Rank Description
Leader

Clan Leaders are expected to maintaining order, discipline, security, and tradition within the clan. They do so with the assistance of the Deputy, who they are mentoring in the art of leadership. They are normally awarded nine lives through the power of StarClan, though some situations might prevent this or StarClan may outright refuse to ordain a leader.

Deputy

Deputies are the second to the Clan’s Leader. In addition to organizing patrols (which they also participate in) they are in training with the leader to learn the ceremonies and other lore a leader must know. They and the leader work together to ensure the clan is run properly.

Medicine Cat

Medicine Cats are the spiritual leader and healer of a Clan. They provide healing services, spiritual guidance, interpret omens and prophecies, and provide council to the other members of the clan. They commune with StarClan every waxing half-moon (the 7th day of every moon). They interact more with other clans than any other rank, being a part of the group of cats who gather at Highstones every moon.

Medicine Cat's Apprentice

Medicine Cat’s Apprentices are the cat in training to become the Medicine Cat of the Clan. They are promoted from amongst the kits (and rarely a beginning apprentice) of the clan and receive training in the art of Medicine Cattery from the fully ordained Medicine Cat. They may be into the second year of life before they are promoted due to the breadth of the knowledge they must master.

Senior Warriors are the trusted inner circle of the Leader. These are the cats most frequently tapped to handle important duties such as mentoring and leading patrols. These are the warriors the leader trust the most to ensure things are done and done properly.

Warriors are former apprentices who have passed assessments proving they have reached an acceptable knowledge level in hunting, fighting, and the Warrior’s Code. They are typically of the age of 12 moons or more.

Apprentice

Apprentices are cats who have begun training to become warriors. These characters always have a name suffix of “paw”. Each is assigned a mentor (typically a senior warrior) who is responsible for providing them with training. In addition to they handle medial labor around the camp.

Elder

Elders are cats who are physically infirm due to either age or disability. These cats might preform some extra-circular hunting but are not assigned to patrols or asked to mentor apprentices. Many elders are respected for the experiences they have had in life.

Queen

Queens are either pregnant biologically female cats or cats who are currently parenting a litter of kits. Queens always return to their previous rank following the promotion of the kits they are raising to apprentice rank.

Kit

Kit is a Warrior Clan rank held by cats born or adopted into the clan who have not been promoted to apprentice yet. These characters always have a name suffix of “kit”. They are usually under the age of 6 moons, though occasionally a kit might be apprenticed early or late by decision of the Clan’s Leader.
