Long Description :

Lilacwing was a lilac ticked tabby tortoishell point she-cat with low white. This meant that the majority of her pelt was a creamy-white in colouration. Her face, ears, tail and lower legs, however, showed a pale ginger tabby set of markings with patches of lilac-gray fur that marked her as a tortoiseshell.

Lilacwing also had some minor white spotting that resulted in a small blaze on her nose and her paws being white. Her eyes were a pale yellow-green, reminiscent of new growth grass in spring.

Personality

Lilacwing was a gentle and friendly she-cat who always seemed to have plenty of love to share. Being peaceful, kind and understanding she often tried to act as a mediator during disputes among clan-mates and would gladly listen to the problems of others before offering what advice she could.

Despite this gentle nature, Lilacwing did not flinch for battle and would stand firm for her own beliefs and values, albeit she often tried to find a conversational approach to avoid battle or arguments. Somewhat stubborn and maybe a little dense, Lilacwing could occasionally be difficult to get along with despite her pleasant nature.

Full History :

Kithood [0-5 moons]

Lilackit was born to a Windclan queen, Sweetflower, during the moon of First White. She was a sweet and playful kit from the beginning. Willing to adventure but never forcing others to do so, nor going alone, Lilackit was often known for being well behaved. She listened to the stories of her elders attentively, obeyed orders from warriors dutifully, and played fairly and kindly with the other kits.

Even so, Lilackit was far from being perfect. When she didn’t wish to do something she would have quiet temper tantrums and stubbornly refuse to participate in the activity or move from wherever she had seated herself. These tantrums could last for hours, but since she rarely wailed or cried, she would often be let alone to sort herself out in time.

Apprenticeship [6-12 moons]

Lilacpaw was thrilled to receive her apprentice name and swiftly showed excitement and enthusiasm for learning. Out in the wide expanse of Windclan’s territory she could become distractable on occasion but would usually remain on task. It took Lilacpaw a little longer to grasp the various topics that came with warrior training, as she seemed to struggle with understanding concepts. When she did catch on, however, it usually stuck and she was able to practice diligently.

As her training progressed, however, it appeared that Lilacpaw began to grow somewhat lazy as she slept in regularly and even began to take naps in the day. This sleepiness was annoying to her companions who were trying to work with her, but as Lilacpaw seemed to always put all her effort into the task at paw, it was reasonably tolerated and her training remained on track.

Warriorhood [13-35 moons]

The day Lilacpaw received her warrior name of Lilacwing was a happy one for the she-cat. Thrilled and excited, she took on her warrior tasks with enthusiasm. The sleepiness that she had felt in her apprenticeship didn’t seem to leave, however. Things went normally enough for a warrior, although Lilacwing certainly seemed to enjoy her rest more than other warriors. She hunted, patrolled and fought with the diligence of any warrior.

As time passed, Lilacwing settled into her own rhythm. She slept more in the days during greenleaf but worked hard to make up for it during the nights, often volunteering for dawn and dusk patrols. In the cooler moons she worked hard to prove herself, but slowly it became clear that Lilacwing’s unusual exhaustion might be more than a sleepy cat. It became especially noticeable when, at times, the she-cat began to fall asleep during activities such as eating or even talking to her fellow clanmates. Concerns grew and discussions with the medicine cat implied that the she-cat may have to retire early.

Upon learning that an early retirement was quite a possibility in the near future, Lilacwing grew quiet and sad. During this time she began to grow close to one of the clan’s toms, Lichenstorm, and his care and understanding for her warmed her heart. It came as no surprise to any cat when she announced her pregnancy, although her sleepswoon, the sleepiness condition that afflicted her, meant that she moved into the Nursery earlier than most mothers. Discussions with the medicine cat and the clan leader during this time resulted in the decision that when Lilacwing’s kit or kits were apprenticed, she would officially retire to the elder’s den.

Final Queendom [36-42 moons]

When Lilacwing’s litter was born, she was dismayed to learn that she only had one kit. She named him Boldkit in hopes that he would take to his life with courage, especially as she wouldn’t be able to watch over him in the way that she wished. Determined to give her kit the best life possible, Lilacwing doted on her son and, admittedly, over encouraged him. Of course, having a rambunctious kit, and the fact that she wasn’t the only queen in the nursery, meant that her sleepswoon often caused Lilacwing moments of unintentional sleep. It was thankful that Lichenstorm would often pop by the nursery to take Boldkit off of her paws, keeping him out of trouble when possible.

Lilacwing was also incredibly thankful to the watchful eyes of Sunbear and although the queen was never tasked with the chore of looking out for Boldkit, she felt sure that the former Shadowclanner certainly did. This gave Lilacwing hope that her son would grow close with Sunbear’s litter and always have friends.

Elderhood [42-68 moons]

Once Boldkit obtained his apprentice name and mentor, Lilacwing’s retirement was announced and she dutifully moved into the elders’ den. There the she-cat lived peacefully, although she regretted no longer being able to care for her clan in the traditional way, she accepted her fate. She watched out for the kits and apprentices to the best of her abilities, advising them when they would listen, entertaining them or offering a neutral ear as needed. Her hope was that she would remain well thought and that she could continue to help her clan within her new role.

Slowly the moons passed and Lilacwing watched as her son grew from an apprentice into a warrior and she couldn’t be more proud. He had his flaws, and Lilacwing didn’t doubt that his self-centered attitude was likely her fault, but he was kind and well-meaning and she was sure he would do fine. For her part, Lilacwing found that her sleepswoon seemed to be affecting her more and more severely. It pained her to know that she would fall asleep during conversations and she was immensely grateful to the kindness of those around her.

From the security of the elders’ den, Lilacwing watched as clan life flowed. Troubles came and went as did the seasons, but nothing pained her more than when she began to realise that Boldclaw had inherited her sleepswoon. He was so young and full of life that she feared the tom would not cope with an early retirement well. By the time his retirement came, Lilacwing found herself weakening slowly, growing old faster than most appeared to. Even so, it was heartbreaking to watch her son be retired young and even more so as she had to watch the pain in his eyes over the decision. Lilacwing did what she could to placate her son and to help him feel more at peace with the choice, but the only thing that seemed to help was when she suggested one day that maybe for him it wouldn’t be forever.

Lilacwing is available to have had a litter or two prior to Boldclaw’s birth. If you wish to use her as a mother, please just let me know so that I can write it into her history but know that she does carry the genetic condition: Sleepswoon. This condition has a 20-40% chance to pass.

Due to Sleepswoon being classed as genetic, I have chosen Lilacwing to have had the condition in order to pass it on to Boldclaw. She never spoke about it to him however, and he was so absorbed in himself that he never realised that she had retired young.
