The sun hung high in the sky, casting long shadows over the Shadowclan camp as the day wore on. The air was thick with the scent of earth and pine. In the midst of camp, Emberdust was busily at work, her paws stirring up dust as she wrestled with a stubborn clump of moss within the warrior's den.
She had been at it for a while, determined to freshen up the bedding despite the little rest she’d gotten from her earlier nap. Her bobbed tail swished back and forth, a sure sign of her enthusiasm, and every so often, she would pause to survey her progress with a satisfied nod. The mound of discarded, tangled moss beside her was steadily growing, but Emberdust didn’t seem to mind the task. If anything, it gave her an excuse to stay busy and avoid the slower-paced duties she dreaded.
She hummed quietly to herself, a tuneless melody that rose and fell with the rhythm of her work. Every so often, her gaze would dart toward the camp’s entrance, her ears twitching as if listening for something or someone. Perhaps she was hoping for a new task to pop up, something that would send her dashing off into the territory once more. All she needed was a little company or perhaps a spark of adventure to liven up the day.

Their body has been warmed up from the bright sky, as they enter back in camp through the entrance. Brackenwing was only outside for a spare time before morning started heating up. They would wonder how their own rock has been doing in its nest bedding - hoping to check on it in the warriors den. But first, these two lizards they've caught outside should be delivered to the fresh kill pile.
As they had completed doing that, Brackenwing would turn its head to glance at the warriors den. Looks like someone is in it. Wonder who could be? They kept this curiosity while they turned back to face the pile again - grooming its warmed up paw at that spot.

Emberdust, still in the midst of her self-assigned task of refreshing the warrior’s den, before she recognized the warm scent of the sun-kissed warrior and watched with mild curiosity as they added their catch to the fresh-kill pile.
Her ears twitched as she shifted to poke her head out of the den, pausing her work for the moment, a playful glimmer in her eyes as she saw an opportunity to engage. Without rising from her half-crouched position, she called out in a friendly tone. "Brackenwing! Look at you - bringing in a nice haul!"
She gestured with her paw toward the pile of moss she’d been working on. “Hope you don’t mind the mess in here.” She added with a sheepish grin. “I figured the old bedding could use a bit of sprucing up. Can’t have us warriors resting on stale moss, right?” And sure, maybe this was a task better suited for the apprentices, but they were nearly warriors now and Emberdust was determined!

Brackenwing had stopped its grooming session and swiftly turned its head again to the warrior's den. Seeing now that Emberdust is the one there, they expressed with an awkward smile - turning their body to face in the direction of where'd she be. And began to think of a response to her comment; getting their voice in enough volume to be heard.
"Ah..yes I brought enough prey for the day, thank you. Suppose I'd get it done before the sun starts warming up."
When hearing her mention about freshening up the beddings, this quickly made them remember their rock, hidden within their mossy bedding. It's a while they had gotten that rock from their last visit to the gathering - purposely secured it there because of its uniqueness. And so it's out of reach from anyone deciding to touch or even move it. They hurriedly get on their paws from where they're at, then take a quick walk to the warrior den.
"Oh yeah! don't mind that at all. It is nice you'd help freshen up the bedding's in there, Emberdust. Although Uhh, I'll need to check up on something. I'll be sure to let you continue on." As Brackenwing said with a hint of contentment - especially on Emberdust's efforts she is putting in the den.
Without stumbling down or getting off the direction, they arrive in front of the warrior's den. Stayed out there with its tail raised high and blinking calmly. Awaiting some permission to enter inside at the moment, observing the pale-cream warrior with its eyes.

Emberdust looked up as Brackenwing approached, noticing the slight urgency in their movements. She tilted her head curiously but didn’t think much of it, her usual easygoing demeanor shining through. “Oh, no worries, Brackenwing! You’re welcome to come in. I’m just about finished with this corner anyway.”
She stepped back a bit to give Brackenwing space, her paws lightly dusted with stray bits of moss and feathers. “If you’ve got something you need to check on, go ahead. I wouldn’t want to disturb anything important.” She added with a friendly nod, sensing that there might be something specific Brackenwing was looking for.
Emberdust glanced around the den, admiring her work for a moment before returning her gaze to Brackenwing. “I was thinking.” She started, her tone casual. “once I’m done here, I might head out to the marshes again. Maybe bring back some more moss for the nests - or go hunting! That'd be more fun than nest-keeping.” She flashed a playful grin.

Their fur brushes through Emberdust's fur when they are inside the warrior den. Did a thankful nod to her and then started walking forward to their own bedding. Somewhere in a far left corner near the den wall, is where that bedding will be found - taking a minute sniff of it as soon as they approached it. With that moment, they close in on the bedding and pull out the rounded rock with their own teeth. Carefully placing that rock of theirs on the side.
It left a lot of their bedding pieces spilled all over because of that rock that's been pulled out. So Brackenwing tries to put it together firstly and then grab it - using their mouth to carry it and place the pieces back onto their bedding. "Huh, going out in the marshes once again eh? Sounds like a promising ideal from what I'm hearing right here." As they said, while curling its tail to hide the rock. "I wish you some luck when going out around this sunny season, Emberdust." Turning its head from their spot to give an awkward grin back. Hopefully that didn't sound too much - as they would think to themselves...

Emberdust watched with mild curiosity as Brackenwing retrieved the rock from their bedding, a playful glint in her eyes as she noticed how carefully they handled it. She continued to smooth out the moss in her section of the den, pressing it down with her paws before glancing over at Brackenwing with a grin.
Her gaze lingered on the rock for a moment, intrigued by the careful way Brackenwing was tending to it. “That’s quite the treasure you’ve got there.” She remarked, her tone genuinely curious. “Where did you find it? Looks like it’s seen a lot of love.”
Emberdust’s expression softened as Brackenwing wished her luck. “Thanks, Brackenwing. I’ll make sure to bring back something good for the fresh-kill pile. "She gave Brackenwing a friendly tail wave before turning her attention back to her bedding, settling down into the now-softened nest. “But for now, I think I’ll just rest up a bit before heading out again. The sun’s warm, but the shade in here is just right.”

Well although they could try persuading something else than about the rock, Brackenwing took a second to think; decided to admit some information about this rock they’ve owned. “It’s...it may be a typical, smooth rock really. But, it looked quite nice to look at during the night. It’s shining and clear surface beams from the moonlight. Maybe sunlight could reflect a similar-uuhhhh. And uhh, I’ve gotten it from the last gathering I went to. Yeahh.” As they ended with an embarrassed expression. There was no intention of continuing to tell so much about it.
Facing their bedding again, it looked good now that it's patched up. Leaning forward on the left side, they pick up its rock and move that rock onto their bedding. Brackenwing gives a few stretches before laying on it as well. Laid in it comfortably while having the rock close to their chest. They ought to stretch their arm - observing it in case there'd be dirt in their paws, if not, then they're gonna pull its arm back. They nod understandably as it's head turn to where Emberdust is. "Hmm, good choice. We all need a bit of rest from tasks we do our best with."

Emberdust listened attentively as Brackenwing spoke about the rock, a soft smile playing on her lips. She could tell that the rock meant something special to Brackenwing, even if they were a bit embarrassed to admit it. "It's like a piece of the night sky you can keep close, reminding you of the gatherings and the stories shared under Silverpelt. I can see why you’d want to keep it safe."
She watched as Brackenwing settled down with the rock. Emberdust's grin was spread throughout her whiskers, and her eyes, half lidded, peered at her clanmate with contentment. "I agree." Giggling softly, nodding as she finished tidying up the rest of the bedding. "A good rest is just as good as a good hunt! Especially after frog hunting."
She moved closer, settling into her own bedding nearby with a yawn. Perhaps the day was starting to catch up with her. With that, she curled up, her gaze softening as she looked around the den. "If you ever want to talk about the gatherings or anything else, I’m always here. Gatherings are fun, aren't they?"
