Closed Thread To Keep the Camp Safe

Dazzlekit had been 'napping' in a kitten pile with his siblings, taking up the top position and doing his best to squish his two brothers while getting comfortable. Since some of the clan had left for the gathering, Dazzlekit was getting increasingly bored, and it seemed as though Clovershine had gone to rest. While he was tempted to go cuddle with his mother, his eager instinct to play and move was drawing him away, and at the sound of Heronsong's voice and his ears pricked. 

Was that the sounds of warrior conversing? He must go investigate! He got up carefully as to not disturb his brothers before slinking around to the voice. Heronsong and Emberdust were guarding the camp, and looked like they could do with some help. The two sisters both looked bored and Dazzlekit new just how to lift their spirits. He carefully padded towards them from the behind, and while he wasn't exactly a master at stealth, he was still young meaning his steps were still soft and light, hardly disturbing the ground. As he crept forward, his eyes locked onto one of the sister's tails. He wasn't sure which one, but it didn't matter. His target had been acquired. He narrowed his copper eyes before taking a deep breath and pouncing, spreading his legs out and reaching for the tail. He landed squarely, and sunk his small teeth into the fluff of who he could now tell was Heronsong. He tustled around with the warriors tail before letting go with his mouth, though he still had his paws wrapped around. 'Need any help guarding camp?' he squeaked.

 Emberdust was just about to slip off with the imagination of mouse floating in her nose before she was prodded. When she blinked up, her maw was open and rounded slowly upon the image of her half sister. "I was only closing my eyes to hear the forest better!" She balked at Heronsong with only a hint of chagrin. A lie, for certain, and Emberdust wasn't the most tactful even when she wanted to. She hoped the other warrior woudln't take offence.

She almost nearly didn't sense a kit approaching them, and when her eye flicked behind her she pretended not to see Dazzlekit as he stalked the much longer tail of her sister. The edges of her maw curled, unable to help herself, and chuckled as the kit showed his teeth. Playful little guy, wasn't he? "Maybe! What do you think, Heronsong?" Her head swerved to blink at Sootpaw, whose voice carried from the other side of camp at the west entrance. "See anything?"

Dazzlekit let out a giggle as he had managed to catch Heronsong with surprise. He played around with her tail until she replied to which he instantly replied with, 'I've caught a snake before, don't worry, nothing will get into camp while I am here!' Dazzlekit exclaimed, letting go of Heronsong's tail and standing up straight, attempting to show the two warriors and Sootpaw just how big and strong he was.

'I snuck up onto you and you didn't notice!' Well, Emberdust had, but Dazzlekit of course did not know that and was going to enjoy the moment. Dazzlekit, unless promptly told to go back to the nursery had made the decision that he was going to stay with these warriors and he plonked himself down in between the two, staring at the camp entrance with focused, round copper eyes. 

It wasn't long before Dazzlekit got bored of doing such, and turned his head both ways to Heronsong and Emberdust. 'Do you just sit here? That's not very interesting..' he mumbled, but he didn't want to seem like he was complaining, for he was actually helping with warrior duties right now!

 That little guy had some spunk - and Emberdust appreciated that. It was a shame that he'd most likely be discouraged by the boring nature of keeping watch. It was more of a reactive activity than proactive, but leave it to Sootpaw to give the kit something to do other than attack their own tails.

"Moths?!" She exclaimed over her shoulder. "You better get on that, Dazzlekit. Who knows how many with show up and swarm us." They could be fluttering by and annoying for sure, but they weren't hurting anybody in particular. It was good pretend for the kit - and Emberdust couldn't help but snicker. "We will let you know if we see any snakes for you to take care of." Reckless as it was. Heronsong's tail made for a better adder impression in comparison to her stumpy extension.

Moths? Moths were attacking Sootpaw and Dazzlekit would help! He scurried over to the black and white apprentice, puffing his fur up to try and look a little 'scarier'. He could only just see the small brown insects flying around. This would be a troubling task for sure, but Dazzlekit knew he could do it. 

'I'll get them. Don't worry Sootpaw, these moths will never distract you again!' he squeaked before pouncing right into the air. Dazzlekit was normally one to be a little more calculated, maybe he was just tired, but instead of thinking where to jump, he just jumped, hoping a moth would fall within his paws. He did manage to catch one, but he also managed to catch Sootpaw.

Maybe catch isn't the right word. Dazzlekit went flying right into the apprentice, tumbling over him. He wasn't sure if he had brought down the apprentice with him or not, but Dazzlekit was for sure down, face squished into the dust. 

Well, that was embarrassing, but Dazzlekit was quick to brush it off. He didn't mind making mistakes and there was still a task at paw. 'Sorry Sootpaw!' he mumbled into the ground before getting up as quick as he could. Despite Dazzlekit being 3 moons, he was still a little clumsy. He had a little dust on his nose and cheek fur, but was too busy staring into the air to be bothered to do anything about it. 

Instead of just leaping aimlessly, this time Dazzlekit took the time to crouch down, doing his best stalk he could. Maybe he could impress the warriors! With his belly fur brushing the ground, he moved closer to the small eclipse of moths. He picked one and pounced, quickly grabbing it between his paws and tussling with it on the ground. A little unnecessary, but cute nonetheless. 'Rahhhhh, take that pesky insect!' he growled, the moth now laying dead in front of his paws.
