Merrypaw trotted ahead, aqua eyes that were much like her mothers, blinking across the grassy moors of RiverClan. The open field stretched wide before them, pale with early morning frost, the grass stiff underfoot. It wasn’t the best hunting ground - not compared to the marshy riverbanks or reed beds - but that wasn’t really the point of today’s outing.

She cast a sideways glance at Hailpaw, a small smirk tugging at her muzzle. "I'm so glad you were able to join me!" Then, with a flick of her tail, she added more seriously. "I wanted to see how you’ve been hunting lately. We never really get the chance to train together, and I figure we might as well compare techniques."

Her ears twitched as she sniffed the air, searching for any sign of prey. "So, what’s your mentor been teaching you? Anything fancy? How is Briarfang - anyway?"
