Bravesong let out a short laugh, deep and rich, at the mention of Wildcry. "Stars, no. One of her is enough for the whole forest." He murmured dryly, though the fondness for the old elder still touched his tone. The affectionate nudge against his cheek earned Greypebbles a gentle bump in return, more subtle than the younger tom's, but no less sincere. The warmth between them was both easy and familiar.
As Greypebbles stirred beside him, the black and white warrior let his eyes linger for a heartbeat longer, studying the thoughtful lines in the younger tom’s expression. He'd seen it bloom from kithood, through hardship and self doubt, into something steady.
Bravesong rose slowly, stretching out his forelegs with a stiff little groan as his bones popped. "If there’s warmth, then I won’t argue." His whiskers twitched with dry humor as he padded alongside Greypebbles toward the den. And with that, he flicked his tail once more, content in the peace they shared, squirrel and all.
