Potato

Potato is a red silver classic tabby tom, with a pure white chest, and a bit of white on his face. His pelt is mid-furred but soft, being a white colour underneath with thick, swirling, pale, silvery red ghost tabby patterns. While these patterns are very pale, they are still noticeable from up close. He has pale blue eyes, identical to his mothers. Although his fur is short, his tail is quite long fluffy compared to the rest of him. His physique is one expected of a feral cat, slimmer than a house cat, but still containing a raw, natural muscle.

Potato was the name he was given at birth, but as he got older, Potato grew to have an inherent dislike towards the name due to the lack of fierceness and meaning. He lets his family and other close cats call him Potato, but to a stranger he introduces himself as Chimera as he wants to try give himself a sense of mystery and illusion, despite him being an ordinary barn cat. Potato considers himself lazy and laidback, cruising through life with little care other than for his barnyard home. Most of the time he is pretty relaxed, but sometimes he can get a little riled up if it becomes clear to him that a cat has anything but good intentions. Most of the time he presents himself cheerful and happy, while adding a little bit of teasing and dramatic flair into his conversations. He is partially welcoming towards guests while still retaining a natural level of caution. Lawn Gnome is old, and he doesn’t need any peaky cats causing trouble for her.

Towards humans, Potato seems indifferent. He likes his wild life, but is happy to potter around humans for a little, even letting them have a cuddle if in an affectionate mood. This worries him a little, as he doesn’t want to be taken away by humans, he just enjoys their attention, meaning, despite liking being fussed over by one, he is constantly alert when near one, on the lookout for any suspicious movements.

Around his family, Potato is playful and energetic, although around strangers he composes himself a little more, aiming to give a respectable first impression.

KITHOOD

Potato was born within one of Whitehart’s abandoned houses, sometimes know as the ‘haunted house’. He was born into one of Lawn Gnome’s litters, with his two sires, Spud and Milo, there to help raise them. He was born when there were still humans at the house, and grew overly fond of the old man who lived there. He wasn’t an overly bright kit, choosing to just follow his mother around aimlessly. He was always a little curious of the outside, but never ventured far, preferring to keep within the warmth and safety of his mother. He liked to explore, sticking his nose into almost anything while keeping aware of any possible danger he could put himself in. After exploring the entire house he still found his favourite spot was beside his mother (or lying at a windowsill where he could watch the outside).

Like when he was little, he still continued to follow, but obtained a little more independence, often venturing a little further than he would without the familiar Gnome at his side. It was during his kithood he encountered his first human other than the owner of the old house, and he was super excited. He couldn’t understand their chatter, but he did like when their warm paws reached down to give him a little scratch on the back. After a few encounters, he got very comfortable with these creatures until one tried to pick him up, where he instinctively bit, causing the human to flee. Since then he is still just as fond, but is much more cautious around them, choosing to observe before approaching.

ADULTHOOD

It was yes than a year later when Gnome had another litter, introducing him to his little sister, Ghost. All his littermates had been adopted out, but Potato had been kept. It’s unknown why, but maybe he was just a really good cat?

At some point after the litter that Ghost was born in, the old man who owned the house died, and the farm was sold. Nearly every on the farm was captured and sold, leaving just Lawn Gnome, Potato and Ghost who managed to escape the grasps of the humans.

At his age now, Potato just helps around the old house, preparing nests or hunting, but Ghost seems a little better at the skill – so he leaves most of it to her. He rarely ever leaves his home for more than a day, preferring familiar things over new, but if something interests him greatly, he will often prepare to leave, making sure that Ghost and Gnome will be fine on their own if he decides there is something he wants to do. He is aware of the clan cats, but has little interest in them. They are just another group of cats, right? He respects their borders and is yet to venture into their territories, but its only time before the curiosity gets to him.

He spends most of his days lazing around the house, watching the land for intruders or newcomers. He is a little bored with his life, but still content, not wanting much to change. As of recently he has been exploring more often, in both the streets of Whitehart, and nearer to the clan territories, hoping to catch a glimpse of any new faces. Potato is yet to come into any trouble, having a pretty cruisy life, meaning if he ever has to fight, it will be an entirely new, and scary, experience for him. Hence why he prefers to greet other cats with placidness rather than blatant hostility.
