Question #1: Essay Question

Please discuss applicable exprience that you have as a player towards playing the part of a ranked character, followed by a discussioin of the ways in which you feel your character is specifically qualified for the roll.

Question #2: Role Play Situation

Two apprentices fearfully and begrudgingly return to camp alongside a furious warrior. The warrior, who is one of the apprentices’ mentor, complains that he caught the apprentices beside a berry bush acting on a mousebrained challenge.

The dark striped apprentice whimpers that they had played a game resulting in the loser, the one explaining the situation, eating a few berries from the bush and now complaining of stomach pain. Nettleplume’s eyes narrow at the two before turning his attention to his own apprentice.

“We need to treat them fast. We don’t know how many they ate or if the berries are poisonous -“ Which is immediately followed by the apprentice retching painfully, eyes wide with fear. Surely the apprentices would be punished for their foolishness, but…

What does your character do next?

Question #3: Role Play Situation

A longhaired warrior approaches the medicine cat’s den with a half step of hesitance, but he is being watched by another warrior, who shares an encouraging word. When it seems like the warrior brushes off the other and attempts to walk away, they are stewarded by their Clanmate, who seems visibly concerned.

Nettleplume is out collecting herbs. The two warriors approach your character and the second cat informs you that his friend was dizzy and stumbling back to camp. The first insists they just need some sleep and not to bother the medicine cats with something so minor. Their Clanmate disagrees and said they nearly collapsed once they got back to camp.

After some convincing, the warrior agrees to be examined and your character notices that the warrior’s gums appear unusually pale. You can almost hear your mentor in your ears, asking, “What does this tell you and what kind of questions would you ask him? What would you check before deciding how serious this is?”

Question #4: Role Play Situation

Nettleplume sat across from his apprentice in the Medicine Den, several bundles of herbs arranged neatly between them. His pale blue eyes settled on the young cat with his usual analytical focus. “Today we’re going to see how well you can think under pressure.” He pushed some materials forward for their apprentice to see. A clump of mouse fluff, a pile of moss, and a tiny amount of cobwebs next to a leaf of water.

“Imagine a warrior has just returned from patrol with a deep wound along their flank. It’s bleeding heavily but the wound itself doesn’t appear to have damaged anything vital…” He motioned to the materials.

“Obviously…You need to stop the bleeding first. Which would you use and how would you use it?”

Nettleplume’s gaze sharpened slightly. “And remember – what a medicine cat used to do in the past isn’t necessarily what we should be doing now.” He fell silent, watching his apprentice carefully to see whether they would recognize which material was appropriate. It was one thing to honor their ancestors with the lore of the past, but another for efficiency or practicality.
