Maplesprig wasn't as young as he once was and he could feel it every day in spite of the greenleaf warmth that usually settled in his bones by now. Outside the camp walls the tom sprawled, blinking towards the last flickers of sunlight as it streamed through the treeline and dappled the ground in shades of twilight.
His thoughts drifted far away from his territory and into the headspace of a tom much younger and wondered how his RiverClan kit was doing. What kind of life was she living and would she ever have kits of her own? Heavy eyes drooped as sleep tugged at his fur, grey muzzle sinking into his paws to flitter into a shallow dreamlike state.
Deeper...and deeper he slipped, Lilyripple's face smiling across from the river... It was a good dream, and one that would eventually lead to the physical obstacles like territory and bodies obsolete to join with her in StarClan.

Finchpaw had been going out to make dirt when his ears picked something up. Something didn't feel right. Getting up, the tom padded towards camp, finding Maplesprig still. Unsettlingly still. Then, the tom realised. He was gone. Maplesprig had left the ranks of ThunderClan to join StarClan.
Going over, Finchpaw stood beside the tom's body, unsure of what to do before deciding that he would go back to camp and tell Moosestar.
Wordlessly, Finchpaw darted into camp, looking up at Moosestar with eyes that old him he had something to tell him.
