The cool of night felt like a calming relief from the blistering heat that has been washing over the clans recently. As if the moon and the StarClan themselves offered coolness to keep the warriors from overheating, especially the longer furred felines such as Beewhisker. But regardless of the heat, Beewhisker knew that it was all worth it when the next moons come along and bring coolness to the clan. and then Leaf-Bare would be a whole different issue.
But the thing that lodged in their mind like a pine needle, a question of most importance, it wasn't hidden that Beewhisker had wanted kits, and they had made the decision for Kestrelswipe to sire them, if he agreed to this of course. The last thing Beewhisker wanted is to ruin their friendship with a question so important. There's a risk to everything, They thought to themself as they bounded into the hollow of Fourtrees.
Beewhisker couldn't strictly remember when they had told Kestrelswipe to meet them at Fourtrees, but they had been coming along every night to ensure they didn't miss him, this was important to them, and they didn't want to opportunity to slip from their paws. The large, plump tortie glanced up at the stars, StarClan would surely be watching, if they disapproved, they would send some sort of signal right? With a heavy sigh, Beewhisker sat at the foot of the Great Rock, awaiting the scent of their close friend from ThunderClan.

The heat from the day had cooled off, and the stars shone brilliantly in the clear skies. Kestrelswipe's paws pricked with nervousness as he made his way to Fourtrees. He was flicking his ears around at every sound to try and catch the movements of anyone following him, but had found none the whole way. He and his Windclan friend hadn't planned a meeting before, only met by happenstance. This was an ante-up. He could only guess at what Beewhisker wanted to meet him alone for.
He kept his casual walking pace, cresting into the Fourtrees hollow to see the tortoiseshell warrior already there. His ring-striped tail went up in a greeting. "Hello!" he mewed as he trotted over, shoving his nervous feeling down deep into his stomach. He wanted to pretend it wasn't as odd as he felt it was to meet together in secret at night. "How's the night treating you?"

The sound of incoming paws made Beewhisker's ears perk up, there was a hint of anxiety that hung over their head however, what if it wasn't Kestrelswipe's paws? What if they had been caught by a ThunderClan warrior, or worse, Moosestar! Beewhisker did their best to keep the breath steady and uniform as they turned to the ThunderClan side of Fourtrees.
Relief washed over their pelt like rainwater when they saw a broken chocolate tabby pelt and rose to their paws, resisting the ever-growing urge to race over to Kestrelswipe and groom his pelt with a friendly affection. Instead, they stood and waited for Kestrelswipe to approach them instead. Beewhisker then noticed his ringed tabby tail rise in a familiar greeting, Beewhisker just seemed rather glad that he was as happy to see them as they were to see him, so they copied the gesture to show that.
"Kestrelswipe! I'm glad you came" They purred in return to his greeting, leaning their head down to greet the tom with affectionate licks. As if cleaning the and tidying up the tom's fur. "Oh tonight has gone well so far" They replied with a warm and caring smile as they sat once more, beckoning Kestrelswipe to do the same with a flick of their white tipped tail. "Better after seeing you though" The large feline purred, soon curling their tail around the pale paws. Their day was always lightened when they saw their closest friends... always. "What about you? How is your night so far?"

Kestrelswipe returned Beewhisker's affection with a headbutt to their shoulder, a small purr escaping his throat. He hadn't realized how stoic and disaffectionate every cat around him usually was, at least not in comparison to Beewhisker. It was a change that filled his chest with a warmth. He happily sat beside them, shifting his paws to settle in. "That's good to hear."
"My night's been well. I'm glad it's cooled off since earlier today." He glanced up at the sky, framed by the great leaves of the Fourtrees boughs. "The sky is beautiful tonight."

A loud purr erupted from the depths of Beewhisker's throat when the felt the pressure of Kestrelswipe's head on their shoulder. Beewhisker felt a connection with Kestrelswipe that they had felt with all their friends, despite how few of them there were. Even with few friends, Beewhisker treated them with as much love as they could give, because that is how they felt about their friends, feeling as close to them as family.
Beewhisker's pale blue eyes were fixed on Kestrelswipe as they sat together. Their ears perked in alertness to everything that Kestrelswipe said, despite the initial reason for this meet-up, Beewhisker was rather happy to chat for a while before even getting to asking any questions that would be as heavy as the one that nipped at their mind like a tick. They just wanted to enjoy the moment for what it was, two close friends enjoying the time with one another.
As Kestrelswipe's gaze moved to the sky, Beewhisker followed suit, there was no clouds in sight, making the stars and moon completely in view. Kestrelswipe couldn't be more right, the sky was as beautiful as StarClan themselves, and they couldn't agree more. "As beautiful as things can get" Beewhisker added, keeping their voice silent for the time being, but wrapping their tail around Kestrelswipe to keep the two with a comfortable warmth, it was undeniable that Kestrelswipe would have been colder given his shorter pelt, but the cool of night was oddly satisfying given the heat wave that has come over the clans recently. It was just nice to spend time with Kestrelswipe.
"You're a really good friend Kestrelswipe, you know that right?" They asked, or much rather, stated.

Kestrelswipe didn't know how exactly to respond to Beewhisker's question. It distracted him from the way their tail wrapped around him. "Oh, uh...I suppose so. As good of a friend that I can be, anyway." It felt stupid to say. He immediately wished the words back into his mouth.
"You're very kind too," he added hastily. "There aren't many in Thunderclan who would sit and chat like you and I can. Not with me, at least."

Beewhisker's heart broke to hear that cats in ThunderClan didn't treat their deputy with the kindness and compassion he deserved more than that, Beewhisker knew he did. But Beewhisker wasn't sure what they could do to change that, they couldn't make a whole clan change their views, they knew they didn't have that power, only a strong and diplomatic leader could do something as magnificent like that.
"I think you are a great friend" They meowed, turning to the tabby tom with a supportive smile, their fangs poking out lightly through their lip and their under eyes arching with their smile as the smile stuck onto their maw. A purr rose loud in their throat, despite being told such a thing before, Beewhisker couldn't help but feel over the moon at any sort of compliment to themself, especially their kindness, which they hadn't really focused much on, perhaps it just came naturally to them
The large tortoiseshell gave a few comforting licks behind Kestrelswipe's ears, nuzzling against his pelt so he could feel their warmth. "I simply do what comes naturally to me, I would do anything for my close friends, even if I push my own limits to do so" they added, feeling anticipation build up in their belly, causing them to instinctively knead at the ground, their claws working at the ground and softening it under their paws. "I suppose I just want them to feel safe and protected"

Kestrelswipe nodded. "Thats a noble sentiment to have," he replied. He was certain it was true, too, that Beewhisker would be so loyal to their friends. Distracted by a subtle change in movement, he glanced down at their paws.
Beewhisker was shifting as they kept so close to him, like he sometimes did when he was uncomfortable. Angling his ears toward the tortoiseshell, he gave them a curious look, concern edging the corners of his words. "Is something the matter?"

With a sigh, Beewhisker turned their pale blue gaze towards Kestrelswipe, they knew that he knew something was bothering them, there was no hiding the question now, so they might as well take the risk and ask the question rather than leave it to one's imagination and have the opportunity lost in the wind.
"Well, I've been thinking a lot about baring a litter for WindClan" They began, there was no turning back now, and besides, they wanted this, they wanted Kestrelswipe to sire their litter. With a deep breath, Beewhisker steadied their paws and fixed their posture, steadily looking into Kestrelswipe's eyes. Trying to keep their anxieties hidden for the moment, they would do no good with the question they were about to ask.
After a few moments of holding their breath, Beewhisker exhaled deeply, moving their tail to wrap around themself. "As I'm not particularly close with any WindClan toms, and you are someone I look up to and respect whole-heartedly.." They went on, swallowing an anxious lump in their throat which then made them feel heavy, as if a boulder landed in their belly. But they pushed forward
"I'd like you to sire my litter Kestrelswipe" They finally meowed "Only if you would agree to it of course, I know it's a big ask"

Kestrelswipe's mouth went dry. Him? Sire a litter? He'd imagined it before a few times - becoming close with someone, helping to tend to kits, watching tiny cats grow into strong, capable warriors. But...Beewhisker was in Windclan. Not only an entirely other clan, but the farthest possible one from his own camp. This wasn't going to be what he'd thought it would be.
He'd been quiet too long. He blinked a few times, nodding slowly. "I'm--I mean, I'm sorry there's no toms close enough in your clan. I--I'd be happy to do so for you." Now he was nervously kneading the ground with his paws as well. "If you're absolutely certain. I know it can be dangerous, sometimes. And...and I won't be able to be around to help at all."

Beewhisker let out a soft, gentle purr, showering Kestrelswipe in affectionate licks. It seemed that he needed some reassurance in the tone of voice he used, and Beewhisker would be more that happy to provide some reassurance the best they could. "It's nothing that I'm not used to, I know that you would be a fantastic father when you will be able to see your kits, I'll make sure they know what a great cat their father is" They meowed, imagining how terrible it would feel not being able to see your kin due to clan differences. So once they kits were old enough, they would be sure to supervise them and make regular visits to Fourtrees to visit Kestrelswipe.
"How about this, once the kits are old enough, I can take them on small trips to Fourtrees and we can have small visits every moon or so. I couldn't possible know how it would feel not being able to see your own kin" Beewhisker added, leaning down to nuzzle Kestrelswipe's cheek "And when they are apprentices you will be able to see them at gatherings... perhaps I could get a friend to tell you how they're doing when gatherings come around" The meowed, almost muttering to themself at certain ideas to make Kestrelswipe feel better. Though they were thinking too far ahead, they weren't even sure if they would successfully have kits.
With a flick of their ear to clear away their thoughts, Beewhisker's eyes softened and their smile widened. "Regardless, I want to thank you, you have no idea how much this means to me"

The beating in his chest calmed as Beewhisker spoke. They were right. This was a great thing for them, specifically. He knew the warrior loved kits, so even if he wouldn't be able to see his own progeny, why not help Beewhisker achieve their wish?
In the back of his mind, Larchpaw's question from their previous meeting came to him again. What if they did battle? Could he fight Beewhisker? Could he fight his own kits? No, that wouldn't be an issue. He would do everything in his power as deputy to keep any sort of fight from breaking out. It was a non-issue.
He kept his worries to himself. Beewhisker didn't need anything to dampen their spirit. "That all sounds great," he purred. "You'll be excellent with kits. And I look forward to seeing the warriors they become."
