I would say that these characters likely warrant their own profiles, simply for the fact that they can be used as lineage characters - like the 'Parent Pool' - although more like a lineage pool. I know I want to make Coldgaze related distantly to cats in Riverclan.

I can sift through and find cats that are important from the remaining NPCs, the leaders, Deputies and MC are obviously important.

Characters:
Coldgaze: (M) Ruthless Riverclan Deputy
Lawn Gnome: (F) Motherly Semi-Feral Shecat
Redpaw: (M) Thoughtful Shadowclan Apprentice
Sootbounce: (M) Bubbly Shadowclan Warrior
Sturgeonpaw: (M) Altruistic Riverclan Apprentice
Sunstrike: (F) Anxious Thunderclan Queen

NPCs:
Quailcall: (F) Fierce Thunderclan Warrior

Fiercestar (storm):

Affiliation: Leader of Thunderclan
Sex: Male Cat
Gender: Tom
Status: Dead at the age of _____ moons
Age: 45 moons (3 years, and 6 months) @ the end of ChildrenoSC

Short Description: A level-headed large blue-gray tom with amber eyes

Long Description: Fiercestar was a stormy, blue-gray tom. He had large paws, long legs and a powerful, muscular frame. His claws were abnormally long and sharp. Fiercestar was every bit as intimidating as his father Bloodstar, making him one of the largest cats in the clan. His eyes were a bright amber-gold.

Personality:
Fiercestar had tried to present himself as a dignified and mature cat. He saw himself as a natural leader, which had caused him - in the past - to give orders to warriors older than himself as if he was the Leader. This trait occasionally rubbed others the wrong way. Yet attempting to take charge in any given situation had always come naturally to him. After all, he was Bloodstar’s only son.

  • Unlike his father, Fiercestar’s anger was a cold one. His calm nature prevented him from making rash decisions and he had the same contempt for weakness and cowardliness.

Overall he was less aggressive than his Fierce Blooded kin and preferred to use a more diplomatic approach before resorting to violence. This is because his adopted mother Cottonwhisker influenced him greatly as a kit, giving him a charismatic edge his father lacked. However, unlike his ‘mother’ Fiercestar never fully trusted his fellow clans. Despite having friendly acquaintances he was a stubborn cat at heart who rarely relinquished his opinion on matters.

Overall, Fiercestar was a busybody with a photographic memory and a general dislike of being idle. An honest and direct cat, he had no time for pretense. In arguments, honesty was the best policy and he hated being lied to above anything else. Because of this, he tried to be as straightforward as possible and kept his word through thick and thin.

Key Dates:
Born Stormkit on Moon of Marked Kit (2006)
Appreciated as Stormpaw in Moon of Long Sun (2006)
Named as Warrior as Fiercestorm in Moon of Long Nights (2006)
Deputized in Moon of the Killingcough (2007)
Became Leader as Fiercestar in Moon of First White (2008)

Full History:

Kit: 0- 6 moons:

Born as Stormkit in a litter of two, he always believed that he and his sister ‘Markedkit’ were stronger than any other cat. His biological mother Sorreltail had died during the birth and he was raised by Cottonwhisker. For a long time he never understood how she couldn’t be his actual mother.

His sister Markedkit was determined to be a part of a prophecy for the clans, and the leader at the time, Twilightstar, conceded that she would have to attend a Medicine Cat meeting during the half moon. Stormkit was worried about his sister, who he had always been protective of.

When Twilightstar was struck down by a Monster on the Thunderpath the same night, Stormkit was even more concerned. His sister was going somewhere he couldn’t follow - and was participating in things he couldn’t protect her from. As a result he decided he wanted to be the Medicine Cat Apprentice, in order to protect her.

Stormkit participated in the rescue of Markedkit after it was demanded that she attend a gathering, so the other clans could meet the prophesied kit. During the gathering his sister was kidnapped, his Sire lost one of his lives and the clans returned - dejected. Stormkit, alongside apprentices, found his sister and helped to rescue her with the help of a loner and the other clans’ apprentices.

Apprentice: 6-12 moons:

As an apprentice, Stormpaw was a hard worker. He was super protective of his sister - now Hopepaw - and guarded her closely. Since she was no longer in danger of being taken from, he had given up his Medicince Cat aspirations, and now idolized his father and the warrior lifestyle. Stormpaw would have liked nothing more than to become ThunderClan's youngest warrior...to become a famous ThunderClan warrior, in fact. The thought of being a leader like his great father Bloodstar appealed to him greatly. He was thoughtlessly confident back then and sure of his future and his place in the world, ambitious, and impatient for the nine lives he knew would one day be his.

On the first day of Leopard's Rest, Stormpaw became Fiercestorm, named for his infamous leader great-grandsire: Fiercestar. The newly-named Fiercestorm was honored beyond repair.

Warrior: 12- 18 moons

As a warrior, Fiercestorm’s ambition became serious. What was once a childhood dream was now reality - or at least, future reality. His sire had promised him an apprentice and was planning, alongside Cottonwhisker, to instate Fiercestorm as deputy when the time came. Fiercestorm struggled with the insecurities of a young cat underpressure despite his strong resolve and was forced to confront his own limitations and weaknesses. He was finally seeing how harsh and grim being a warrior - and leader - truly was.  And this reality tempered Fiercestorm

  • Beginning around Moon of Long Nights (2006) Fiercestorm began to spend more time with Flurrytail - a fellow warrior who would eventually become his future mate.

On the Fourth of Moon of First Green (2007), Fiercestorm received his first apprentice, Eaglepaw, as promised. His new apprentice's obvious strong dislike of him made him uncomfortable, but he tried to see it as just another hurdle he had to cross.

  • However, just after the ceremony his adopted sister Rosestorm confronted him about Flurrytail. The siblings got into a heated argument in which Rosestorm spilled her true thoughts about his friend. Fiercestorm was hurt, furious, insulted, and outraged. This argument put a wedge between the previously close siblings. Despite this  Fiercestorm had since made up with Rosestorm, prompted in part by her pregnancy. Although the two still differ on their views of Flurrytail, they agreed to set it aside for the post part.

On the sixteenth day of the Moon of the Killingcough (2007) Cottonwhisker stepped down from her deputy post in Fiercestorm's favor.

Deputy: 18 - 36 moons

Not long after his ceremony, Flurrytail shocked Fiercestorm by admitting to being in love with him--a sentiment that he found he returned. Unfortunately, the revelation only served to widen the rift between Fiercestorm and Rosestorm.

Fiercestorm weathered several moons of deputyship, juggling Clan duties with raising his eldest son, Tigerpaw, and his newest litter, consisting of Squallkit and Batkit. Although these moons were comparatively quiet, Fiercestorm's confidence in his leadership skills steadily increased. He had all but gotten over his former insecurities, and while he still greatly valued his father's advice, he felt ready to take over as ThunderClan leader when the time came--and came it did, early in the Moon of First White.

Leader: 36 - 45 moons

Fiercestorm's promotion was sudden and bloody, as Bloodstar's last lives were claimed in a brutal fight with the WindClan leader Dawnstar. As ThunderClan's new leader, Fiercestar struggled to balance his desire for vengeance with his desire to avoid a war that would cost ThunderClan lives.

I don't think the historic, Important characters have to look all that different from other NPCs; but i do think they should be catalouged seperatly - as in rather than having the NPC tag they have a different one.

i did rewrite his personality and decription to be past tense and did some formatting - if ppl don't want me to do that just let me know this was more on an experiment than anything.

Hopestorm:

Affiliation: Deputy of Thunderclan
Sex: Female Cat
Gender: She-cat
Age: 45 moons (3 years and 6 months) @ the end of ChildrenoSC

Short Description: An amber-eyed ruddy-fawn she-cat with a pale underside and tattered ear

Long Description: Hopestorm was a larger than average she-cat, with a ruddy-gold pelt akin to the gleam of the setting sun. Her fur was both sleek and dense, and her eyes were the same fierce amber gold as Bloodstar’s. The once unmistakable star-mark on her throat had faded into a patch of paler fur; ending the Prophecy of the Markedkit.

  • Her eyes shone with a savagery that marked her as a member of the Fierceblooded lineage; descended from the legendary Fiercestar (claw). Even more obvious was her right ear, which had been reduced to a mess of scar tissue from combat with Shadowclan.

Personality: With confidence and attitude to spare, Hopestorm led an eventful life since kithood. While she lacked her father’s photographic memory, she inherited his views on the warrior code. Highly intelligent, Hopestorm viewed cats from other clans as lesser beings and believed that the code only applied to those who lived under it.

  • This dogma was originally adopted as a way to shed the stigma that surrounded her after spending a moon living with Twolegs; but eventually she came to believe in, and live her father’s philosophy.

Key Dates:
Born Markedkit on Moon of Marked Kit (2006)
Taken by Two-legs, and called Goldy by them
Appreciated as Hopepaw in Moon of Long Sun (2006)
Named as Warrior as Hopestorm in Moon of Long Nights (2006)
Deputized in Moon of First White (2008)

Full History:

Kit: 0-6 moons

Markedkit was born in the deep cold of Bare-lead, accompanied by Stormkit. Their birth coincided with the meeting of Medicine cats and as such their dame was spared a glance before the healer set out. Sorreltail passed giving birth to the litter and when the Medicine Cat returned she proclaimed that Markedkit was from the prophecy.

  • Three days later, Twilightstar was struck down by a monster while crossing Thunderpath while traveling to Mothermouth. She had wanted to share dreams with Starclan to better understand the Medicine Cat’s claims. This meant that Markedkit’s sire Bloodpelt was made leader in her wake.

While Markedkit was named the prophesied kit, it was unknown that the Medicine cats had made up the prophecy in an attempt to stop the bloodshed of the Great War. While Bloodstar eventually discovered this treachery, he has already promised to bring his 4 moon daughter to the Gathering. Unbeknownst to the Medicine Cats, Starclan had already begun laying plans to claim the prophecy as their own and force a lasting peace between the Clans.

While the gathering itself had gone well - with Markedkit being protected by a special honor guard the entire night - disaster struck as the meeting was about to break. A small monster (ATV) burst through the clearing and in the end Bloodstar lost a life and Markedkit was stolen by a pair of twolegs.

  • Through the work of Stormkit and _____, Markedkit was eventually discovered, and rescued with an effort of all four clans - fulfilling the prophecy of Starclan. The Great War was over.

Apprentice: 6 - 12 moons

Following her return, Markedkit received the name Hopepaw and was apprenticed to her adopted mother Cloudwhisker. As an apprentice, she trained long and hard and grew in her skill and understanding of the world. Her combat skills developed quickly, although her hunting was affected by her lack of patience. The doting of her dame had created a cat who was unable to sit still long enough to catch a mouse.

  • As she patrolled the borders of Thunderclan, Hopepaw came to know a loner named Fox. He believed that he was in love with the Clan’s Deputy at the time Roseclaw; Hopepaw saw loners as little more than trash. Although he did eventually help a patrol (that had been doing perfectly fine without him) fend off a pair of Rogues who had once been Thunderclanners, her opinion of him never did change. Trash was trash - end of story.

A moon before she acquired her Warriorship, Roseclaw was slain while on patrol, by a strange beast that stalked the forest.

Warrior: 12 - 36 moons

Pride did not adequately explain the joy Hopestorm felt when she received her name. Her ceremony took place alongside Stormpaw - who became Fiercestorm and Kestrelpaw - who became Rosestorm.

Her first challenge as a full-fledged warrior came during the Moon of the Killingcough (2007), when she was selected to ambush Shadowclan as vengeance for their continued trespassing on Thunderclan territory. The plan turned into an absolute disaster. Clovertail had refused to fight, Slateshadow ended up dead and her own ear was injured to the point of no return.

  • While this defeat and injury bothered her at first.  Hopestorm eventually came to see them as a mark of revenge - symbolic of the violence she would take against the cats of Shadowclan, and the traitor that was responsible for the death of Slateshadow.

Hopestorm was given Speckledpaw and Batpaw to train, and was proud to see the young cats earn their full warrior names as Speckledfury and Batswift.

Deputy: 36 - 45 moons

Hopestorm was made deputy after her sire Bloodstar was killed by Dawnstar of Windclan, and her brother ascended to leadership.

Made a quick change to the title of the thread, and gave it the discussion tag. This discussion will result in some official plans, but I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves where finalizing anything is concerned.

While we can currently do imported characters, I want to avoid fully importing characters (and thus rendering the details of the profiles into stone in this new version) who won't directly appear as the parent or grandparent of a PC.

I agree that we do need to keep records of those characters that left their mark in the history of the game, but I don't want them to be over emphasized. I think accomplishing it through the Legendary Cats List is the way to go. I could see even improving the list so it's automated and easier to add to (and easy to link/reference in character sheets or genealogy pages). Just having a few paragraphs of the influence of the cats is all we need. And maybe even an additional category for cats that appear in bloodlines but aren't actually notable (I think Foxbright falls in these category). They could be not included on the Legendary Cats Page but appear somewhere in the genealogy department under a heading like "distant ancestors".
