Laetitia Von Noon was born into a world of luxury and prestige, her existence carefully curated within the esteemed Von Noon cattery. As the second-born in her mother’s second litter of only two kittens, in her household, she held a position of quiet importance, though never quite to the degree of her elder brother, Lelouch, the designated heir. Even so, her mother, Lucille Von Noon, ensured that Laetitia carried herself with the grace and decorum expected of a Von Noon cat, drilling into her the art of etiquette, posture, and refined speech.

Though she adored her mother and idolized Lelouch, a small part of her longed for more than the carefully measured life she was expected to lead. Her father, Laurent Von Noon, now retired and living on a distant estate, visited on occasion, bringing with him tales of different lands and whispered reassurances that there was more to the world than pristine show halls and gilded expectations.

As she grew into her apprentice moons, Laetitia began taking on more responsibilities under the careful watch of her mother and the estate’s assistants, who groomed her for a life of refinement and influence. However, the controlled balance of her world was soon disrupted when the assistants brought home a tom named Smokey, a cat one moon older than herself meant to serve as the new Steward of the cattery.

Unlike Laetitia, who had known only silken pillows and polished marble floors, Smokey had been raised in a different world—one that Laetitia could have never dreamed of. He was expected to maintain order among the other cats, yet his mannerisms were unpolished, his speech lacking the delicacy Laetitia had been taught was essential. Their first meetings felt strained to her, her polite words clashing against his playfulness, but she could not deny a growing fascination with the way he carried himself—so self-assured, so free in a way she had never been allowed to be.

Over the short time of Smokey’s presence, it challenged the way Laetitia saw herself and the rigid traditions she had been raised to uphold. Though she would never openly admit it, she found herself drawn to stories of the outside world, ones that were not neatly trimmed and presented like the tales her father had told her. It had not been long before she questioned whether her place in the Von Noon estate was truly all there was to her life. Or if there might be something more out there that she should be chasing.
