Murksong

Murksong usually stand a little taller than his clanmates, his body is naturally lithe and petite, unlike some of the stockier in his clan. Scars mark his body, one on the underside of his chin and another that coats the underside of his belly. All from prior battles before he decided to bare a kit for ShadowClan. He now doesn’t clearly remember where the scars came from, but he will always make up a fun tale for kits and apprentices alike who ask about them.

Murksong’s fur is long and diluted to a light bluish grey and cream in color, a solid darker stripe coats their back with prominent striped markings along his legs, face and tail that would clearly hint at a ticked torbie, the ginger mottles that Murksong bares could resemble sunlight gleaming upon murky blue water, hence the name that he was given at birth.

The ears that sit on Murksong’s head are curled from being the result of an affair from his mother with an American curl tom-cat, Murksong has never heard of his sire’s lineage, nor does he care much for it, he is just happy to be born a cat in ShadowClan. His eyes are a deep mossy green color, reflecting something that would resemble moss growing around a pond.

Murksong could be described as a cat that is rather steadfast and resolute, once he has a task in mind, he sticks to it while worrying rather little for the cost that comes from the almost instinctual need to finish a task that he had set his mind on. Whilst he has little to reveal this side of himself towards, it very much isn’t forgotten by himself and the cats who know him or those who are close with him.

Beneath the steely determined trans tom-cat, lies a kind and nurturing cat. Murksong, perhaps befitting his name, could be seen as rather gentle and sweet as birdsong. When it comes to cats smaller or more vulnerable than himself, he takes extra care to make sure they are comfortable and well cared for, this includes, but is not limited to, kits, apprentices, younger warriors or just any cat needing his advice on something, if that day were to ever come.

Being a very family oriented cat, Murksong has a deep love for kin and the cats he considers close family. Adopted kits and sibling-like relationships included. Murksong is a firm believer in ‘Not all family is biological’ as he believes that every member of the clan could be considered as family, even if they don’t share his blood. Which tends to make Murksong more accepting that some other cats might be.

Kithood (0-5 Moons):

Murkkit was born to who she believed were two of the noblest warriors of ShadowClan, but the joy of life only held for a few short moons. For Murkkit’s mother, Patchstem, was hit by a monster that had veered form the Thunderpath. Murkkit was now orphaned as she had never been told who her sire truly was. But she was quickly fostered by a kind queen. Until Murkkit was old enough to become an apprentice.

Apprenticeship (6-11 Moons):

Murkpaw began their apprenticeship with Petalstorm, a tortie point she-cat that reminded him of his mother. However, this reminder was never in a bitter or scornful light. Murkpaw adored his mentor, especially after telling her that he would be going to be referred to as masculine pronouns. He preferred it that way and he had never expected his clan to be against it in any way. They weren’t as he expected, but he was still grateful to that in spite of how common it was to be accepted. It felt nice to be honored in such a way.

Petalstorm was lenient, both showing Murkpaw when it was a time to relax and when it was time to take things seriously. He appreciated the training more as he got older, knowing that he wasn’t able to get to where he was today without this training and hoped that she would be honored when his warrior ceremony came to be. She deserved it.

Warriorhood (12 – 47 Moons):

Murkpaw’s name had changed one day, the day that he had been waiting for, for moons, ever since he was a kitten he dreamed of it, his warrior ceremony. From that day onward, he had become Murksong, for his integrity and loyalty. He approached warriorhood with enthusiasm and a great steadfast attitude, never giving up on anything he was faced with, no matter how serious or how light the task might have been.

This attitude followed him throughout his warriorhood, never leaving for a moment even when the idea of kits came to mind and a specific cat came to mind when he thought more about it in sacrifice and duty to ShadowClan. Haresprint, a cinnamon tom that had been his denmate for some time. He asked them to be the sire of his litter and they accepted, but not without questioning, as the two were close enough to worry very deeply about one another. And even with the questioning, Haresprint was reassured that Murksong would be fine, no matter what happened.

But it was on a fateful day, whilst Murksong was pregnant, that when another nursery queen, Tansymoth, died shortly after her daughter, Quietkit was born. Murksong was more than willing to take care of Quietkit for as long as she needed to be taken care of. And so, Murksong stepped in for little Quietkit and soon became all that she knew, he taught her things and viewed it as some sort of preparation for his litter in the future

Not two moons after the fact, Murksong gave birth to a sole kit, a little longhaired she-kit that she named Nightkit. Nightkit was never oblivious to the cat she knew as her sire, Haresprint never failed to be in Nightkit’s life and from Murksong saw, she looked up to them beyond what he had believed to be possible. Nightkit and Quietkit grew up together and in spite of their contrasting personalities, grew up rather close with one another. Only ever bumping heads over minor things that sorted themselves out. Murksong appreciated that fact until their warrior ceremonies.

Now with his kits and himself being warriors, he looks forward to seeing how far they go.

Retirement (48 Moons – Current):

On the first day or Sparrow’s Crowning, chaos and tragedy erupted. While on a walk with Haresprint, a rockslide followed, trapping both Haresprint and Murksong, however, Murksong’s leg was the only thing that was caught under the stone and he yowled in agony, and grief as no sound came from Haresprint, not even a stray movement from their tail. Murksong wailed until they were heard by a coming patrol who rescued Murksong, but struggled to recover Haresprint’s body. Due to the grave injury, he knew that he would be forced into retirement and his heart broke, for the loss of his friend and the loss of his status as a ShadowClan warrior.
