Nettleplume, responsible for the discovery of the poison in the prey, is elevated to full medicine cat and Mintwhisker is granted their full name a moon later. With the approach of Leafbare the newest kits are apprenticed as Hailpaw, Merrypaw, Stormpaw, Sturgeonpaw and Mistypaw.
Conflict sits on the horizon, with loyalties lying in different leadership and tensions with ThunderClan brewing. Only time will tell whether this boils over into violence, or simmers as distain for another generation.
“When life places stones in your path, be the water. A persistent drop of water will wear away even the hardest stone.” ― Autumn Morning Star“
The RiverClan of the Erin Hunter world is a petty group, seemingly lazy compared to the rest of the Clans due to their very different hunting strategy. They are depicted with time to worry about small wastes of time such as decorating their dens with things they’ve found around the river. CoSC’s RiverClan is rather different.
While appreciative of the beauty found within their territory, the RiverClan of CoSC is full of cats who are dedicated to the warrior code and upholding it as best they can. In off seasons, they can be seen training to catch prey on land and perfecting their fighting techniques-while in peak fishing season, their lithe and agile bodies conquer the water with ease.
Priding in all that which is loyal, honest, and hard working, RiverClan is a picture of poise and grace.
Territory
RiverClan has a variety of terrains in its territory, but the most notable feature is the river that runs through the eastern side of the territory. The western part of the territory is open fields that provide access to a variety of prey.
Prey
While fish is the primary food of RiverClan for 3 seasons of the year (Leaf-bare renders the river un-fish-able and sends the fish into hibernation), leading to their perfected fishing tactics, stream-side rodents such as water-voles are also frequently hunted. While they are not experts at hunting them, rabbits can be found in Northfield, and squirrels frequent the River Copse. These staples are supplemented with mice and birds.
Character
Lifetimes of fishing has resulted in a Clan with an unusually high number of cats with well developed patience; although, in the same vein, they are commonly very stubborn. Amongst the other Clans, these traits have become well known simply due to passing patrols noting a cat fishing when they pass and seeing the same cat in the same place upon their return trek.
Appearance
RiverClan cats trend large for Clan Cats. Color is of little consequence to a RiverClanner, and in accordance they come in a multitude of shades and don’t think about things like how well camouflaged a pelt might make one.

Camp
Leader’s Chamber
Located near the medicine cat’s chamber is the leader’s personal chamber. It’s a simple chamber that provides a private place for the leader to rest or meet with other cats.
Deputy’s Chamber
A small chamber at the forefront of the Warren lies the chamber that belongs to the deputy of the Clan.
Medicine Cat’s Chamber
Back just beyond the deputy’s chamber lies what is called the medicine cat’s chamber. Despite its name, it is not just a single space, it is really a complex of chambers. The first of the three chambers is the one where most examinations happen, off which stem three hollows. The largest of these hollows is used as a sickroom, and the smallest is devoted to medicine cat’s personal sleeping quarters. The medium-sized chamber is devoted to the storage of herbs.
Nursery Chamber
A large chamber deep within the rabbit warren that is lined with the fur and features of prey for the warmth of the infant cats who’ll experience their first weeks of life almost exclusively in this warm, dark place.
Elders’ Hollow
A hollow hidden in a well protected area of the TwinWillow’s roots that provides a place for the Clan’s oldest members to stay warm and dry while they rest.
Warriors’ Hollow
Amongst the roots of the TwinWillow is a large open area in which the bulk of the Clan’s warriors sleep. It’s comfortable, and sheltered overhead by branches, leaves and grass.
Apprentices’ Hollow
Much like the warrior’s hollow, the apprentice’s hollow is just beyond it and constructed in much the same way amongst the roots of the tree.
Freshkill Hollow
A small hollow amongst the roots of the TwinWillow that provide a sheltered and protected place for the storage of Freshkill.
River
Upper West Bank

Geography: The west bank of the river on the southern side of the bridge but the north of RiverClan camp.
Description: A section of grassy riverbank that provides excellent fishing places. During Greenleaf, Twolegs come and sit and eat their own fresh-kill on the wooden platforms they keep there. |
Lower West Bank
Geography: The west bank of the river laying to the south of RiverClan camp.
Description: A section of riverbank with particularly tall grass. It’s an excellent place to hunt voles, but the wider river and deeper waters make it difficult to fish effectively. |
East Bank Point
Geography: The area bracketed by the sidestream and the River, north to sunningrocks.
Description: This open, grassy knoll is a fine place to fish, providing access to areas of the river where fish crossing it are forced close to the surface by shallowness, but are tempted to brave in efforts to get to deeper, stiller waters to the north. The area also provides access to birds and squirrels near the borders. |
Upper East Bank
Geography: The east bank of the river up to the ThunderClan border on the east side, running as far north as the Sunningrocks and south to the River Thicket.
Description: A section of grassy riverbank harboring excellent fishing. The grass is tall enough to conceal a cat well, and help keep them cool even in the hottest Green-leaf months. |
River Thicket

Description: This dense thicket of scrubby willows, oaks and elms overlooks a sharp bend in the river. It provides a fine place for both hunting and fishing. |
Lower East Bank
Geography: The east bank of the river from the River Thicket south to the border.

Eastern Thicket
Geography: Beyond the east bank of the river, spanning the area below ThunderClan’s southern border to the small thunderpath, down to RiverClan’s southern border.
Description: A sparsely treed area, with one dense thicket near the center. It’s a collection of poplar, elm, oak, and other leafy trees. The thicket provides a fine place to hunt, particularly if ThunderClan has been hunting the Southforest heavily, for prey will attempt to shelter there, beyond the other border. |
Fields
North Field
Geography: A large open area in RiverClan territory with Pastures to the west, the Gorge to the North, and Rockpath forming the additional border.
Description: The field covers a large area in the northwest area of WindClan territory. The Grass is typically somewhat short, as Twolegs bring their animals to the area frequently to feed. The grass grows in cattle-fertilized tussocks, providing places for mice and other rodents to shelter. |
Campsite Copse
Geography: Pressed tightly up against the campsite and surrounding a section of the Rockpath.

The turning of the season has been relatively peaceful. No other cats have fallen to green death and the clan is healthy and well fed in face of entering Leaf-Bare. Ashpaw, and his brother, Sootpaw, have received their warrior names – Ashcloud and Sootbounce. The three brothers, Dazzlekit, Redkit and the adopted Murkkit have received their apprentice names; Dazzlepaw, Redpaw, and Duskpaw, respectively.
“Life is but a walking shadow. -William Shakespeare”
The ShadowClan of the books is one that lives in darkness, seeks power and war. This dark and aggressive point of view is considered by Children of StarClan to be inaccurate and unlikely to have risen there due to thier isolation from battle with other Clans.
Territory
Shadowclan’s territory extends from drier, open moorland to soggy, marsh swept heathland. The edges of the land is punctuated by thickets of hardwood trees as well as a large, singular tree occupied by an owl. The eastern expanse of their land touches into swampy lands with rats commonly sighted.
Prey
While frogs, snakes and lizards abound in the swampland of ShadowClan, these creatures make up only about half of their diet. Southplains and Forest’s Edge play host to birds and squirrels, while the Heathlands are home to mice and other small rodents. The Ratfields are named for the prolific population of these large and aggressive rodents that roam from the Carrionplace. The Sidestream does not provide good fishing (it’s too shallow and brackish to support many fish), though small ones can occasionally be found.
Character
ShadowClan, partly due to their isolation from the other clans, and partly due to the difficult hunting conditions in mostly swamplands, has developed into a Clan of cats who are immensely focused on tasks at hand. They are an intense, hard-working bunch who thrive in these tougher conditions. While some cats are more easy-going, most are fiercely opinionated and serious in nature.
Appearance
Shadowclan cats typically have mid to long hair, providing them with excellent insulation against the cold, damp conditions of their swampy home. This fur also helps protect against thorns and brambles common in their territory. The coats of Shadowclan cats are usually darker shades, ranging from black and deep browns to dark grays and silvers. These colors, as well as common tabby or classic patterns, provide natural camouflage in the marshy reeds and waters of the territory. One of the most distinctive features of Shadowclan cats is their long legs. These help them wade through the often waterlogged terrain of their home, giving them a significant advantage in their swampy environment. Their paws are usually wide and sturdy, providing stability and preventing them from sinking too deeply into the soft ground.

“From the earth we rise, to the sky we aspire, and through the Skyborne, we find our path.” – Kosmo, Crowned Sparrow
In a world where earth meets sky, the Flock and its Sparrows are a community deeply intertwined with nature and the wisdom of their spiritual guides, the Skyborne. Guided by ancient traditions and a profound respect for the natural order, this group of dedicated cats and their avian companions navigate the delicate balance between the world below and the heavens above.
Territory
The Flock’s territory is a vast and vibrant expanse, south of the Riverclan border, teeming with life and rich in natural beauty, offering both challenge and sanctuary for its inhabitants. There land is punctuated by thickets consisting of maple, oak, and sycamore trees. These thickets offer shelter and resources, with their branches creating a canopy that filters sunlight and rain alike. Within one of these circle of trees lies the Training Lea, a soft, sandy training space for Chickadee and Fledgling to hone their skills. An Old Boathouse on the river’s edge, a relic from a time long past, provides shelter from storms and offers a place to hunt vermin. Not far from the boathouse lies the abandoned herb garden, where a diverse array of herbs grow wild and free, from fragrant lavender to healing comfrey. At the heart of the territory lies a river that cuts the land in half. The crossing can be treacherous – except at Caligula’s Crossing, a sacred area where large, ancient stones rise from the riverbed, forming a natural bridge, or so the story goes. Here, the Flock can cross safely, guided by the smooth, weathered surfaces of the stones. From the crossing lies the Flock’s camp nearby, providing the inhabitants with shelter, protection, and a home.
Prey
Mice and voles scurry through the underbrush of the thickets and squirrels are a common sight in the trees, as well as songbirds. Lizards are a common sight basking on hot days on the sand in the Lea. The river itself is a valuable source of food; fish is plentiful there, as well as amphibians, water vole, and waterfowl found among the reeds. The boathouse and the herb garden are home to mice, vole, moles, and shrews.
Character
With so many cats in contact with Skyborne, many members are deeply attuned to the close-knit spiritual aspect of the Flock. Keen observation skills are a common trait, whether it’s in spotting prey, identifying threats, or noticing subtle changes in the environment. A strong adherence to traditions and the teachings of the Crowned Sparrow is prevalent, as well as a strong protective instinct toward their kin and territory.
Appearance
Generally the appearance of cats in the Flock have no common distinction and can come in any shape or size, although currently, the Flock tend to show cats with long-limbed or semi-foreign, or semi-cobby features and tend to be larger than smaller.

With Cheetah’s Flight becomes new growth; Moosestar has finally chosen Kestrelswipe as his Deputy. Even with such a positive, ThunderClan has still been on high watch, specifically for rogues, which have been daring to get closer and closer to ThunderClan’s camp..
Moons before, there has also been a multitude of odd deaths, all of which seem to suggest a form of unknown illness.. Despite such odd occurrences, ThunderClan focuses on it’s rogue-laiden borders.. It’s only the future which can tell whether this will come back to bite them, or not..
Hail, brother, the distant thunder is nothing but hearts beating as one. – Patti Smith
ThunderClan of the books is a Clan devoted to peace and respect, with no fear of challenging the code to do as they please. They take in kittypets without regard for tradition and blood purity while claiming it is StarClan’s will.
CoSC’s ThunderClan is rather different. While they do tend to be cats who are not outwardly aggressive, they do so while upholding to the words of the code that they have been taught since they were very young. They are experts at both ambush hunting and fighting, knowing the code does not call for a face to face fight but instead that the borders be kept protected.
Territory
The majority of ThunderClan’s territory is covered in forests, though there are a few notable exceptions: First off is the open, stone filled clearing called snakerocks. Near to that, by the road is the East Clearing. By the tiny stream that branches off the Sidestream is the stream clearing. The single largest open space surrounds the Owltree, on the approach towards Fourtrees. Also notable is the clearing near sunningrocks, where ThunderClan Territory juts into RiverClan’s territory.
Prey
The forests run rich with mice, voles, squirrel and birds. Small fish run in the Sidestream, and most ThunderClan cats know the rudiments of fishing. The bits of open land in the territory play host to rabbits, and the occasional water vole can be found at Sunningrocks.
Character
ThunderClanners, unlike their book counterparts, are more quiet cats. They are a healthy mix of aggressive Fierceblooded, and diplomatic, defensive felines. While the leadership calls for a defensive strategy towards handling the outside clans, not all of ThunderClan agrees.. which has lead to a bit of political instability within ThunderClan.
Appearance
Being forest-dwellers, ThunderClanners are often known for their brown, black, or tortoiseshell colors which blend better in the scattered colors of their thick forests, though creams, tans, and whites are sometimes dotted through their ranks. ThunderClanners also trend to be around average to smaller in size, with muscular, lanky cats that are able to skitter through and hide in ThunderClan’s underbrush with ease.

ThunderClan Camp
Highrock
A large outcropping of stone in the center of the camp. Two small caves within the stone form leader’s and medicine cat’s dens. Over the top of the Leader’s Den is a smooth, flat area where the Leader traditionally stands to call together the Clan for a meeting.
Leader’s Den
A small cave in the Highrock, sheltered by the growth of vines and other vegetation. This provides a private place for the leader that stays relatively cool in greenleaf, and nicely warm in leaf-bare.
Medicine Cat’s Den
A small cave in the Highrock that lies opposite of the leader’s den. The entrance is more open than the leader’s den, with a few small bushes near the entrance that provide good cover for ailing cats who must stay near the den. Within are two different chambers that provide a place for the medicine cat (and it’s apprentice) to sleep in addition to storage space for Herbs.
Warrior’s Den
Formed with walls of sticks, brambles and other such vegetation, the den is not as secure as the leader’s and medicine cat’s den but still provides excellent protection for the cats that call it home. The entrance looks out on the fresh-kill pile and elder’s den, and the floor is of sand covered in soft moss.
Apprentice’s Den
Much like the warrior’s den, though on a smaller scale, the apprentice’s den is almost identical. The stick and bramble walls and ceiling provide cover and protection from the elements for creatures that sleep within on the sand and moss floor.
Nursery
Built away from the main wall of the camp, the walls of the nursery have been built to be more solid and much fuller than the primary outer wall and the walls of the warrior and apprentice dens. Here the sandy floor is covered in moss, but the nests in that moss are lined with warm fur and feathers from the kills made by apprentices and warriors. The queens of the Clan reside here along with their young kits.
Elder’s Den
A large fallen tree that’s gone hollow with age, the elder’s den is possessed of little construction by cats’ paws. Instead, nature has provided an almost perfect place for the oldest cats in the Clan to live. It’s thickly lined with mosses, fur and feathers so that it’s occupants will be less likely to take a chill.
Fresh-kill pile
A small pile of slain prey items that lay in a small depression in the largest open area of the camp. Because of its placement, a returning hunter must parade past the apprentices’, warriors’ and elders’ dens to deposit their kills.

The past few moons have been quiet and kind to WindClan. There have been no deaths and the nursery is full with Brightmaple and Beewhisker’s two litters- Oatkit, Heatherkit, Berrykit and Cedarkit who are currently growing and thriving. Meanwhile, Fallpaw was apprenticed to Aspenberry, Piperpaw gained the medicine cat name of Pipertuft, and Brightpaw was made a warrior as Brighteyes.
Swift as the wind. Quiet as the forest. Conquer like the fire. Steady as the mountain – Sun Tzu
The WindClan of the books is typified by little more than speed and nerves with their rabbit-exclusive hunting style making them vulnerable to the natural fluctuation in density of prey species. The WindClan of Children of StarClan has disguarded much of this very negative sterotype in favor of one more suited to the environment they live in.
Territory
Details on WindClan’s territory will be forthcoming soon.
Prey
Though WindClan is best known for their skills at catching rabbits, their territory also runs rich with other prey. Birds can be found at the Treeline, along with mice and the occasional squirrel. Moles can even be hunted if a cat slips over into the Garden and is quick enough to strike before they slide back underground. Mice and the odd adder might be found at Rockfield.
Character
Hunting rabbits on the moors has given rise to a group of cats used to quick hunts and in possession of even quicker tempers. WindClanners are proud cats with a sharp edge to their tongues.
Appearance
A discussion of the common physical traits of WindClan’s cats will be forthcoming soon.
