Description :

The average height of the caraway plant is two feet, but may vary slightly. They have ridged stems and fern-like feathery leaves, both of which are light green in color. Umbels of small, white flowers are also found on the plant. Each seed capsule holds two seeds when ripe.
Properties :

The seed is the only medicinal part of the plant, but has many uses. It can be used as a calming herb, by soothing the consumer. It also is helpful in the digestive system, helping sore throats and upset stomachs. It also stimulates appetites and increases milk flow to nursing mothers. It is also helpful in aiding spasmodic pains and bronchitis.

When to Collect : Mid Leaf-green thru Mid Leaf-fall
How to Collect : Bite off the umbels, and leave them in the sun to ripen. Once dry, shake and collect the falling seeds.
How to Preserve : Leave to dry in the sun.
How to Store : Keep in a dry, dark place in a loose pile.
