Someday, thought Dawnflurry as he rose to leave his den for patrol assignments, someone else will be doing this, and I'll be... somewhere...
Where would he be? The elders' den? Or would he just rejoin the warriors'?
One day at a time, he told himself as he reached the Talking Spot.
"Duskmantle will lead today's sunhigh patrol," he told the warriors. "I'll lead the dusk patrol, Ashcloud will lead the moonhigh patrol, and Specklenose will lead tomorrow's dawn patrol. Nightwhisper and Echobright will organize the hunting patrols. Remember, we're still not leaving camp alone. Bring another warrior with you if you're headed out."
