Private Thread Hunting Shadows

Even in the darkest shadows, there is always a glimmer of light. We just have to look for it.

Clovershine nodded at Dazzlepaw's question, she stood beside him for a moment, she knew that tree climbing was dangerous, especially in regards to typical hunting. "Good question, when hunting for prey, you'll need to be stealthy, especially with birds, they will be able to fly away from you without effort. If a bird sees you while you're in a tree that's some prey you have lost, and a missed leap is something that is incredibly costly, so if you choose to hunt in a tree, you must be incredibly careful." She explained in detail, she wanted to make sure Dazzlepaw understood the dangers of tree hunting, and sometimes, she even questioned how ThunderClan did it.

"I'm a little sloppy at climbing" Clovershine admitted, gesturing to her stiff leg with her eyes "clearly" she added with a purr, what she couldn't teach Dazzlepaw could be taught by the whole clan and even a group training session! Oh how she would love to spend time with Palestar again. "But think of it this way, what you don't learn from me, you can learn from other cats, we don't only learn from our mentors, we can learn from the whole clan." she added to Dazzlepaw "Though I'd have to talk with Palestar and Heronsong about a group training session" she added quietly to herself as she flicked an ear.

"So for now, until I'm certain you are experienced enough to do so, there won't be any tree hunting" She said, though it was something that was more commonly said as a stern command, Clovershine's voice made it seem like a suggestion, however there was still the determination and stern attitude to make sure that it was understood that she wasn't joking. "But if you're not quiet the birds will hear you" she whispered jokingly before taking a few pawsteps back.

Clovershine perked up her ears at Dazzlepaw's enthusiasm, however dulled down it had eventually become from the training she had been giving him, she still hoped her would keep his bright personality, the world needed more bright cats like him, especially like him. "You'll be able to tackle trees soon enough, you'll probably be better than me by your warrior ceremony" she chuckled.

White whiskers twitched in amusement as she watched Dazzlepaw tumble with the somewhat flattened bird in tow. The cream lynx point warrior couldn't hold back a giggle as she padded over to Dazzlepaw, looking down at the squashed bird. "Any prey is good prey, especially in leaf-bare, even if the snow is still melting" she purred, her amusement evident in her voice "No matter how much it may look like a crushed leaf" she joked as she gave her son a few licks on the cheek before her gaze moved onward.

Her blues eyes landed on blackbird that had decided to flutter to the ground to see if it was able to pick at some seeds beneath the snow. Clovershine perked up her ears and lowered her stance beside her apprentice while still focusing solely on the brown headed bird. "Remember Dazzlepaw, birds normally feed in groups, but these ones can be on their own when travelling, if you time it correctly you will be able to catch it" she whispered to him, flattening her ears against the back of her head to become more streamlined. She didn't intend on catching the prey but she hoped the way she positioned her body would give a hint to her son on what to do.

"Creep up slowly, and the keep low and steady so you don't slip. Lets see if you don't squish this one" she added again quietly, flicking her tail as a symbol for her to allow her son to go for the catch as she assessed his every movement.
