The weather today was better than most, with clouds to guard even further heat away from ThunderClan's forests. It was a perfect day for a possibly rather intensive training session. He'd have to force her to fight in more adverse conditions in the future, but today was certainly a good one to introduce this as a normality.
Trotting into the sandy hollow, Moosestar stopped in the center and faced her, ready to explain the intent of the session.
"Today, we will be working on your skills that you have been working on up to this point. You have done smaller spars before, but those are not a true representation of how you will fight.
This will be a true fight, and we will only stop when one of us capitulates, or is pinned and given a false killing bite. At the end, I will go over what you did well, and then what needs improved upon.
Understood?"

Moosestar spars with Brindlepaw in order to bring together all the various skills she's learned in her first 3 moons of training.

Brindlepaw followed, all the while making her own show of individuality as she half meandered to catalogue the scents around her. Today was a perfect day for training, and expected it, likewise all the more impatient when Moosestar finally got around to inviting her for some lessons. There was only so many chores she could take and swats from Gingerthrash she could avoid and the she-cat was raring to go.
"A true fight, huh? That sounds exciting." She mused rather lightly, keeping her tone from showing just how excited she really was. She took those moments to study Moosestar a bit more closely while inside the hollow, a shaded secluded area in which they could go toe to toe.
An ear flicked as she tested the ground under her paws, getting a feel for it before she prepared a readied stance with a measured exhale. She listened to the pace of her heart, felt the blood start to pump to fuel her movements. Her haunches were prepared to spring, to use her smaller stature to her advantage, but that's what Moosestar would expect of her... She needed to be ready for anything. And she was.
"Understood!"
She didn't give any addition warning as she struck forward with her paw, using the weight of her front half to catch herself in a testing feint - before her back end caught her, and her back legs kicked her to the side ready to meet his rebuttal.

Moosestar was rather amused by Brindlepaw's attempt to dampen her excitement. As much as she tried to look professional (which was often), he had a guess she was absolutely bubbling beneath that cool look she had. Stars, he could even recall his excitement before his first practice spar.
This was even more evident with how Brindlepaw began without even a warning. "There's that energy!" The tom called as he shifted on his own paws.
To not overwhelm Brindlepaw, he planned to limit himself.. but not enough to make it easy for her.
With her first feint blow, along with a leap to the side, he followed, slamming down towards her with a sheathed high strike aiming for her front right shoulder.

Brindlepaw was only fighting against the current leader of Thunderclan... No big deal! Brindlepaw huffed as she collected her breath, feeling her heart hammering in her chest but she knew she couldn't allow herself to focus on her heart beat or the mounting pressure building between her ears. Her first real spar.
Moosestar had moons of experience on her, yet she wouldn't give up yet. She wasn't so discouraged when he didn't fall for her feint, and her head snapped to keep the tom in her sight as he leaped to the side. It was only a moment before his forward momentum was bringing his paws down, seeking to dislodge her stance, but she would be a mousebrained fool before she'd go down so easily!
It would be risky, but Brindlepaw was fast. Swiftly her motion shifted, spinning herself in the opposite direction. She may be smaller than him, but she used that same momentum in her swing and her lower core strength to aim a lightning paw directly for his legs. It wasn't the first time she used an advanced technique to help in a would-be advantage. She just hoped the spinning strike was enough.
She couldn't let herself get winded, she couldn't let the excitement or doubt fog her mind.
