WindClan Patrol Assignments 1 {14MW21}

Other than her very first set of patrol assignments, the spotted WindClan deputy had never felt so nervous about assigning the day's patrols. She had already put off announcing her news yesterday after being irked out over the fact that an overload of attention would be drawn to her, but she knew she had to do it one day. Unlike some deputies, Aspenberry always made her announcements from the ground. She felt it unnecessary to tell others what to do  while looking down on them. Why not just do it while she was with them? 'All those old enough to catch their own prey, gather round for tomorrow's patrols.'

The tip of her tail twitched a little as she did her best to settle an anxieties, but anyone that knew her well enough would be able to see through it. 'Despite Leafbare coming to an end, we fail to see a disappearance in the colder weather, meaning I will be keeping up an overload in hunting patrols. Our border as been strong all season, so please, do not worry over it weakening for the senior warriors and I have been keeping an eye out for anything unwanted'

'Cloudflare, please take Smallclaw and Fallpaw for an early morning patrol. Starting right before dawn breaks. If you can, I would like you to check all four sides while letting Fallpaw take the lead for some of it. I think it would be a good idea for you to try out some more senior duties, to see what warriorhood is like, and for him to gain confidence. Cloudflare and Smallclaw will be there if you have any questions, and will also be there to guide you if you are unsure.' She didn't like handing over her duties to Cloudflare, but she trusted him the most with her apprentice while she would be out of action. 

'During the afternoon, Bayflower, could you please take Basilflame and Boulderdash out for dusk patrol, focusing on the gorge to check for thawing. While Cloudflare and the others are out patrolling Pinestep will take both Boldclaw and Doveflight for a morning hunt, and during the afternoon, Shadesleek will take Brighteyes and Bayflower.'

She hesitated for a spilt second, itching to throw herself on the dusk patrol, but her brain screamed at her that she shouldn't. 'At midday, Fawnstar and I will likely go out for a hunt, leaving Cloudflare and Bayflower in charge of camp.' She had spoken to Fawnstar earlier, hoping to catch a moment with her where they could discuss the future in private. She hoped nothing had come up, and that her leader would still be able to go for a hunt with her deputy. 

'I... also have a small announcement to make to everyone.' Her usually strong willed gaze looked a little deflated, like she wasn't sure if she wanted to continue. Would her clanmates look down on her for momentarily stepping down? Would they think she was abandoning her duties? Would they even care for her kin? 'After talking to Rowanglade, we have come to the conclusion that I am expecting Cloudflare's kits. I'm still likely a few weeks off giving birth, but for now I will not be participating in any more border patrols in hopes of keeping the kits safe. I hope this isn't an inconvenience to anyone, and I hope that my kits will bring good to this clan' She rushed her last words before hurrying off, pushing herself through the entrance to the warriors den so she wouldn't have to look at her clanmates curious gazes any longer.
