Coldstar was having a day. Bloomfire was raking his nerves across the coals and he still hadn't managed a wink of sleep. At some point poppy seeds were going to become his main source of food. 

Traipsing his way to the river at least allowed him to clear his head - alone. But someone had beat him there.

He watched for a few moments, listening to Hailstrike's musings. All the prey in the world... perhaps. "They have more than enough. At least during New Leaf." He came up beside her, joining her in taking a long drink.

While she hadn't expected to be joined, Coldstar was far from the first cat she assumed would join her if the possibilty came up, but then again, there he stood, her leader, lapping up water the same way every other cat did. "Coldstar," she addressed him, nearly failing to conceal the surprise in her tone "nice to see yo-" Her thoughts drifted. He had heard her, but he didn't seem to disagree, quite the opposite actually.

"While the fish are still shy from the thaw, we don't get a lot of land prey" she noted, she did do a routine check of the fresh kill pile, many reasons, main one was to check for crow-food. Something she found surprisingly theorpudic as an apprentice. "The river is ours. And I bet ThunderClan might sip from the shores like they can't find any in their own territory" she didn't have any sort of temper, despite her ambition for almost anything she held it above a temper, unlike someone like Stormsquall.

Hailstrike rolled her tongue over her damp whiskers to lap up the last of the river water and glance over to Coldstar, why was he speaking to her specifically? Was there something she had that was valuable to a clan leader? Stars wouldn't that be the dream!

Hailstrike flicked one of her pale ears and thought on Coldstar's words for a moment. That chocolate tabby had always been a little unreadable to her, maybe that was the point, maybe he was trying to make a point of some sort... maybe. "Who's asking me to take Sunningrocks, hypothetically" She enquired, curling her tail over her paws.

Her face met his, eyes not exactly meeting his but there was something more than curiosity behind them, however suspicion wasn't there, just something that a simpler cat might miss. "There would be cats that'd disappointed in whatever choice is made. But knowing who'd be barking orders at me would help get me more details" she added, it was difficult to hide her excitement in her impatient tail twitch, many different things felt at once, but she was sure it would all come to light when the pieces fit together, maybe she just needed a few more pieces...

"Would I be leading a patrol there? Can't take over a piece of land by myself. I'm big but I'm not that big" Hailstrike chirped, half-jokingly but the spark of ambition in her tone was as unmistakable as always. once she had more details, she'd put this hypothetical plan into play.

Hailstrike thought, the quiet settling smoothly between them, with only the sound of the rippling river to break it. It felt like moons until the pale she-cat spoke again, her voice holding a new type of conviction, a new hunger, some ambition that might have been uncovering itself within her to spark a flame that hadn't started yet.

"An ultimatum." Hailstrike replied. "Find something that ThunderClan cares about, maybe find any flaws in its ranks, use it... them to the advantage of RiverClan." She added, her green eyes not leaving Coldstar's she meant her words and she didn't want to show weakness to her new leader, she wanted to prove that her warrior name hadn't been given in vain. "We'd use their weaknesses against them until they don't have much of a choice"

The plan was a little... cruel, a little out there, but to Hailstrike, it could work. Something deserving if ThunderClan had really stolen Sunningrocks from them, which she didn't doubt. If Coldstar had a plan, she assumed it would unravel when the time called for it, then, RiverClan would get what they deserve. "That it how I would take Sunningrocks." Now that she had heard herself, her ears she twitched. Great StarClan! Now she was sounding like Briarfang!
