As Cootonbright peered closer in the den she hardly realized, or perhaps her thoughts distracted her enough not to notice, how completely comfortable the tom looked in his sleep. Immediately she regretted trying to awaken him after such a busy day beforehand. It wasn't everyday one had their first tour around their territory- its vast distance was probably tiring on those little paws.

"Oh! Nothing is the matter or anything like that! I was just wondering if you...Well, if you wanted to do anything special this morning. If you're hungry we can pick a small morsel from the pile... and hopefully you can leave room for something you can try to hunt down yourself after we make sure to bring back something for the elders."

The white she-cat suggested with a small purr of pleasure. Whatever caught his fancy. Maybe some minnows by the bank of her favorite fishing spot. Oh, she hoped they were swimming well for her to teach a technique or two.

Cottonbright took a deep breath, trying to find strength and encouragement in the act as she blinked with a smile down at the groggy apprentice, only half bawking at herself for being a little oblivious...

"How are you, Mintpaw?"

Mintpaw looked absolutely frazzled, and well... Cottonbright was feeling a little bit inadequate. Maybe she woke up on the wrong side of her nest, maybe the pressure was getting to her, but she tried not to let her uncertainty show save for the tell tale slap of her furred tail against the back of her small paws.

"Mentors do make those sort of decisions, but at the same time, we must have those willing to learn from them!"

Yeah, that seemed totally legit and something a wise mentor would say. She spent a good moment thinking about their plans, and immediately perked up, her voice a note of fluff to hopefully comfort the young apprentice. She drew a little closer, as if offering her warmth.

"I have something very exciting planned. We'll begin with identifying prey scents and on the way we can practice memorizing the Warrior's Code. Do you know anything about the code, Mintpaw?"

Cottonbrights ears perked as his small voice broke through. And she would be more than willing to teach, but teaching required a certain stride that she still yet to find. She supposed it would be wise to begin with the Code itself, as it was the core of all their teachings. Essential like consuming prey or drinking water, it was paramount that every cat comprised the Code to heart.

"That's right, Mintpaw. We must all commit the Code to heart if we are to serve our clan. As a warrior, medicine cat, or leader." Her mew was like a musical note, aimed to guide the young cat in her care. Despite not close with the young tom, she wanted desperately to be seen as someone who could accomplish the task of training young cats. Maybe she was mentor material, maybe she wasn't, but only time would tell.

She shuffled a bit closer, wanting her large presense to bring comfort as she spoke. She didn't stutter or fumble her words, a clear offering that seemed ingrained into her very being. She might not have been the best hunter or best fighter, but she was practical and her fundamentals were spot on. "Noble warrior who hears StarClan’s Call, Will walk in the light one day over all.
