Quailfeather paused in silence and let Emberdust's words fill the clearing, it was now that he truly noticed how much mud had been transferred onto his chocolate pelt, it wasn't very visible on his fur, but every mud-coated strand seemed to weigh on his pelt. A part of him didn't mind it, but the other part of him remembered that some warriors would prefer not to have mud caking up near their nests. He'd best wash it off.

"Well soon enough, they'll be Swamppaw, Muddypaw and Wolfpaw, apprentices of ShadowClan. You'll be their mother still, but you've had your work cut out for you since you and Specklenose had them." Quailfeather paused, looking toward the nursery at a dosing Wolfkit, he seemed to have rolled to where the light shone onto his ragged pelt and he let out a chuckle. "Their mentors will have a fun time. That's for sure."

When Emberdust thanked him for the company, he wasn't sure what to say at first, she was the one that had kept him company after all. He let out a breath that was as close as one came to a chuckle of sorts. "Thank you, Emberdust, for letting me watch over things while you went out, and for the company you brought back." he returned the gesture with a soft smile before giving the queen a few brief licks on the shoulder. "I'll leave you and Swampkit be for tonight. Sleep well girls!" He chirped before bounding off into the distance, he'd have to get this mud off before going to sleep. And that was what he was going to do.
