Closed Thread Flare Over the Horizon [16LG2020]

Aspenberry had been lying awake in her nest. Dawn patrol had left and the camp sounded silent. She didn't want to be the first one up, loitering around camp alone so she had simply been enjoying the comfort of her warm and resting clanmates around her. 

She heard a rustle and noticed Cloudflare getting up and leaving then den. Not wanting to follow straight after him, she waited a little before quietly padding out of the warriors den. She felt stiff from her sleep, so she stretched herself before padding over to the fresh-kill pile to join her clanmate. 

Picking out a small sparrow from the top, Aspenberry padded over to Cloudflare, giving him a quick nod before settling down near him to enjoy her meal.

Doveflight paid a glance to her clanmates, tilting her head a bit as she sat from a distance. She offered a flick of her tail as a greeting, glancing back to the elders den for a moment before letting her fur relax some.

Once the flecked she-cat finished her bite she looked up and replied. 'Morning!, and yeah, not too bad, although if I could have it my way I would still be asleep right now, but, once I'm awake I can't get back to sleep' she mewed with a little snort. She flicked her tail back in greeting at Doveflight, giving her a quick friendly glance. She had enjoyed her meal, but could sense that all they prey on the pile was from yesterday. Their kits, queens and elders deserved something fresh, and she felt like moving, so what better thing to do than hunt? 

She looked back at Cloudflare again, and seemed a little nervous to ask, but she did anyway. 'Hey, uh, not sure if you are busy this morning, but I was maybe thinking of going out to catch some fresh-kill. This stuff isn't stale but I feel like Brightmaple will appreciate something freshly caught and warm.' 

Dovewing’s ears turned to attention as she listened to what the tom told her, giving a small mischievous grin, “I’ll join, only if you don’t get hurt again! You nearly scared the pelt off of my last time.” She told him, playfully cuffing his ear gently with a laugh for her fluffy chest.

Aspenberry looked visibly happier. 'Great. I am in no way a morning cat but a hunt is always a good way to wake me up' she purred slightly. She wasn't one to usually initiate something like this, preferring to be more of a follower. She didn't usually start up conversations or approach her clanmates so easily, despite being her friends, but it seemed as though she was different today. Seemed like working up the courage to ask others to go for a hunt had good outcomes despite her sometimes awkward demeanor. 

She then turned to Dovewing, after hearing that she had accepted the invitation as well. 'Oh? What exactly did he do?' she mewed with a little laugh, though a hint of concern flickered over her eyes. 

Aspenberry got up to stretch again, picking up the scraps of her prey to discard somewhere away from the clearing. She stretched her front legs, scrunching up her face while doing so before giving herself a quick wake-up shake. 

The black flecked she-cat noticed Cloudflare slightly sashay towards her with a hint of confidence after Doveflight's remark. She couldn't help but smile a little knowing that, despite seeing a little upset at first, could play it off with confidence and humor. 'Dazzling display of profound athleticism? Yeah right' she snorted, giving him a flick on the ear with her tail. She turned to Doveflight, and leant over to whisper to her 'Tell me more later!' she said with a soft laugh. It seemed as though he had just twisted a paw or something last time he went hunting, and knew it was something her and Doveflight could laugh about later. 

She then turned her attention back to the concept of hunting and pinned her ears back in fake distraught. 'Noo! Anything but lizards please. I can't stand the taste' she said dramatically, although anyone could tell she was joking. Aspenberry wasn't one to complain about food supplies, especially when there was a lack of prey. She had been raised to always be grateful for what she has, and eating a lizard was definitely not the worst thing she could imagine. 'Alright, lead the the way'
