The nursery felt oddly empty without Wildcry's commanding presence, her sharp tongue and critical gaze absent for the moment as she stepped out to catch a rare moment of peace and a word to her sire, Stormfall, to watch her.
Nestled in the nursery’s cozy warmth, Rimekit was anything but still. A crumpled ball of moss had fallen from one of the nests, and she had claimed it as her own, pouncing on it with a fierce growl. Her mismatched eyes glimmered - one blue like the wintry sky and the other green like newleaf buds as she swatted the moss ball with her tiny, broad paws.
With each swipe, the ball rolled further away, and Rimekit darted after it. When the moss ball got stuck between two roots, she shoved her head into the gap, batting at it with single-minded ferocity. A frustrated squeak erupted from her as it refused to budge. She growled louder, the sound barely more than a squeal and tugged at the moss with her teeth until it finally popped free.

Stormfall lay on his side in the cozy nursery, watching Rimekit run around with her little toy. He hadn’t known exactly what to do with the kit when Wildcry had asked him to watch over her for a bit, but so far it had mostly been making sure she didn’t trip over his own paws.
He let out a mrrow of amusement as she tugged hard on the wadded moss, giving her best impression of a growl. He moved a large silver paw around to carefully help guide the ball back into her play space.
“Careful it’s not too heavy for you, little one.”

Rimekit’s ears flicked back at Stormfall’s words, though she didn’t pause her furious assault on the moss ball. With one final tug, she sent it rolling across the nursery, only to pounce on it again with a dramatic hop.
"Not heavy! I’m strong!" Her voice squeaked slightly at the end of her proclamation, but she didn’t seem to notice - or care.
With a fierce shake of her head, she gripped the ball in her tiny jaws and marched it back toward her corner of the nursery, her oversized paws making her steps wobbly. The moss dragged awkwardly along the ground. Finally reaching her spot, she flopped down with an exaggerated huff, placing the ball firmly between her front paws. She glanced up at Stormfall again, her eyes narrowing with mock suspicion.
"You think it heavy ‘cause you’re old." Her tone matter-of-fact but laced with a mischievous glint. She tilted her head, clearly testing the boundaries of how far she could push her father’s patience.

He had to stifled another laugh as her voice squeaked, his fluffy tail thumping gently against the nursery floor. He couldn't say she was wrong, though. He was finding more and more dull aches in his bones lately, especially with te colder weather.
"And it's good manners to respect your elders, little one," he stated, an edge of mock sternness entering his words. "Or else Moosestar might have you change out soiled bedding."

Rimekit gasped, her mismatched eyes widening in absolute horror as though Stormfall had just suggested the most unthinkable punishment in the world. She sprang to her paws, her fur puffing up until she looked twice her size.
"Change soil'd bedding?" She squeaked, her voice climbing in pitch with the drama of it all. "I’m not doing that!"
She glared at Stormfall, her tiny chest heaving with indignation, as though daring him to make her. "I’ll tell Moosesta' I’m too busy trainin' to fight foxes and savin' the Clan from danger!" She struck a clumsy, exaggerated battle pose, her tiny tail sticking straight up.
Her wide-eyed gaze flicked up to Stormfall, now sparkling with a hint of accusation. "You wouldn’ let Moosesta' do that to me, would ya?" Rimekit asked, big eyes wide and almost pleading as she took her moss ball bits over towards where Stormfall was and rubbed her body against a leg. Her act would be convincing if only her tail wasn't lashing like an adder.

Stormfall purred as Rimekit pressed herself against him, despite his suspicion. Even if the eyes were completely different colors from Wildcry's, he still caught the same sharp glint in them. "I suppose not..." he mused, tail tip flicking. "If you stay good."
He wondered how she might turn out as a full-grown warrior. If she would be anything like her half-brother...well, he'd prefer for her to keep her head a bit more. He bent his head to playfully nip at her tail, careful to keep his teeth from actually closing.

Rimekit perked up at Stormfall’s words, her mismatched eyes lighting with triumph. “'Course I'm good!” She declared, puffing out her white chest as if she were already the most well-behaved kit in all of ThunderClan. Her tail lashed behind her, betraying her self-satisfied smugness, but she didn’t seem to notice - or care.
The moment Stormfall’s teeth grazed her tail, Rimekit squealed dramatically and flopped to the ground, kicking her oversized paws in mock bravado "Ah - a fox! Tryin' to eat my tail!" The she-cat wailed, though her voice wavered with barely contained giggles as she turned to pounce on her sire.

Stormfall's chest rumbled as he chuckled, drawing his lips back in a mock snarl. "Grrr, that's right--little kits are foxes' favorite prey!" He carefully swiped a large paw down at the kit, his jaws wide open. She obviously needed to work out some energy.

Rimekit barely dodged Stormfall’s massive paw with a triumphant squeak, her oversized paws scrambling for traction on the nursery floor. She leaped back a few steps, crouching low, mismatched eyes blazing with excitement.
"Not this kit!” She squealed. Her clumsy battle stance faltered as curiosity sparked in her gaze, and she tilted her head, her ears twitching forward. "Have you ever fight foxes?"
She plopped herself down beside his forepaw, her tiny tail curling around her paws as she stared up at him, wide-eyed with anticipation. "Tell me a story ‘bout foxes! A real one!" Came her small demand, her voice brimming with eagerness. "Like how you beat one up?"
