Question:
Provide a brief rundown of the personality and history of the character in question, making sure to explain where major personality traits came from, and to include those traits you think qualify the character as the next deputy.
Response:
Aspenberry is a warm, young warrior with a strong heart and set of personal morals. She has a good grasp of how the clan functions successfully, and likes to dedicate her time towards helping out. She is social, not in the outgoing way, but in the way that once the conversation has started up, both participants feel a sense of comfort or familiarity. This gives her a relaxed, easygoing aura that welcomes those of her own clan rather than scares them away. Comparing this to how those of another clan might see her, she can tend to be underestimated due to her lithe ‘WindClan’ typical build, but beneath her pale eyes are a flickering fire that tell others there is more to her than you may think, though her overall reputation may be considered primarily; insignificant. She doesn’t like to stand out, nor make a fuss, hence her lack of recognition in the other clans, but maybe in the position of deputy, she will start to shine a little brighter.
She does have her own internal doubts, but keeps these to herself, prioritising clan wellbeing as she sees it as genuinely important. It is unlikely if such would affect her performance in a position such as deputy, but during her whole warriorhood, it has made little impact so will likely stay under the radar.
She grew up within WindClan with her father and foster mother, alongside her sister, whose death later on slowed down her apprenticeship. It seems that the deaths of other’s affects Aspenberry for longer than it might for some others, but she is okay now, glad that her and her father are able to live a happy life with the rest of her family safely watching over them.
The reason why Aspenberry has the possibility to make a good deputy is due to her constant strive for a sense of harmony within her clan, and her ability to keep cool-headed. She isn’t afraid to fight, but won’t whip out her claws at the slightest inconvenience. While keeping a sense of peace is respectable in a deputy, they also need the ability to lead. Aspenberry, while not always the first person to speak, has always been a silent leader of sorts, showing support when needed or stepping up when needed. She isn’t power-hungry, and only will step up if she thinks she is the right person to do so. Aspenberry is a bright soul with a quick-witted mind, looking for the best for those she loves.
Question:
Reply to the following RP Post In Character.
The young apprentice Ratpaw shrunk back, fur sucked tight to her body in fear as she cowered in front of her mentor, eyes wide with fear as she almost disappeared in the massive tom’s shadow.
”The Clan comes first!” Goldstripe hissed lowly, his already massive cream tabby pelt raised in anger. ”The elders saw you take the last bird, before they’d been fed. Have you no respect for those who devoted their lives to ensuring you had a place to live, to hunt, to be born?!” the apprentice’s mentor, an older warrior, growled, fangs bared menacingly. The apprentice, promoted just a moon ago, seemed on the verge of fainting, her whole body trembling.
Response:
Aspenberry had been nearby, and having heard the commotion turned her attention towards Ratpaw and her mentor. She padded over cautiously, but with a hint of self confidence, and gently pushed her way in between the the two. ‘Goldstripe’, she said calmly, though there was a little hint of ice in her tone. She knew that Goldstripe, and how he trained his apprentice was none of her business, but she couldn’t just stand there and watch as Ratpaw practically sunk into her own fur underneath Goldstripe’s looming presence. Ratpaw was hardly 7 moons, and Aspenberry could remember her own apprentice days just like it was yesterday – and the fear and stress that came with it. Everyone made mistakes, and rather than be punished from them, you should learn from them.
She shared a mutual level of respect for Goldstripe, and was not looking to aggravate the tom, but her words must be spoken. ‘Have you asked why Ratpaw may have taken the last prey? I’m not excusing her actions, but there may be a reason behind them, and a valid one at that too. It is important to learn all the facts before spraying another for their actions’. At this point in time, her goal was to either speak to one of the cats alone, to grasp a better understanding of the situation, but that didn’t seem possible, so she turned to speak to the frightened apprentice. ‘Ratpaw, would you mind explaining why you took the last piece? It is important that our elders are fed first, and the least you could have done if you were that hungry was offer to share’ she meowed. She seemed kind but there was a hint of seriousness laced underneath. If Ratpaw really had taken the last piece out of pure greediness, an appropriate lesson would need to be put in place, but she did understand that the little she-cat was still young as was learning. Even Aspenberry was still learning things!
Question:
Write an in character post in for the following situation as the character you are applying with.
- Your character is out on a lone hunt and spots an intruder. The cat isn’t of any of the clans, and is not one that [CHARACTER] has seen before. Even the cat’s scent is foreign with lean muscles rippling beneath a ragged and scarred pelt. He dosen’t appear to be either hostile or stealing prey, simply exploring.
Response:
Aspenberry crouched low beneath the heathers of the moor, a rabbit just in sight. Weather had been good and she could see that the rabbit had a substantial weight, meaning if she caught it, the clan would be well fed tonight, especially with her previous hunt earlier in the day. The wind seemed to change and the rabbit froze before speeding off in the opposite direction. She sighed before letting the breeze ruffle her fur and clear her mind.
Hold on. I’m still upwind. There is no way that rabbit could have noticed me.
She took a moment before an unfamiliar scent hit her mouth. She shrunk further within the heather to keep out of sight before seeing a ragged, scarred tom trotting over the moor, with a seemingly carefree attitude. She pushed her way out of the heather as the cat came closer, wanting to give a slight surprise, but without hostility. ‘Hello’, she said in a friendly tone, though there was a hint of cautiousness. ‘This moor is owned by clan cats, and you are currently on our land. I recommend you leave as soon as possible, if you are just passing through. If you were to meet someone a little more feisty than me, that pelt of yours may end up looking even worse than it already is.’ She hoped the tom would respect her lack of hostility, and go on with his day somewhere else, but if he refused she was prepared to fight for her home.
A few things to consider
- Aspenberry has never had an in game apprentice (not sure if this matters or not)
- is still quite young, being 25 moons
- if she is actually a suitable cat for deputy
- i have never played a ranked character before so will therefore be a new experience for me
