Blackbranch was a mostly black tom with yellow-green eyes. His fur was mid-length and there was a small amount of white on his underside. He had some battle scars on his flank and ears, and he regarded them with fondness. He was muscular in the peak of his life, but when he died, he’d become thin from ailment.

Personality Blackbranch prefered physical work to mental. Hunting, fighting, training, and so on, it didn’t matter as long as it held his interest. He loved being active in general and easily felt impatient when he couldn’t be. He especially loved it if and/or when he was the best (or one of the very best) at a chosen activity. He was happy to let everyone know it too, partly because he desired good competition.

Blackbranch was born Blackkit in the Moon of Turning Leaves (2013), apprenticed as Blackpaw in the Moon of First Green (2014), and was named a warrior as Blackbranch in the Moon of Cheetah’s Flight (2014). A personal point of pride for him was being of a bloodline whose warriors had helped rid the Clans’ forest of a group of rogues past RiverClan’s territory. He also sired Rosepelt’s litter that included Nettlesky and Ebonyflare. Blackbranch’s life was cut short not by fangs and claws, but by incurable illness. He admitted he was disappointed in the end. He thought he’d at least die doing something interesting (if not heroic), not just laying there, strength sapped away, waiting to see if his next sleep would be his last and he would finally wake up dead. The sleep after he said that aloud was indeed his last, and when he unwoke dead in the Moon of First Fishing (2018), his spirit self laughed and sprinted happily away to join StarClan in Silverpelt.
