Private Thread Razzle & Dazzle

Even in the darkest shadows, there is always a glimmer of light. We just have to look for it.

The cream pointed she-cat's blue eyes lit up with pride as Dazzlepaw placed the mouse at her paws, his excitement radiating off him like sunlight reflecting on the snow, similarly to how his pelt looked... oh how he looked like his father. She thought her herself. But her thoughts were quickly snapped back to reality. She leaned down, giving his ear a soft lick. "What a good catch, Dazzlepaw" she purred, her voice warm and filled with love "Your crouch is looking much better, and you were patient with your pounce, that's not easy, especially in the snow. I can see how much you're improving"

Her gaze softened as she looked at him, her tail flicking lightly against his side as she moved past and shortly ahead of him burying the prey beneath the snow so other predators are less likely to find it, pressing her paw pad firmly against the snow to make sure it left a firm mark to remember where the prey would be. "You know, hunting isn't just about catching prey. It's about focus, control, and understanding your surroundings. You're getting there, and I'm impressed with how hard you try" she explained with a certain warmth that seemed to use quite often.

Straightening up Clovershine gestured towards a nearby clearing with her tail. "Now, let's work on some battle moves. I know how much you love practicing them, and I think you've earned the chance to show me how your skills have been developing on an actual opponent" she explained, spreading out her paws to a sturdy stance despite her lame paw that would normally unbalance her, it still does, but less if she concentrates on her balance. "Ready?"

Clovershine had prepared for her leg to be the center of attention, as it was a weaker point for her, but she had live so long being a warrior that she placed majority of her defenses to her hind legs as well as the typical weaker more vulnerable areas while also making sure she was sturdy in her stance. Clovershine narrowed her eyes and leapt towards Dazzlepaw, narrowly avoiding the swipe at her leg and making a swift swipe to his shoulder with sheathed claws.

"Remember Dazzlepaw, other warriors will want to protect their balance, and going for back legs leaves you vulnerable to kicks, so you'll need to be more careful and quick when attacking a warrior's back legs" She explained, flicking her tail as she twitched her whiskers in amusement. "However, legs are not the only thing that can be attacked to knock a cat off balance, with a hard enough hit to a cat's side, you can knock them off balance just as effectively" she explained before pushing the red tabby with her nose on his side to knock him over.

With a light chuckle she stood over Dazzlepaw "Regardless though you're doing well" she added, a fond look in her bright blue eyes as she pushed a paw on her apprentices chest, her pads pressing on the slightly paler fur. "You're doing rather well regardless, but make sure that your strikes don't hinder your balance, one mistake could be deadly" she added

Clovershine spotted Dazzlepaw's paws aiming at her tail and jumped upward, using her non-stiff back leg to propel herself high enough to avoid his paws, her landings weren't fantastic, but they were good enough to escape from an attack that was for sure. "Neat strategy, but try not to announce it before you do it. ShadowClan is supposed to be stealthy" she joked with a light hearted purr before her gaze softened to answer is previous words.

"We don't have to be big to be strong" Clovershine explained, the tip of her striped tail twitching ever so slightly as she mused at Dazzlepaw's desire to become a bigger more fierce warrior. "To be strong is to be smart, StarClan gives every cat something they can use to their advantage, it isn't obvious all the time, but we just have to find it" she explained with a gentle smile toward her son, giving him a smooth lick between the ears. "You'll find out what warrior you'll be, when the time comes" she explained, limping forward and sitting on the grassy earth, flicking her tail for Dazzlepaw to join her.

Clovershine stared lovingly at Dazzlepaw, he looks so much like... no. Her meetings with Cloudflare ended moons ago, she shouldn't still be thinking about that tom. And yet, here she was, perhaps it was because Dazzlepaw looked so much like him, she didn't really know what it was, but she didn't want to think about the negative anymore, in fact, she never really did, Clovershine would rather look at the positive side of the situation, like she always had. Perhaps that's where Dazzlepaw gets it.

"We can take a break here if you'd like, we've got all the time in the world at the moment, no need to rush through your apprenticeship too quickly Dazzlepaw" Clovershine added, looking down at him with a small smile before wrapping her tail around the mackerel tabby. Spending time like this with Dazzlepaw, this was good, she liked moments like this, where all you need to do it sit and breath. It was peaceful, and she wouldn't trade it for anything.

"Well you'll have to work hard to be both" Clovershine stated with an amused twitch of her whiskers as she gave Dazzlepaw several long licks over his head. "And also" the lynx point she-cat paused for a brief moment "I named you Dazzlekit because from the day you and Redpaw were born, you stood out the most, not just by your looks, but by your spirit, you have always been the way you are and your spirit shines like the sun" she explained with a subtle twitch of her tail around her son.

"Hm?" Blue eyes flicked to Dazzlepaw when he said her name, her ears perked up to listen to what he had to say, as he never seemed to personal most days when they went out training, but she wasn't opposed to a personal moment between them; how uncommon it was. "Well, you could say the whole clan was my 'Specklenose' the clan was there for me when I needed them and we work together to raise you, that is how it is most if not all of the time" she explained. "We are all raised by the clan we're loyal to, and one day you might even be helping in raising some kits" she purred with amusement at that, Dazzlepaw, raising kits! She supposed she would just see how that goes.

Nothing more seemed to come out of Clovershine's mouth after that, she just gazed forward at the sun, which slowly began to fall, yet was still fully visible in the sky. Clovershine thought back to Cloudflare and smiled, she wondered what the tom-cat was getting up to now, maybe he had moved on from her like she had, that's what she hoped anyway. But for now it was peaceful, spending time with Dazzlepaw that is, the peace of their break making her breath lighter, oh how she loved her kits.
