Reedpaw

Reedpaw is a dark grey tabby she-cat with her mother’s brilliant blue eyes, their brilliance being a stark contrast against her smoke colored pelt. Her fur is thick and soft, with a splash of white on her chest and matching white paws that to her family always seemed to dance across the riverbank. Her fluffy tail, tipped with white, sways with an effortless luxury, always betraying her curiosity and playful spirit. Fluffy tufts of fur crown her expressive ears, giving her a perpetually inquisitive appearance that matches her eager and outgoing personality. Reedpaw was larger than some in size, essentially the same size of her large brother when the two were apprentices, perhaps a small bit taller, but unlike her brother’s muscular build, she was a lot more lean and light boned.

Reedpaw was a lively and free-spirited she-cat with a warm, seemingly approachable demeanor. She was naturally outgoing and curious, often trying her hardest to strike up conversations with her Clanmates and eagerly seeking out new experiences. Where her brother, Goosesong is blunt and strict, Reedpaw was gentle and considered herself rather tactful, always choosing her words with care to avoid hurting others’ feelings. She believes in the power of empathy and often tried to act as a mediator when tensions rose. To those who knew her, her optimism shone even in difficult times, and she loved to uplift her Clanmates with encouraging words and a strong sense of enthusiasm. Though she had been impulsive and occasionally neglected rules in her excitement, her loyalty to RiverClan was unwavering, and she would have done anything to protect her family and Clanmates.

Reedkit was a bundle of endless curiosity and energy, often one of the first to dart out of the nursery and explore every nook of the RiverClan camp. Her bright blue eyes, a gift from her mother Willowfall, sparkled with excitement at every new discovery. Unlike her brother Goosekit, who preferred to observe, Reedkit was the one to drag him into games and encourage him to join in her antics. Their father, Stoneclaw, often warned her that curiosity could be dangerous, but Reedkit’s adventurous spirit couldn’t be contained, not even by a cat a stern and disciplined as Stoneclaw. Her mother’s gentle reassurances balanced the warnings, and Reedkit always felt secure knowing her family was watching over her.

Becoming Reedpaw only fueled her thirst for adventure, and she was delighted to be given Gladetail as a mentor—a cheerful and patient warrior who shared her curiosity for the world beyond the riverbanks. Training was a joy for Reedpaw; she loved practicing her fishing technique and learning the currents of the river. While she sometimes struggled with the Clan’s strict rules, Gladetail’s guidance helped her focus on the importance of loyalty and care for her Clanmates. And she often sought to include her brother, even when he was focused on training.

One chilly morning, when the river ran stronger than usual, Reedpaw ventured too close to the edge while practicing her fishing skills. The slippery rocks gave way beneath her paws, and the icy water swept her into the current. She fought against the pull of the water, her fluffy tail weighing her down, and her muscles weakening with each desperate stroke. Gladetail dove in without hesitation, reaching her just as she lost her strength. The current was merciless, trapping Gladetail beneath the surface and dragging Reedpaw further downstream. Her last glimpse was of Goosepaw, racing along the bank, calling her name before the river claimed her.
