Private Thread Long Recovery

Sometimes herbs just didn't work. You could have the freshest herbs, picked from right next to a water source and a cat would still die. Sometimes knowledge just didn't work either. Sometimes not even StarClan themselves could save a cat. Luckily for Flutterdream she was nowhere near that extreme just yet, but as her eyes raked over her sister's kits body, she couldn't help but feel slightly irritated at herself. Most of the talon marks had healed fine, but a few still festered and the herbs weren't helping. She knew they would eventually, but sometimes infection was stubborn.

'Seems as though the owl was carrying some sort of disease, and passed it onto you after it nicked your shoulder. You've been doing the right thing, coming to see me even after all this time. It's nice to see warriors being responsible.' She made her way over to Brackenwing now, signaling with her tail to lie down in one of the nests before she began to part his fur at some of the wounds. She had inspected them when it first happened, and they hadn't seemed too deep, but perhaps she was wrong. No harm in double checking. 

It was safe to say though that Flutterdream hadn't assumed wrong, the cuts were still only mild. Not enough to cause any permanent damage, and not the reason for the infection, meaning it really was likely some sort of bacteria the bird was carrying. 'How clean have you been keeping it? Seeing as the others healed fine I assume you groom well, but I'll ask anyway.'

Flutterdream listened as the brown tabby spoke while she padded towards her herb store, pulling out a few leaves of Burdock. She didn't have too many options right now, but she had enough selection that she could go through multiple rounds of herbs if the cut didn't heal. Burdock was luckily something that still worked well dried. Chewing up leaves was never pleasant, but it didn't bother Flutterdream either. It was a taste you got used to after moons of practise. She carefully smeared the leaf paste over the deeper talon wounds on Brackenwing's pelt. 'Since this wound has been here for so long, I'm going to ask Dawnflurry to take you off duties for a couple of days, just incase for whatever reason it gets any worse. You can take one of the nests in here, I just replaced them yesterday, although don't think you are denbound' She added with a soft wink. Keeping him in here just meant she could watch him better, he could still do what he wanted during the day though.
