Perhaps one greatest motivator is an empty stomach. And for a certain she-cat, she was excited to sink her teeth into something. The quicker her and Moosestar could bring something back the quicker she could really tuck into a meal worth her while. The small mouse she had at dawn wasn't really much than a few bites. It was all part of her training - her own personal training, and so far it was working as intended.
Her eyes were sharp and hadn't spoken much since leaving camp. Too focused on her mission. Normally she could be drawn in by every distraction, but now it was personal. She was hungry. What else could motivate a cat more than that?
Brindlepaw paused, sniffing downwind as she exhaled a great breath - tested it, then let it flow out of her. She blinked towards a thick crop of large bushes. Perhaps there they could make a half decent stakeout! "We could wait in those herbs - that way we can get all stinky like a bunch of plants." Whatever they were she could smell them from here. Well, whatever... she wasn't some medicine cat, after all.

Moosestar padded beside Brindlepaw, his ears swiveling constantly while his tail flowed behind him like a directive oar, guiding him along his path from behind.
Soon, with camp now farther behind them and the Northforest now surrounding them, the tom slowed. He let Brindlepaw's nose naturally get to work, doing the same both by instinct, but also to know what she would be smelling; though of course with a much less refined nose.
As Brindlepaw spoke up, he rose a brow and addressed her by looking her way. He tilted his head slightly, and then nodded.
"That is good forward thinking, Brindlepaw. However, I suggest that be kept until later in your training."
He spoke with an even tone- not condescending, but truthful.
"I want your nose to be more refined to prey scent before you attempt to block it or overwhelm it with herb scent."
He said, glancing over to a bush of herbs which he presumed she referred to. He did notice even from here how fragrant it was. While it was a good cover to avoid detection from prey.. it was so strong that even he felt an aversion in hiding in such a thing. Even a refined nose would have issues disconnecting the herb scent from prey scent.
Remember, we're still at the basics, Brindlepaw.

Wouldn't hunting by bush be more interesting, though? Is what Brindlepaw wanted to say, but she settled for a soft, kitty pout, turning back towards the bush with a tilt of her head. It was smelly enough, but she couldn't risk not being able to detect her prey at all if she was planning on smelling too.
"Alright. No bush. Just basics. Basics like... following your nose, tracking until sight of prey. That sorta thing." A whisper of self assertion that was out loud, yet her voice trailed at the end, tearing her focus away from the herbs and leaning into her instincts. She crept forward, half her height as she bent down and used her smaller size to her advantage. Being smaller meant more agile, and in the dense woodland realm of Thunderclan, bigger wasn't always better.
Then she heard a scuttle. A tickling of leaves alerted the she-cat to the general position of something tasty - A big sniff crossed a smile to her maw. Mouse... or maybe vole? She listened to any chirps and her ears took in every sound. She took another step closer, the tip of her tail wiggling like a worm.

Moosestar continued to follow after young Brindlepaw. Unfortunately, the young she had ended up missing the small creature, but it was a good learning experience. Moosestar pointed out her leaping distance, keeping her paws steady, and her tail low- not too unlike their training session with hunting crouches.
With trial and error soon comes success!
