A scruffy tortoiseshell she-cat with amber eyes

Standing rather tall, Scarletsight had long, scruffy black and ginger tortoiseshell fur with little to no white to brighten. Her eyes are a vibrant amber color that stands out against her mostly dark pelt. Scarletsight is a rather stocky cat, considering herself rather large and daunting despite not being considered as such by some of the cats in ShadowClan.

Scarletsight was never a motherly or kind cat, her attitude always filled with a hateful scorn towards any cat that didn’t go out of their way to help her when she asked. Scarletsight was known from her family to show favoritism to her sons over her daughter, Sunbear, who looked more like her father Eiderfrost. She grew into a scornful, grumpy elder, especially after her daughter chose to leave the clan due to Hawktooth and Bigfoot’s constant blame of the death of her father, though, Scarletsight was not convinced that it was Sunbear’s fault, she took her sons’ side regardless, only pushing Sunbear further away.

Scarletkit was born into ShadowClan as the largest kit of a litter to a ginger tabby mother and a black tom. Scarletkit quickly learned to use her differences to her advantage, demanding attention and help from others in the clan, thinking that her appearance alone made her stand out. She developed a sharp, entitled attitude, expecting others to cater to her whims. Her parents tried to temper her self-centered behavior, but their efforts were largely in vain, and she grew into a prickly, scornful cat with little regard for anyone’s feelings but her own.

As she became a warrior, Scarletsight’s disdain for others deepened, especially toward those who didn’t bend to her will. She favored cats who would assist her without question and resented anyone who challenged her or left her to fend for herself. When she became a mother, giving birth to Hawktooth, Bigfoot, and Sunbear, her favoritism became glaringly obvious. Scarletsight doted on her sons, who took after her strong-willed and selfish nature, but was colder and more distant toward Sunbear, whose quiet demeanor and resemblance to her father, Eiderfrost, only served to remind Scarletsight of her own bitterness. She saw in Sunbear a reflection of the things she disliked about herself, her own inability to bend others to her will and her frustrations with life. The more Sunbear tried to distance herself from her mother’s harshness, the more Scarletsight pushed her away, preferring to focus her attention on her more malleable sons.

As Scarletsight aged and grew into a bitter elder, her relationship with her daughter deteriorated even further. When Eiderfrost died and Hawktooth and Bigfoot began blaming Sunbear for his death, Scarletsight, despite not believing Sunbear was at fault, chose to side with her sons. Perhaps it was easier to keep the peace within her family, or perhaps she simply couldn’t break free from her long-held favoritism. This decision pushed Sunbear to leave ShadowClan altogether, a choice that left Scarletsight both furious and oddly satisfied. Yet, despite her outward anger, a part of her remained conflicted, knowing deep down that her actions had driven her daughter away. Scarletsight’s final moons were spent in isolation, scornful of the world around her, clinging to her pride but secretly haunted by the daughter she had lost.
