Private Thread Razzle & Dazzle

Dazzlepaw bounded happily after his mother, tail stuck up behind him, still making him look a little like a kit. Kit like behaviour would take a while to leave Dazzlepaw, but he wasn't immature. He was sensible and respectful for the most part, he was sure of it. The pair were in a clearing today, which likely meant battle practise. Dazzlepaw's favourite. He never ever wanted to hurt anyone, but practising it was very fun.

A two in one lesson is what they would be doing today, starting off with some hunting. For Dazzlepaw, hunting came pretty easily. At least for the simple prey like mice. He hardly missed, especially because he tried to hard as seeing his mother's proud face was one of his favourite things. 

Falling into a hunting crouch was much easier for him now. It wasn't as swift or precise as a seasoned warrior, but compared to when he first started, in Dazzlepaw's eyes it felt much much easier. He parted his jaw to try pick up the mouse his mother had mentioned. For a moment he couldn't pick it up, and was about to complain to Clovershine until the musky smell finally hit. His eyes narrowed, and he stilled his body. His bright red pelt stood out insanely bad in the stark white snow, but there was nothing he could do about it. The mouse wouldn't notice anyway. Hopefully. Creeping forward, Dazzlepaw made sure each foot was placed down lightly, especially with the crunchy snow. His paws sunk into the soft white, but he made sure to walk extra slowly, so not a single sound would be made. He still never knew exactly how far he should go, and usually when he did miss, it was because he had creeped forward too far. This time at least he stopped before the mouse noticed him. A moment of silence and then he pounced, his teeth sinking into the nape of the mouse. It's warm blood seeped into Dazzlepaw's mouth and he felt the urge to eat it right then and there. He knew he couldn't though, and instead dropped it at his mother's feet. 

'Mmm it's just a mouse, it's not that great but whatever' Dazzlepaw mused, but he clearly wasn't that bothered. As a whole Dazzlepaw didn't really get insecure, nor compare himself to others. Dazzlepaw was Dazzlepaw, and if he caught a mouse that was good. It meant someone wouldn't go hungry. He didn't think any of this though, for he was too distracted by a stray snowflake as it slowly drifted from atop a tree. A red paw flashed and the snowflake was batted away, his paw slamming to the group, leaving a significant paw shaped dent.

Dazzlepaw never really knew what to do with praise, but if it was something Clovershine said, he was sure it must be true. He flashed her a tiny smile before pressing his paw next to where she had pressed hers, his mark just a tiny bit smaller. Now both of them had marked the spot!

He had practised moves countless times, but they had never really done a mock battle before. He tried to think of all that Clovershine had taught him, but his brain felt so empty. Maybe the cold was getting to him. His mother was waiting for him to strike first but he didn't not what to do. He had to do something though. After a moment he ran to the side, before sharply turning and aiming to strike her stomach (with sheathed claws of course!). Just as his paws were about to strike Clovershine's stomach, he changed the course of one of his paws, hoping to knock her weak leg and send her off balance. Dazzlepaw didn't really know what he was doing. Just aiming for the weak spots was what he chose.
