There's a lot of variety in this group, as it served as a catch-all for larger sparrow types and flycatchers that didn't fit elsewhere.

My first suggestion is going to to be wing, because so many of the species hunt on the wing.
A couple words that come to mind are "melody" (as song is already used) and "diverse" considering there are so many different varieties that fall into the Swallow category.
Willowfrost- Medicine Cat of RiverClan
Pinestep- Warrior of WindClan
Clovershine- Warrior of ShadowClan
Siofra- Domestic of Whiteheart
I think that we can confirm Swallow as Wing, Melody, and Diverse as those are all great words for describing them.
Next up is Tern. Species that comprise the cat-name are:
- Bonaparte's Gull
- Franklin's Gull
- Caspian Tern
- Common Tern
- Forster's Tern
The first word I think of when I think of these species is raucous. They make such terrible amounts of noise and tend to travel in small groups.
When I think of terns, I tend to think of an artic tern (although they aren't listed), who have the longest migration in the world, going from pole to pole each year. so maybe they indicate a long journey of sorts?
@kazul_3383 I like the idea of Journey as one of the words associated with this omen! What a great thought.
