Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night

Palestar padded into Fourtrees, the cool breeze of leaf-bare ruffling her pale fur. ShadowClan had arrived first again, something that always filled her with quiet pride despite taking the extra time to guide their elders along with them. She cast a glance over her shoulder, ensuring that her clan were following in neat order behind her.

The familiar clearing opened up before them, the four great oaks standing like sentinels under the silver light of the full moon. Palestar felt the usual swell of satisfaction in her chest as she led her Clan down the slope and toward the heart of the gathering spot. There was a certain dignity in being the first to arrive, a statement of strength without needing to utter a single word.

She slowed her pace as they reached the center, her sharp eyes scanning the surrounding trees for any sign of the other Clans. Nothing yet.

Turning to her Clanmates, Palestar gave a nod of approval. “ShadowClan leads the way once again." A subtle weight of pride purred through her throat. "Hold yourselves high. We are here to represent our strength and unity."

Rather than walking next to her leader tonight, Flutterdream took a position at the back of the group. Pebbleshine and Hickorystorm would be making their way to the gathering today, and she wanted to keep a distant eye on them. She trusted in both their abilities, but she wanted to be there just in case. Pebbleshine was thrilled on the other paw. For a while she had been too scared to attend a gathering, preferring to just hear things from her children, but she had finally gathered up a bit of courage and accepted the invitation, especially seeing as Hickorystorm was coming too. She wasn't exactly fond of him, but it was comforting knowing another retired elder would be there with her.

Aspenberry (F) an affectionate deputy
Rooknose (M) an awkward elder

Hickorystorm's ears hadn't stopped twitching and rotating as he listened carefully to the pawsteps of his clans mates and the sounds of the forest as ShadowClan made it's way to the Gathering. He hated to admit how on edge he felt being out of camp, but at least he wasn't alone. He tried to do as his leader instructed, but he wasn't sure he was managing to hold his head high. Lifting his head, his nose twitched as he caught a familiar scent on the breeze. "WindClan approaches."

(WindClan Attendees: Fawnbriar, Aspenberry, Rownglade, Pipertuft, Fallpaw, Brighteyes and Shadesleek)

Fawnbriar trotted towards Fourtrees, her head and tail held high. Unlike the last few Gatherings, she seemed to be much more at ease leading WindClan to the Gathering and, while she might not realized it, it would no doubt start to show. "Good evening, Palestar." She called in greeting as she approached ShadowClan's leader. "Is your clan first tonight?" Bright copper eyes scanned the crowd, curious to confirm her suspicions even as she asked. Two handi-capped elders tonight? Ahh, she thought she could remember hearing about the young tom elder. Well, good on them for making it.

Fallpaw trotted at his mentor's heels, ignoring the slight, tired ache in his legs. It was a combination of the long walk, his new training regiment, and the freezing cold air. In the moons he'd spent with Windclan, he'd gotten so used to the familiar scents that it felt more like his home than it had before. But leaving the territory, seeing the four tall trees towering above, was bringing something back.

He hadn't forgotten his siblings. Or that strange father of his who appeared and disappeared at random. It's been moons, he thought to himself. He's not coming back.

He glanced up at Aspenberry as they trod into the clearing, keeping a wary eye on the cats already gathered there. "Do you know who else is coming?"

Kestrelswipe, Thunderclan deputy
Wrentalon, Thunderclan warrior
Stormfall, Thunderclan warrior
Heronsong, Shadowclan warrior
Briarfang, Riverclan warrior
Fallkit, Windclan kit
Ghost, barn cat
