The sun warmed his pelt as Smokey followed behind the regal tom he was meant to live with, his tail flicking back and forth. The stone beneath his paws was cool to the touch. He rolled his eyes as Lelouch once again called him a servant. He mouthed along with the privilege speech he had already heard multiple times in the day since he had been brought to live here. He smiled happily though, he couldn't be angry. He had a home and new housefolk to play with, and even some other cats, even if they did seem a bit uptight.

As they came to the large ornate bay window Smokeys heart pounded with excitement. He looked at Lelouch and purred, "I'm so happy to be here! Its a wonderful home and the housefolk seem so nice and super fun to play with." He looked back through the window thoughtfully, "I do miss everyone though."

 The sun cast a golden hue over his lilac fur, highlighting the carefully groomed sheen that he took great pride in maintaining. He could sense Smokey’s excitement, the eager energy that radiated from the young cat like a spark, though Lelouch couldn’t help but notice the way Smokey mouthed along to his words.

“Oui, it is a privilege, one that should not be taken lightly.” Lelouch intoned, his voice carrying the weight of expectation. He allowed a brief pause, letting his words sink in before softening his tone just slightly. “Je comprends, you miss your old life. C’est naturel. But, mon petit serviteur, you have been given an opportunity here - an opportunity to become part of something greater. The Noon estate is more than just a home; it’s a sanctuary where you can find your place, where you can contribute to something truly special.”

With a graceful sweep of his tail, Lelouch resumed their tour, motioning for Smokey to follow as they circled around the base of the fountain outside, their paws hitting the whiet stone beneath their feet leading up to tthe fountain itself. “Viens, there is much more to see, and plenty for you to learn. Your happiness here will grow as you embrace your new role, as you take pride in being part of this distinguished household. C’est une vie qui vaut la peine d’être vécue, if you open your heart to it.”

As they continued their stroll, Lelouch’s posture remained impeccable, every movement a testament to the noble life he cherished and sought to instill in the young tom beside him. "Do you have any questions, Smokey?"

Letting out a mrow of amusement Smokey shook his head, "Isn't a life where you can run and play and be fed enough?" He pounced on a leaf to help accentuate him point.

"Cream always said to be loving towards housefolk and they would play with you all day," He called after the elegant tom as he rushed clumsily to catch up. He didn't understand a lot of what Lelouch said but he got the jist. This cat seemed to think the world of himself and his family and while Smokey didn't think the same way he did admire Lelouchs confidence.

When asked if he had any questions Smokey tilted his head thinking hard before his eyes went wide and he smiled, "What's your favorite game, Lelouch?"

Lelouch couldn’t help but chuckle softly at Smokey’s enthusiasm, watching as the young tom pounced on the leaf with an energy that seemed boundless.

“Ah, mon Smokey, there is indeed joy in running and playing, and being well-fed is certainly a pleasure...” Lelouch began, his tone a tad indignant as he waited for Smokey to catch up. “But there is also joy in living with purpose, in upholding tradition. C’est une question de fierté, of pride. You’ll come to understand in time.”

When Smokey posed his question, Lelouch paused, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “My favorite game, you ask?” He paused, his golden eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. “Bien sûr, I have a fondness for a game of wit and strategy. I enjoy watching the birds in the garden, counting them - noting their color. Ah, then I kill them if they come close."

With that, Lelouch gracefully lowered himself into a crouch, his tail flicking playfully. “Shall we see who is faster, Smokey? A little race, perhaps? You may find that even I, with all my talk of dignity, can enjoy a good game now and then.”

Smokeys bushy tail waved back and forth as he titled his head side to side. Living with purpose? Upholding tradition? But his purpose was to play wasn't it?

Smokeys eyes widened again as Lelouch talked about killing bird, "You... Kill them? Why would you kill them, their so pretty to watch. I get chasing the bird but killing them?" He couldn't wrap his head around the brutal idea. He felt sad for the birds, why kill them when you can play with them?

A race? The idea perked him up a bit. He could finally see the other cat have fun. He nodded emphatically. Jumped up next to Lelouch and crouched down, wiggling his haunches back and forth excitedly, "Lets see if you can keep up, you old fur ball!" His playful taunt was said with a gleam of mischief in his eyes. He would win. He was sure of that.

 Lelouch observed Smokey's reaction with a mix of amusement and mild surprise. The concept of killing was something Lelouch took for granted—a natural extension of the hunt, a demonstration of prowess - but to Smokey, it seemed almost alien.

“Ah, mon cher, I forget that not all share my... perspective.” Lelouch replied, his tone softening slightly. “The thrill of the hunt is not just about the chase, but about mastery over nature, showing respect for the circle of life..."

The playful taunt brought a twinkle to Lelouch’s eyes, light hearted chuckle edged with a sinister purr. “Old fur ball, am I? We shall see, petit. From the window to the opposite side of the yard, oui?"

With a flick of his tail, Lelouch tensed, preparing to sprint. He gave Smokey a nod, signaling the start of their race, and then sprang forward with a grace that belied his earlier haughty demeanor. The wind rushed past him, and for a moment, he allowed himself to forget the weight of tradition and pride, indulging in the pure, exhilarating joy of the chase.

Smokey raced after the long haired tom, stumbling a bit as he took off. He narrowed his eyes as he tried to keep up with his plump frame. Racing through the flowers as hard as he could, his breathing becoming slightly heavy as he tried to put on a burst of speed.

A butterfly flew across his view and immediately he forgot about the race and tried to pounce at it, reaching up with his claws sheathed. His blue eyes sparkling with amusement at the orange and black patterned wings. The race had all but been forgotten. "Lelouch, Look! Isn't it pretty??!!" The young cats voiced oozed with pleasure at the sight of the insect.

Lelouch skidded to a halt, turning just in time to see Smokey veer off course, captivated by a butterfly. His elegant form tensed with irritation, the race all but forgotten as he watched the younger cat's attention waver so easily.

“Smokey.” Lelouch sighed, exasperation clear in his tone. “We were in the middle of a race, were we not?” He flicked his tail sharply, his golden eyes narrowing as he approached the distracted tom. “You challenge me, and yet you let a mere butterfly steal your focus. What am I to do with you?”

He paused, watching as Smokey batted playfully at the butterfly, his annoyance softening slightly despite himself. “It’s pretty, oui.” The Marquee gave a conceeding grunt though his voice retained an edge. “But you must learn, mon ami, that there is a time for games and a time for focus. Not everything can be about chasing after every little distraction.”

Lelouch sat down with a huff, his tail flicking in mild irritation. After a moment, he allowed himself a small, reluctant smile. “Very well, enjoy your butterfly. But remember, next time we race, I expect you to give me a real challenge. No more distractions, understood?” An ear flicked towards the manor house as the chime of a bell rung through the air, its meaning clear. With a purr, Lelouch rose to his paws with a flurry of grace. “Ah, le dîner. It seems our human vassals are calling us for supper. Vite, Smokey. Dinner awaits."

Smokey flinched slightly at Lelouchs tone, "I know but..." His voiced trailed off. He hadn't expected the scolding. What was so wrong with having fun? 

He thought about the other toms words and he did have to agree slightly. It made sense that there MAY be times where playing wasn't OK, not that he could think of any.

His ears perked up at the idea of racing again, "Of course! I'll show you just what I'm made of!" His paws were already twitching at the idea of showing up the stingy cat a bit.

His stomach rumbled loudly as Lelouch mentioned dinner. The loud bell pleasing to the ears. "I wonder what it is? Oh I hope its something tasty!" He walked beside the older tom with a skip in his step, his pelt brushing slightly against Lelouchs as his tail twitched back and forth. Eyes widening he gasped "Ooooh, maybe it'll be cream or something super tasty!" He was pleased with how much they seemed to grow in understanding of each other in the short time they had been together today.
